December 3, 2005 Shadowz By: nova aka nate Part I: Morning Melee It's seven AM and early in the warm morning the orange sky glowed under the luminous sun which was rising as the hours passed. The white ice capped mountain range of Mt. Frost full of nothing but ice and snow occupied but rarely seen by pokemon lay behind a thick green wood of frolicking pokemon. The creatures burrowed underground, scampered around the surface of the Kitno Woods, and hid in the thick brown trees. A lone laboratory placed at the entrance of the woods could be seen even from the skies of the Orre Region. Inside a bedroom, a man in his early twenties was sleeping in his bed with blankets covering his entire body. His PDA began to vibrate on his desk, humming as it did so. He groaned and emerged from his blanket to answer the message. He opened the PDA and it read: Michael, I need you to go get your sister Jovi for me. She hasn't come back from the manor yet. Thanx. Love Mom. He groaned again while reaching for his jeans. Michael looked into his mirror and saw a young man with scarlet spiky long hair, emerald eyes, and an upset expression. He was putting on a black long- sleeved shirt and a blue headband holding back his hair, wearing his yellow leather vest and then pulled up his jeans. Finally, he slipped on his black K-Swiss. He left the laboratory and mounted his hover-scooter and took the following road. *** After ten long minutes, Michael arrived at the front gates of the bizzare house. He opened the rusty blackish-crimson gates and proceeded towards the manor. Stepping on the crunchy dead leaves, Michael looked up at the quiet atmosphere with clouds lazily drifting by imagining one of them in the shape of a bed he could sleep in. He walked towards the house and as he approached it, he grabbed the cold doorknob. But a squeaky voice startled him. "Stop right there!" It piped. And from the shadows emerged a man much shorter than Michael. His short hair and eyes which glared through black rimmed, smudged, glasses were turquise. His white labcoat swayed with the wind as he said, "you must be a burglar. I shall set you straight trying to burgle your way in here. Dr. Kaminko's dream was to give this home to me once his time passed on. It would be an insult to his wish to just let you waltz on in here stealing the greatest inventions this region has ever seen. You shall be punished." He reached inside his coat and pulled out a red metallic pokeball and threw it into the air and it split open horizontally. In a huge red flash came a sixty foot tall mechanical being. It was dominately red with the midsection of its stomach and chest region a dull grey. Sharp shiny spikes bore on the sides and on its rocky sloped tail. The huge clawed arms were transparent to allow someone to see the technology within. Instead of eyes, there was a long orange visor across its face with fake metal sharp fangs in its mouth. "Let's see what you can do against Robotic Groudon." He looked directly up shouting, "Groudon, Laser Flare!" From its metal designed mouth, the robotic pokemon shot red hot thin beams at Michael who quickly executed backflips and then came back-to-back with the ten-foot cinderblock walls. He unclipped from his belt a pokeball with a water sign sticker on it and tossed it out. When it opened, in a flash of white light, a marine cat-like pokemon with blue soft fur and a fin around its collar and large white fin ears appeared. It's spine was ridged with a small fin running down to the end of its mermaid's tail. "Vaporeon, Icebeam." Michael called. His pokemon exhaled an icy cold blast from its mouth towards the laser shots and the jagged cold beam blocked its mouth and solidifying into a huge blockade of ice. But then a red glow shined within its mechanical jaw and then it burst with shards of melting ice and more laser beams raining towards the trainer and pokemon. "Use Protect." A ten foot radius neon green shield was generated from Vaporeon, the bubble-jet pokemon. The red beams and ice debris were disintegrated as they hit the force field. "Looks like a burglar-helping pokemon." The scientist said looking at Michael's companion. "Very well." He brought out his remote from his back jean pocket, pressed the red button and a small man-sized latch opened from the right foot of Robotic Groudon and he ran into it as it shut. Moments later his head popped up through the visor. From atop, he adjusted two levers pushing one forward while and pulling the other back, it made the huge legs of Groudon move with each rumbling quake. "Chill Scatter, all around its feet." Michael said trying to commandeer his balance. The little cat pokemon