He was led dejectedly into his cell. He sat down and stared at Officer Jenny, the shock of his defeat from that battle still fresh in his mind. "I'll be back when an the representative arrives in two hours." She said as she locked him in. She turned to the Growlithe that was next to her. "Growlithe. Make sure he stays in there. If he exhibits any unusual behavior, come get me." "Growlithe." The Pokemon replied and sat down in front of the bars. With that, Officer Jenny walked out of sight and down the hall. Bart waited some time before speaking. "I think it started in childhood. I had a terrible temper as a kid and...was never able to get rid of it." The Growlithe lifted his head at the sound of his voice. "Growlithe?" Bart continued. "I was able to suppress some of it, but I guess that didn't help. I went into Pokemon Training with that same temper. Come to think of it, I think I should have waited until I could control my temper. My starter pokemon was a fire type, a Houndour. Now I realize that the type I chose was a symbolism of myself and my temper. But I only had three fire types." He looked at the Growlithe and chuckled. "Did you know that four of my former pokemon ran away? Two of them broke their pokeballs, I broke one and the last one stole its own pokeball and ran away. The first was my Houndour, my starter Pokemon!" He shook his head. "At least I had caught several others with it. A Bayleef that evolved into a Meganium who ran away with my Houndour. The Meganium was the one who broke the balls. I also had a Nidoking, Graveler and a Rhydon at the time." ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Flashback "Alright guys! Come on out and enjoy your breakfast while you still can!" He announced as he released his Pokemon. His Pokemon ate their food silently, as they had done since he had caught them. His Houndour and Meganium exchanged looks, nodded and the Meganium walked in Bart's direction and stepped on the Houndour's pokeball and its own. They then ran into the forest as fast as they could. Bart stood up quickly. "HEY! Get back here!" ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "After that I took my anger out on my Nidoking, yelling at it, berating it, sometimes even throwing rocks at it because it wouldn't listen to me. I was very careful about my temper in front of others. But one day I lost my temper at that Nidoking in front of a lot of people." The Growlithe looked at him warily before lying down in front of the cell. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Flashback "Alright, Nidoking. Let's try that attack again." The pokemon had been practicing its attacks with Bart in a public park, along with many other trainers. Bart's Nidoking had listened to him previously but this time it just stepped back and shook its head. Bart started yelling and calling it names. After a while he felt a tap on his shoulder. He whirled around angrily. "What?!" It was that town's Officer Jenny. She explained that he had been working his pokemon too hard without a break and his fit of yelling wasn't doing any good either. She then confiscated his Nidoking. Just before she returned his Nidoking to its Pokeball, he saw that it was sticking its tongue out at him. He took a menacing step toward them. "Why you little..." He trailed off as Officer Jenny turned to him. "Were you talking to me?" He shook his head. "No, it was sticking its tongue out at me!" "I'm sure it had a good reason." She replied as she walked away. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "With my Graveler and Rhydon I caught a Ninjask, a Lickitung, a Gengar and a Clefairy." At the mention of Clefairy the Growlithe had raised its head and glared at Bart. Bart scowled at it. "What's your problem?" He then went back to narrating. "I got tired of my Graveler and Rhydon disobeying me so I tried to get rid of them. I took them to this nice looking place and left them there. Turns out I left them at a Pokemon Preserve." Bart rolled his eyes and continued. "After I dumped those two I caught a Furret and a Kecleon. After that my Ninjask was confiscated after I got mad at this trainer. He was saying that I was a bad trainer. Me! A bad trainer! So I had my Ninjask attack him. He deserved it anyway. After my Ninjask was confiscated I caught a Vileplume. One day I noticed that my Lickitung, Gengar and Clefairy weren't doing well, so I took them to a Pokemon Center. The Nurse Joy there accused me of starving them! Okay, so I occasionally forgot to feed them. I didn't do it on purpose!" Bart paused and then continued. "I somehow knew that she was going to call the Officer Jenny of that town. By that time I was on this list of trainers who were unfit to train Pokemon. I found out that my childhood friend was on the list. His name is Damien. Anyway, I left those three at the Pokemon Center and ran away with my Furret and Kecleon. Officer Jenny almost caught me on my way out, but I told her my name was Jack and she let me go." Bart shook his head. "I can't believe I was caught this time. Anyway, after I left my Lickitung, Gengar and Clefairy at the Pokemon Center, I caught a Vileplume, an Eevee, a Kirlia that evolved into a Gardevoir and a Gyarados. My Furret and Kecleon wouldn't listen to me, so I just gave them to the next trainer I saw. Soon after that, My Vileplume ran away. I accidently broke its pokeball and it took off." Bart looked at the Growlithe. "That Eevee I mentioned?: ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Flashback "Why won't you evolve?!" He growled at the small brown pokemon a few feet away. "Here, Let's try a water stone!" He then threw it at the Eevee, hoping that it would land on its head. The Eevee dodged at the last second. "Eevee! Eevee!" It shouted. "If you talked to it in a more gentle manner, it might listen to you." A voice from behind admonished. "Or perhaps a more gentle trainer?" Bart turned and saw a small girl in pigtails. He rolled his eyes and tossed the Pokeball at her. "Here, its yours now." Bart then walked away. When he was about twenty feet away he looked back in time to see his former Eevee evolve into an Espeon. