A/N: Now this is my first Questshipping story ever so don’t kill me OK. I have seen the Raikou special dozens of times by now and I understand the whole romance. Now in case some of you don’t know what Questshipping is, if you haven’t seen Raikou: Legend of Thunder it’s a shipping of two of the main characters. Their names are Kenta and Marina; both of them are from New Bark Town and they started the same day as Jackson (from the episode ‘Tie One On’). However, I’m using their English names, Dani and Yoshi, in my story. I’m also putting a little bit of AAML in this story because Misty will be featured in this story. Now enough of that and onto the story!

Ages: Yoshi/Kenta: 17, Dani/Marina: 17, Misty: 19

Disclaimer: I do not own Pokémon or any characters relating to it. The story idea is mine though!

Cerulean City: the City for Love

-*-*-*-*-*-*-

Chapter 1: Kenta’s Arrival

It was a quiet morning outside Cerulean City; Pokémon of all types did their morning routines as much as humans did like waking up, bathing, scrounging for breakfast, and going into battles from time to time. Within the forest outside Mount Moon, a 17 year old boy wearing a red and white sweatshirt, black shorts, and a yellow and black baseball cap worn backwards over his black hair walked through the forest looking at his Pokégear and the map it had installed for the Kanto Region.

The boy was named Yoshi Toshiba of New Bark Town. Like most Pokémon trainers, he dreamed of becoming the best Pokémon master ever and like most trainers he started his journey at the age of 10 with a Cyndaquil from Professor Elm. However, he started his journey with two other trainers from New Bark Town, they were his best friends and yet one of them was a girl he has had a crush on since they were little kids. Her name was Dani Crystal; she was a very beautiful girl with aqua blue hair that had the color of water in his eyes, beautiful blue eyes that seemed to shine like crystals, and a beautiful figure that could drive any boy his age crazy. But what he fell in love with was her, not her figure; she had such a cheerful laughter and every time he heard it, he’d smile.

The other trainer he started out with was Jackson Davis; he was somewhat of a cocky and arrogant trainer who always took pride in himself while trying to impress Dani. Jackson and Yoshi were friends despite the fact they had a crush on the same girl, but Yoshi was more confident in his pokémon than himself. Even though they all had different dreams, their friendship would never end. Jackson competed in the Johto League Silver Conference a year after Yoshi and Dani did, but Jackson never made it to the finals after a loss and a tie between two trainers within his roster.

Yoshi continued to look at his pokégear map as he walked through the forest outside Cerulean City. After he too lost in the Johto League Silver Conference, he decided to try and enter in the Indigo Pokémon League. So far he only won 6 badges, he needed two more to enter in the Indigo Plateau and that included the Cascade badge. From time to time he would stop and wonder what Dani and Jackson were up to along his journey. He had been keeping in touch with both of them thanks to Jackson giving Dani his pokégear number. But now Yoshi set his sights on going for the best in the Indigo Plateau.

After a while, he reached a sign that pointed towards Cerulean City and smiled. But then he noticed some writing on the sign and got a closer look at it. It said, “Gary was here, Ash is a loser.” Obviously someone was taunting someone else but who Gary and Ash were, he never knew. But after passing the sign, he quickened his pace to the Cerulean City Pokémon Center. After arriving, he asked the local Nurse Joy to heal his pokémon, which she did.

“Here you go.” She said happily handing him a tray with his six pokéballs. “Your pokémon are all fully recuperated.”

“Thank you Nurse Joy.” Yoshi replied after he grabbed all six of his pokéballs and placed five of them on his belt and held the sixth in his hand.

“You’re here to challenge the gym leader am I correct?” Nurse Joy asked looking at Yoshi.

“Yeah, I’m here to earn my seventh badge to compete at the Indigo Plateau.” He replied looking back at Nurse Joy.

“Well then I suggest you stay here and rest for a few hours before heading to the gym.” She suggested with a smile.

“I’ll do that, thanks again!” He answered while heading over to a bench and calling out his Typhlosion, which said its name after appearing in front of his trainer. “Hey buddy, you ready to go up against the gym leader here?”

“Phlosion!”

“That’s great!” Yoshi exclaimed with confidence in his voice. “We’ll win that badge for sure.”

“Ty!”

Yoshi then heard the glass doors of the pokémon center open but paid no attention while he scrubbed his Typhlosion’s back with a brush. Little did he know that a certain blue haired girl walked through those doors with a Misdreavous floating by her head; she stopped just a couple of inches after entering looking at Yoshi with an expression of surprise. The girl’s mouth then curved to a huge smile.

“Oh my god, Yoshi!” She exclaimed running to him.

He perked his head up and looked to the girl only to get his neck wrapped around her arms causing him to blush 4 shades of red. He realized who it was already and that’s why he’s blushing. Typhlosion and the girl’s Misdreavus grinned at the sight they were seeing; the two of them know for a fact that their trainers like each other.