dashed forward and then a white icy aura emitted from his body. And then jagged blue beams of frozen energy defused towards its legs of red metal. The ice bolted around and up holding the limbs down from movement, rooted in spot. But with not much effort, Groudon broke away from its frost prison like it was never even bounded. "Take this!" The small man said to himself way up high. The Robotic Groudon crouched down on fours. Missisle launchers lifted from it's back and a scarlet glow began to grow then large streaming red missiles shot out trailing black smoke. Michael and Vaporeon quickly dove to the left but the missiles only pursued them. Looks like they have homing capabilities. "Vaporeon, use Blizzard!" A huge white cloud formed in Vaporeon's mouth from which wind, snow, and ice shot out and collided with the missiles creating a cancelling explosion of coldness and more obscurity of smoke. More missiles broke through and were targeting the medium-sized blue pokemon. "This time use Ricochet!" Michael shouted out from behind. Instead of the previous green, this time a bright cobalt blue shield was generated and this time the missiles paused once they connected with the shield and then propelled themselves back to Groudon seeming faster than before. They crashed into its chest with sparks crackling with severe damage. The breached armor smoked and the scientist was becoming irritated from this battle. Should this man and his pokemon really be lasting this long against his superior mechanic superancient beast? After all this was his best invention by far. He turned to his right and pressed three different buttons and a small handling device ejected slowly out and he grabbed on the handle, turned it clockwise, then pushed it down. The click from his actions he had been performed signalled that he had done it right and now the two sets of mechanical claws shot away from the hands, one set trailing towards Michael. The other ones missed Vaporeon but the torpedo claws were closing in on his trainer. He stretched out his left arm and then specks of light formed around his hand and then gathered around his whole arm. Bright lustrous light seemed to have hardened as it then dissapeared leaving his shoulder covered by a shining chrome pad with small holes letting small strips of light beam out. A long thick cord or wire snaked down from the shoulder pad with his whole hand covered by another plate of chrome. The fingers and palm were covered by a stirdy black material. Clipped on his head band was a small slick headset device with a clear len over his left eye. "Now, it's on." He opened his hand grasping his wrist controlling his new awesome power which this weapon contained. A small sphere of light with blazing flames formed in his palm. He turned his hand forward and let go the fireball of whiteness at the torpedo claws which exploded. Using the headset device, he scanned for a weakspot, found it and took a quick dash of speed ahead. From inside the Groudon's visor compartment, the man was paranoid at the sight of Michael, the "burglar's" new weapon on his left arm. Why is that machine so familiar to me? He thought nothing more of it and decided to end this. "I'll use the Nova Cannon!" He pressed many more buttons, pulled knobs, and switched side levers to desired directions. "This'll finish it." Never did I believe I'd have to use this on a man and his pokemon. He added in mind Michael suddenly stopped running seeing the circular stomach section open showing the four ray cannons which were charging up fiery magma-like energy. It began to grow inside the cannon charging unit and then once fully charged, a smaller replica of the sun launched out recoiling the Groudon about eleven feet releasing an unavoidable gargantuan blast. "Damn." Michael cursed thinking of his pokemon's safety. "Return now." He opened the pokeball and withdrew his pokemon in a flash of red light. From the machine on his left arm he created a much more powerful and brighter aurora to protect his body from the intense heat about to come. He stared at the oncoming attack of deadly element and when it came face to face with him he put his hand at the giant sun-like orb and it actually was halted by his arm with the help of his weapon. The heat couldn't get to his body thanx to the aura of intense light energy. The force pushed him down into the ground spreading out the ground into a crater from immense pressure. "If only I had two Annihilaters I could stop it for sure." Then he suddenly had an idea. Using his available arm, he once more summoned Vaporeon cloaking him in an aura of light. Seeing his master in trouble he called to