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Did you know that my Gardevoir wouldn't even come near me? It would always stand outside of arms length! The day that it ran away I also caught a Magcargo, Charmander and Elekid. The Gardevoir ran away when I fell into a hole!" ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Flashback "Okay. Gardevoir that was pretty good. I caught three pokemon!" He looked back to see Gardevoir at least ten feet away from him, taking a step when he took a step. He turned completely around and started walking backwards. "What's the matter Gardevoir? You don't trust me?" He taunted. The Gardevoir looked at him and then looked by his feet. It then looked back at him with a smug expression. Bart then tripped and fell into a hole. "Gardevoir! Help! I think I twisted my ankle!" He called out. It peered over the hole curiously. "Come on Gardevoir! Help me out of this hole!" The Pokemon smiled and shook its head. "Fine be that way!" He then pulled out the Pokemon's pokeball and pointed it to the Gardevoir, who yanked it away with one of its psychic attacks. It then held the ball in its hand and shook it teasingly. "Gardevoir!" It said triumphantly and left. Bart then collapsed back on the ground and shook his head. "Now what?" ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "After that I let my Gyarados out to get some exercise. It blasted me with Hydro Pump, so naturally I started yelling and throwing things at it. It then created a tidal wave and somehow disappeared! Can you imagine anything more embarrassing than that?" He asked the bored Growlithe. The Growlithe lifted its head as someone approached. "Growlithe?" The Growlithe asked semi-hopefully. "No, the representative isn't here yet. You'll have to stand guard for a while longer. Sorry." Officer Jenny replied. The Growlithe huffed and laid its head back down reproachfully. Officer Jenny then left the way she had come. "Now where was I? Of course! After my Gyarados ran away I caught what I later found out to be my last three pokemon: A Pichu, Treecko and Poliwag. Of course, after I caught that Poliwag, my dumb Magcargo ran away! All I did was kick it a bit." He added reasonably. After that my Charmander decided to use flamethrower in my face every time I called it out, so I got rid of it by giving it away." He then sat in silence for a minute before continuing. "The Elekid I had refused to evolve when I tried to make it. I got so mad at it, I tried throwing it off a ten story building. That plan failed and it was confiscated. That Pichu kept shocking me every time I tried to go anywhere near it. I got fed up and tossed a bag over it, and threw it in a nearby river. It was then found by one of those actors." He then scowled. "That Treecko." He started scornfully. "Was nothing but a waste of time. It wouldn't defend itself against anything, it was easily frightened, it had a sensitive stomach and worse of all...it acted like a little kid!" He looked at the Growlithe, who was staring at the ceiling. "I did what any trainer would do. I tied it to a tree and left it there to toughen it up and see if it could get itself loose. I came back a few days later to find the Treecko gone, the rope cut in half and a map left behind!" He shrugged. "So I did what any trainer would do. I tracked the little brat who stole my Pokemon to get it back. I found the city that they would be in soon and painted some of the mushrooms a different color, hoping that the Treecko would get sick. Making the Treecko sick would have made the job of stealing it back a whole lot easier." Bart rolled his eyes. "Unfortunately, that didn't work, so with my last pokemon I decided to confront the brat who stole that worthless pokemon and take it from her after the play was over." ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Flashback Bart carefully studied the program for the play. He had previously learned that his Treecko's abductor's name was Courtney. But what he was just finding out was that she had all electric types except for his Treecko and an Eevee. He crumpled up the paper and set out to find her. He found her, his Treecko and his Pichu in front of a quaint, little ice cream shop battling some kid trainer. The Treecko was the first one to notice him. He panicked and grabbed the attention of the brat who stole him. She challenged him to a battle so he sent out his only pokemon. The Poliwag. She then surprised him by having that runt of a Treecko to battle his Poliwag. He lost the battle when the Treecko fired a thunderbolt that immediately ended the battle. She got the Poliwag and he won a free trip to jail. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "That's how I ended up here." He finished. He then noticed that the Growlithe was looking desperately down the hall. He soon heard the clicking of shoes and a minute later Officer Jenny and some guy was standing in front of him. "Bart. This is the representative from the Trainers Who Abuse Pokemon program. He's here to help you." Bart spread his arms wide in mock defeat. "I suppose I could use all the help I can get." He replied stonily. Officer Jenny unlocked his cell and he followed the representative down the hall. That's the end of that story! :)