“Uhh…Hi Dani.” He said nervously looking at the girl, who was hugging him.

She pulled away and smiled very brightly. “What’re you doing here in Cerulean City?” she asked while holding her own hands in front of her while leaning towards him.

“Uhh…”

“Wait! Don’t tell me,” Dani interrupted him while putting her head up pretending to think. “You’re…here to challenge the gym leader for a badge?” She asked very fast.

“Uhh…yeah.” He simply replied.

“I knew it!” She happily said before giggling.

“So how’ve you been Dani?” Yoshi asked regaining his posture.

“Terrific!” She cried. “I’ve been training my pokémon extensively and Chomp Chomp evolved into a Feraligatr.”

“That’s cool.” Yoshi said with a smile.

After a while of catching up, Yoshi explained to her that he was going to challenge the Cerulean gym leader to a battle and win a cascade badge. Dani told him that the gym leader is a girl and rumors say that she has a Gyarados; that didn’t worry Yoshi in the least. She also told him she’d be glad to watch him and root for him there; this made him smile a whole lot more.

Meanwhile in the Cerulean City Gym, a certain red-haired water pokémon trainer was feeding her Horsea pokémon food from the tank. She had a smile on her face but it wasn’t much of a happy smile. Next to her a Psyduck was eating as well while holding its head from time to time. A Togepi chirped happily after Horsea ate and that made the girl smile.

“Did you enjoy your lunch Togepi?” She asked the tiny egg pokémon with a motherly smile.

“Togeprrrrrriiii!” Togepi chirped making the girl giggle.

The girl was Misty Waterflower, one of four sisters who own and run the Cerulean City Gym. She was there all by herself because her sisters Daisy, Lily, and Violet were all on vacation leaving her in charge of the gym. But she wasn’t home when her sisters decided to go on vacation; she was with her two best friends Ash Ketchum and Brock Slate, who were now in the Houenn Region. She missed those two, especially Ash. She missed Ash the most because she has had a crush on him for a long time now. She even considers Brock an older brother who loves to cook; she even misses his cooking.

But she had her duties as one of the gym leaders of the Cerulean gym and had to follow them like any other gym leader. She would accept challenges from trainers outside Cerulean City, battle them, and give them a cascade badge as a reward if they defeat her. Since her return, a few trainers have battled and won against her but many challengers ended up losing; mainly to her Gyarados.

Sometimes at night, she would look outside her window and think of a certain black-haired pokémon trainer and his Pikachu and cry. She just missed him so much that it ached her everyday to see herself with just her friend Tracey Sketchit, who visits the gym from time to time. She even wished that he was in the gym with her while she did her gym leader duties. He would root for her while she battled challengers. But he wasn’t there; he was on another journey to become a pokémon master.

Despite all this, she was still Misty Waterflower and she had her job and home to protect. She stood up while heading over to the gym’s pool and watch for any challengers. She then heard the gym doors open and she looked over in that very direction and saw a boy no older than Ash wearing a red sweatshirt, black shorts, and a yellow and black baseball cap on backwards. She also saw a girl with blue hair in a pair of pigtails with a hat covering it while wearing a white jacket, pink t-shirt, and a pair of shorts herself.

“Excuse me miss,” The boy said getting her attention. “I’m looking for the gym leader here.”

“You’re lookin’ at her.” Misty replied with a smile. “If you’re here to challenge me to a gym battle, please follow me.”

They did so while she led them to the pool, she instructed Dani to watch from the stands while they battled. Yoshi stood on one side of the platforms while Misty stood on the other. They stared at each other with confident looks.

“This will be a three on three pokémon battle, no time limit.” Misty announced while pulling out her Corsola’s lure ball.

“Fine by me,” Yoshi said before pulling out a pokéball and throwing it. “Go, Beedrill!”

The pokéball opened and a bee-like pokémon appeared with two stingers on its arms. It buzzed as it appeared and flapped its wings over the battlefield. Misty’s eyes widened and her face went pale; she had a slight fear of bug pokémon. But she shook it off and threw her lure ball.

“Misty chooses Corsola!” Misty shouted as she threw it and a pink coral-like pokémon appeared on one of the platforms.

The two stared at one another for a while; Dani watched from the sidelines as neither one made a move. She kept wondering who would make the first move. But she knew Yoshi well; he would be the first to declare an attack, which he did.

“Go Beedrill, Twin needle attack!” Yoshi shouted out while pointing his right finger towards Misty’s Corsola.

His Beedrill flew in towards Corsola with both stingers ready to strike. The flapping of its wings made it buzz as it flew towards the rock/water-type pokémon, who stared at its opponent as it charged. Beedrill got ready to thrust both his stingers forward before Misty declared her move.

“Corsola, dive under the water and dodge it!” Misty shouted as she held her fist up while having a determined look in her eye.

“Corsola!”

Her Corsola jumped into the pool just in time by a mere 5 inches as Beedrill flew over the spot where it jumped in. Beedrill stopped in midair and turned around to see where his opponent jumped only to see ripples in the water. Yoshi was impressed on how fast Corsola was, but not that impressed.