him in cat-like meows. "Vaa, Vaporeon, Vapor?" "Well of course I see the gigantic-red-hot-death-ball of energy trying to destroy me! He replied. "Now use Hydro Pump!" Vaporeon nodded and without hesitation exhaled a high volume of extremely cold water towards the magma blast. At first the Hydro Pump just evaporated but after constant continuation, the cylinder of water drilled further to the center of the Nova Cannon attack. He soon felt no more pressure and the force of the blast was letting up little. A small blob of blue formed in the core of the magma energy ball. He could now also feel himself capable of pushing back. Soon, Michael began to step one foot forward than the other. He could walk out of the crater. The more the hot redness turned cold bluish, the more Vaporeon seized control over what soon would be his to command. It came that the hot magma sun-like blast became just a big water ball steaming cold air. "Vaporeon, Water Absorb." The ball began to shrink down to a smaller and smaller size, soon beach ball, apple, golf ball. Then nothing. "How?" The short scientist asked himself "How could one man and a Vaporeon do this to my ultimate attack?" He gasped in horror seeing Michael sprinting towards him and his mechanic once believed masterpeice. "I-I have to stop him!" He stammered as he he lifted a glass latch and punched a button. Suddenly two triggers were ejected out and the scientist sized them and fired The now clawless red metal hands retracted into its arms and out came cylindar cannons with the style of mulit-barrels like that of a mini gun. Michael once more stopped in his tracks seeing this and shielded himself from the firings bullets with the weaponry on his left arm. The bullets bounced off clinking to the ground in light metal sounds. This continued on for approximately ten minutes. Then after gunfire, he proceeded his dash towards Groudon. He jumped with amazing leg strength forty-feet high into the air right at the chest knowing the main energy core was there. He used the Annilhilator and with great force punched the chest of the robot cybernetic pokemon. The chest burst and sent Michael flying but he reacted and landed firmly to the ground next to Vaporeon. Small pops and pieces of metal blew off of Groudon. The scientist got down on his knees and pulled open a small door and pulled down the lever with great effort seeing as how it was an emergency shut down. The outside sparks slowed down to nothing and the Groudon began to impede in movement and fully stop. It ceased to function The scientist began hovering in the air with the help of a jetpack from an open latch on the top of Groudon's head. "Freeze the jet-pack." Michael said. Another Icebam this being smaller latched onto the jet-pack and it began to harden and the craft gave away. He fell from the high distance with a gruesome sound coming from his arm once he hit the ground. "Oops. Didn't mean to do that." Behind his blurry glasses his eyes were closed and he felt the pain searing through his injured arm as he slowly opened his eyes. He saw a hazy figure of Michael and Vaporeon walking up to him. "I lost," he said softly to himself. "lost...with Groudon...Robotic Groudon." He was too frighten to budge as Michael who he still believed to be a burglar took off his glasses then slipped them back on with his vision now more clear he saw the true face and the actual figure of Vaporeon. He saw the lime eyes bright red hair and the familiar clothes. "Man Chobin, you're a mess." He laughed a little. "You...you know my name?" The man apparently named Chobin asked. "Well duh, for how long now? It's me Michael." Michael finally told him as he laughed at this whole thing. "Wait. From closer inspections, it is you Michael." He observed the environment and what he and Groudon had done. "I must apoplogize for my actions which lead to all this. I should've used my brain like I always do in the first place." "No sweat bud." Michael assured. "Plus I think my pokemon got somewhat stronger. Not to mention using my Annihilator was fun." The trainer relaxed his muscles and the powerful machinery on his arm disappeared in a quick luminous flash. "Ahh yes ever since you saved the Orre region seven or somewhat years ago during the Second Incident, I altered your old Snag Machine to the ultimate weapon, the Annihilator-AHH!” “WHAT?” Michael shoued in alarm. “I think I broke my arm when I fell or something.” Chobin explain through much pain. "Yeah uh my bad." The door opened from the manor and an adolescent came running up to them with medium blue hair and eyes. She wore a short white skirt exposing teenage legs and a white t-shirt. She