“Good job Corsola, now give it your spike cannon!” Misty yelled out as she pointed towards the bug pokémon.

Corsola appeared behind Beedrill as the spikes on its head began to glow. The tiny pokémon pointed the spikes towards Beedrill and fired a barrage of tiny white spikes towards the bee. Beedrill didn’t even have time to turn around and see where Corsola was; the spikes impacted on its back causing its body to spaz as a person would if they were getting shot by a machine gun.

“Beedrill!” Yoshi cried out as his pokémon was getting pounded.

The barrage stopped and Beedrill looked like it was going to fall but it flapped its wings to regain flight and turn towards the pink and white pokémon behind it. It buzzed angrily while it waited for his trainer’s command. Yoshi sighed in relief that his Beedrill didn’t go down but he then pointed towards Corsola again.

“Try your pin missile attack, Beedrill!” Yoshi declared as he was more determined than ever to win.

His Beedrill buzzed as it pointed its two stingers toward Corsola again, this time hovering in the spot it was in. Like Corsola’s spikes, its stingers began to glow and it fired its own barrage of tiny needle-like projectiles towards the coral-like pokémon. This made Misty grin even wider.

“Corsola, spike cannon!” She shouted as Corsola pointed its glowing spikes towards Beedrill’s attack and fired its spike cannon attack again.

The two attacks collided with one another causing both of them to not even make it to their targets. This shocked Yoshi, Dani, Beedrill, and Dani’s Misdreavus but the spike cannon didn’t stop and Beedrill took it head on. Yoshi was now starting to panic; he was actually losing this battle. Just before he could declare another attack, his Beedrill fell in the water. He called out to his Beedrill, which only surfaced with swirls for eyes.

“No Beedrill!” Yoshi cried out in shock.

“Oh no, first battle of the match and Yoshi’s already lost one of his pokémon.” Dani mused out loud while staring helplessly at the battle going on while her Misdreavus made a little ‘vus’ with her in the same worried tone.

As the battle continued, Yoshi called out his Victreebel to try and defeat Corsola; but Misty’s Corsola was tougher than it looked and it defeated Victreebel almost as easily as it did with Beedrill. Yoshi was now down to his final pokémon, which was his Typhlosion. He knew his Typhlosion wouldn’t let him down and it never did in the battle against Corsola. It even shocked Misty to see a fire pokémon stand up against a water pokémon like that. Dani wasn’t surprised, her Croconaw did the same and she was surprised that his Typhlosion took a water gun attack head on without even flinching.

Typhlosion managed to take out Corsola with a few blows and it was just as hard with Misty’s Staryu. But it now came to one pokémon a piece and Misty called out her strongest pokémon, Gyarados. The two were already in an intense battle, but Misty seemed to have the upper hand; Typhlosion was getting exhausted.

“Just hang in there Typhlosion!” Yoshi called to his pokémon, who just growled in response while the flames on its neck grew.

Misty was amazed that this boy reminded her so much of Ash; he was just as determined, stubborn, and predictable as Ash. One thing she also noticed in his eyes whenever she defeated his pokémon was that he cared for them! Ash cared for his pokémon even in the toughest situations. But she wasn’t going to go easy on Yoshi.

“I hate to disappoint you, but this battle is over. Gyarados, hyper beam attack!” Misty shouted while she pointed towards Typhlosion.

A glowing yellow ball appeared in Gyarados’ mouth and it seemed to grow bigger by a few seconds. Typhlosion was already charging towards the sea serpent-like pokémon while charging its flame wheel attack, which Yoshi declared for. But before Typhlosion could even hit Gyarados, Gyarados fired its hyper beam at Typhlosion engulfing it within the blast. Misty and Yoshi covered their eyes as well as Dani. When the light cleared, Typhlosion was on the last platform it was on with swirls in its eyes while Gyarados remained afloat in the water.

“No! Typhlosion!” Yoshi cried out as he ran to his pokémon’s side.

“Great job Gyarados, return.” Misty said happily as a red beam from her pokéball retrieved the Gyarados into it before looking towards Yoshi.

“You were good kid, but you shouldn’t have your pokémon take hits like that otherwise this mistake will repeat itself again.” Misty said while looking at Yoshi, who was looking at her with somewhat of an angered look.

Dani couldn’t believe her eyes, Yoshi actually lost a battle! She ran over to him and placed her hand on his shoulder but he merely pulled away, recalled Typhlosion, and ran out the door towards the pokémon center. Dani watched him with sympathy in her eyes, while Misty did the same. Misty felt that she was at fault for this; she felt she went a little too rough on him.

“Yoshi…” Dani said to no one in particular.

To be continued…

A/N: Well, that was the first chapter of my story. As for the rest, you have to give me time on. I am fighting humungous writer’s block and it is not fun! But please send in your reviews and I’ll keep writing.