wore a pair of pokeball earring as well. “What’s all the ruckus guys?” She asked in a way that made her seem a bit innocent. “Jovi, Chobin broke his arm when he fell. He needs to be helped inside.” Michael explained. “How did all this happen?” Jovi asked astonished from the disasters of Chobin’s front entrance of his home. “Long story.” Michael answered. “Boys will be boys. Well come on, Jovi will mend your arm in a pinch.” She reffered in first person as she has been for years now. Michael called back his Vaporeon in another red beam as it was absorbed inside its pokeball entering Chobin’s Manor. *** Far out in the eastern desert region of Orre, the Outskirt Stand was in the middle of nowhere where the heat invaded most of wherever there was sand. The Ourskirt Stand was a pit stop for travelers and trainers alike who needed to purchase goods for themselves or their pokemon. It depened on who you were. It was here where you could also watch the ONBS News. But right now a simple pokemon battle was in progress between two trainers: one wearing a navy trench coat and black jeans with black Timberland boots on his feet. His short hair looked like the color of dead grass. His eyes were as yellow as amber. He was about six foot three and wore gloves on his hands. His name was Wes. His competitor at the moment was a man wearing what looked like a cowboy costume minus a matching hat. He had the boots, pants, vest and plaid shirt to look like an actual cowboy. Perhaps he was. The name was Will. The woman not too far away had long ginger hair and large attractive violet eyes wearing a short jean skirt and jean jacket. She had pink boots and a soft expression. She was Rui. Wes was fighting hard with his black cat pokemon Umbreon. His pokemon had these golden ring spots on the sides of his legs, forehead, and one looped around his tail. His pupils were blue leaving the rest of his eyes red. He was no larger than a domestic cat. He battled with a linoone which could be said to resemble a badger with a much slimmer physique. "Umbreon!" Wes shouted with a powerful, cunning voice. "Faint Attack." His pokemon charged straight for Linoone with a dark aura trailing behind. Umbreon tackled Linoone with great force knocking it back to its trainer, as it landed uplifting sand from the dry desert ground. "Linoone, use Agility." Linoone stood on fours and then took a quick burst of speed towards Umbreon. "Now use Quick Attack." It gained even more speed seeming to be unable to be avoided as it drew closer to Umbreon. "Double Team." As Wes swaggered, Umbreon glowed the pokemon evolution white light and then multiplied into two more night black cat pokemon. The one Linoone hit was in the center but it rammed right through it tumbling to the ground as the illusion faded away. "Linoone, try the one on your left." And the one on the left also faded away as it was a clone from a failed flail. "Now, Hyperbeam." The final Umbreon gathered destructive energy from its mouth and unleashed it in a long dangerous beam with multiple colors. Linoone was hit and driven high into the air and then landed hard in front of Will. "DAGNABIT! Ya got me again, Wes." "Yeah, again." Wes repeated. "Good work buddy. Now return." And he too just like Will called back his pocket monster in a pokeball. "Nice going babe." Rui said approaching him with a warm smile. "You did great as well Will-" "Yeah, but I need more training if I'm to beat you one day." Will supposed. But then he caught sight of a little something behind Wes and Rui. "Look at that." He pointed. As Wes and Rui turned, what they saw was something small and unknown to them as they gazed upon it. A very small creature, a pokemon of course with dominately white fur. It had a blue stripe along its back and a spiky bushy tail. Its full build was like that of a squirrel. It had little yellow cheeks and the eyes of a pikachu. It sqeaked, "Pachi!" What kind of pokemon is that?" Will asked Wes. "Not sure, I've never seen it. Possibly one of those so called next gen pokemon I've heard so much of." "Well it's obviously not a pikachu or a pichu." Rui realized viewing the cheeks and tail. "So what in the world is it." Will asked again. "I don't know." He repeated. "Hey you Guys!" The man who owned the Outskirt Stand hollered to them. "I saw that battle, why not come in from this dreaded heat and cool off." "Good Idea, I'll buy a revival potion for Linoone." Will forgot about the mystery pokemon and left them for the Stand. "I'll catch ya later Wes." Wes and Rui turned back but the pokemon was gone leaving its little footsteps towards Wes' motorcycle. This special type of vehicle had only one wheel letting the full broad and lengthly engine stick out to hover. The clean silver pipes extened out the sides and the back of the motorcycle. The pokemon vanished. "Wait...what...where'd it go." Rui wondered. "Must've ran off." Wes shrugged his shoulders. As they went inside Wes began to think. How could it just have vanished like that? It doesn't make any sense. We're in middle of hot scorching heat. It would not be able to survive in this environment. He forced himself to forget about it and have some breakfast. *** "Feeling better?" Jovi asked finishing mending Chobin's injured arm. He was sitting in a chair near his desk full of many papers and blueprints with his lamp which was off since his window let early morning sunlight beam through. "It still hurts alittle but not as much." Chobin assured. "Who taught you how to mend broken arms?" Michael asked. "Mommy." "Figures." Michael said. Their mother was always like a nurse. "Chobin, when did you turn your Robotic Groudon into that...giant thing I fought with outside?" "I have been making special improvements for my Robotic Pokemon or RP series. Half way done all I need to do now is finish the new model of Robotic Kyogre." "Yeah big bro, you should see what Chobin's done so far. It's amazing. Jovi's never seen anything like it!" Jovi exclaimed. "Well, is that so. Then let's see it." Michael insisted. "If that is what you came here for then...okay. To the basement!" Chobin shouted energetically. So the three made their ways to the elevator and soon came downstairs to the basement-laboratory of Chobin's bizzare home. The elevator ride was quick and they soon found themselves at the bottom where the place was dimly lit until Chobin flicked the switches up and it became fully bright inside. The vast basement was large enough to fit a mansion inside. Michael took a look around. He looked up at the ceiling. Chains and cranes held up large blue shimmering parts of machinery that resembled the limbs of the superancient Kyogre. He steered his eyes to his left and saw a large grey sheet covering something big and bulky resting on a platform. Most likely another essential piece of the upcoming mobile. "Well now Chobin," Michael said. "So far this looks good." He finished approaching the big, bulky segment of the soon to come Robotic Kyogre and was about to lift the sheet but Chobin's little hand swatted his hand away. "No peaking!" He squeaked. "Man!" Michael said dissapointed. "Hey big brother," Jovi turned to Michael. "What did you come here for anyway?" Michael's eyes seemed to have grown. "Crap! I forgot. C'mon Jovi, Mom wanted me to come get you. See ya later Chobin, gotta go." *** A dark and ominous island lay alone, west of Gateon Port. It was shrouded by a large and dangerous active hurricane. It was as if the hurricane was serving as a shield to ward off wondering ships carrying curious sailers or other meddlers. The island was occupied most dominantly by a volcano in the center with its boiling red magma popping large bubbles inside. But the one thing about this certain island was that a man-made facility which was created a while ago, seven years in fact and once more in use. Clad in white armor and white helmets, soldiers of some sort were patrolling the outside and inside of this place armed with pokeballs. In the Chief Executive room two of these soldiers not exactly dressed in white armor were just givien a mission each; find the ones called Michael and Wes, the heroes of the Orre region, Wes being the First Hero and Michael, the Second Hero. One person obviously a woman with her long pink hair excepted to find Michael whom she battled before a long time ago. The other, a man with also long and spiky crimson hair was already anxious to go after Wes. It seems that the old Cipher Syndicate is not over yet. Revenge was plotted to be very soon. End_of_Part_1_________________________________________________________ My pokemon techniques: The following pokemon moves are moves that I came up with myself. All other moves are found in pokemon games, anime, and trading card game. Ricochet:(Used by Vaporeon) Instead of the green shield, a cobalt blue shield is generated and can reflect any type of projectile back at the attacker with intensefied speed. Chill Scatter:(Used by Vaporeon) Vaporeon begins to glow a misty white and shoots bolts of freezing cold ice at negative temperatures beneath thirty degrees in many directions all at once. My Notes: The character Will with the Linoone, if you played the games you know him as Willy, the first person to battle the main character in Pokemon Colosseum. Thanx for reading The first chapter of Gale of Darkness...
