(While on the road to Verdanturf Town, our Heroes have decided to take a small detour from the path to catch a shortcut—Landon’s idea, no doubt. I hope the young group doesn’t get into trouble.) The sun shone down brightly on the vast plains below. The lush grass was so tall that it covered even the head of the average man. From above, the grass tops could be seen rustling wildly. Deep inside the thick maze, Landon lead the way through. He pushed the tall blades of grass to the sides, making a path for him and his friends to walk through. Toya, Phanpy, May, and Zeru followed while sweating anime style. “Don’t worry, you two; once I find a way back to the trail, we’ll be in Verdanturf Town in no time.” Landon assured his friends. “That’s exactly what you said five minutes ago! We’ve been walking through this grass jungle for an entire hour!” May shouted with her temple beating anime style. Zeru pulled out his poke’gear and pulled up the map with a few clicks of the button. “I can’t even tell where we are on the map.” He said. “Mudkip,” Toya let out a sigh. She was tired of walking by herself and jumped onto her trainer’s shoulder. “We would’ve been in Verdanturf Town already if a certain someone didn’t have to take a short cut through the tall grass.” May shot and Landon let out a sigh. “I’m getting tired and hungry!” “Such a drama queen.” “What was that?!” May pulled on Landon’s hair and he winced. “Nothing—I said NOTHING!” “Oh, geez! I had better find a way outta’ here before May makes me bald!” He thought. Once May relinquished his hair, he brushed the tear from his left eye and pushed through. Brrriiiiiing—riiinnnnggg! The poke’gear on Landon’s backpack strap rang and vibrated against his arm. “Oh! ‘Sounds like I’ve got some e-mail.” He pulled it off and pressed the button nearest to the envelope icon. May and Zeru crowded around him to see better. “It’s from Dad.” May blinked. “There’s a voice mail on here. I guess Professor Birch didn’t feel much up to typing.” Landon clicked a button on the side and it made a beeping sound. “Hey, Lan, long time and no see! When you get to Verdanturf Town, there’s a parcel for you from your grandfather. It May come in real handy during your journey— I guarantee it. Good luck and catch lots of Poke’mon!” With that, the message board on the poke’gear went blank. Landon smiled and placed it back on his backpack strap. “This is just another reason why we should find a way out of this maze.” May said.

Episode 26: “Pika-Power!”

Suddenly, Landon heard rustling in the grass before him. Through the thick blades he could see something moving towards him. It was too small to be a human, so that meant it could only be one thing. Landon reached to his belt, ready to draw his poke’ball like a cowboy would a gun. The footsteps drew close quickly—whatever was coming at them was running! “Landon, what’s up?” May asked. Zeru and Phanpy knew, but just folded their arms silently. “….it’s a Poke’mon!” The blades of grass split and a flying, green Poke’mon came rushing towards them. Its zigzagged stomach, curly tail, and chameleon-like features ran all to familiarly in Landon’s head. “Kecleeon!” It slid to a halt before them. Landon grinned and pulled the poke’ball with the lightning sticker on it. “Kecleon, I challenge you to a Poke’mon battle.” He expanded the poke’ball and tossed it before him. “Go, Pikachu!” It burst open and released Pikachu. “Pikachu-Pika!” Its cheeks lit up to a bright red. “Kecleon, Kecleon,” Kecleon clenched it fist and teeth. Landon grinned, “Okay, Pikachu, use your Thundershock attack!” “Chuuuu!” Pikachu’s glowing cherry cheeks discharged a fury of lightning bolts; they skipped across the grass and jolted Kecleon’s body. “Kee-e-eee-ee!” It shuddered. Pikachu gave a grin; its body barely felt the feedback of the shock at all. “Kecleon!” Kecleon kicked off the ground towards its opponent. It flashed its claws and swiped at Pikachu furiously. The mouse Poke’mon staggered backwards, shaking a bit from the pain. “That must be Kecleon’s Fury Swipes.” Landon frowned, “Hang in there, Pikachu!” He shouted. “Pika!” Pikachu skipped off to the side and darted with its head lowered; Kecleon jumped to dodge the Headbutt. Pikachu’s body shot from out of nowhere in another attempt. Again and again, Pikachu tried to ram Kecleon with its head. “Pika!” “Kecleon!” Pikachu hurled its tail through the air heavily, but Kecleon jumped up high, barely missing by hair’s width. Pikachu and Landon glanced up into the sky, glinting a bit from the sunlight. “Keckleooon!” Kecleon opened its mouth and shot its long, pink tongue at its opponent. “Bad move, Kecleon. Pikachu, strike with Thundershock!” Landon thrust his fist through the air. “Pii—ka—chuuuu!” Pikachu’s cheeks forced an electric shock through the air that connected with Kecleon’s wet tongue. The current traveled through it like a lightning rod and shocked Kecleon into submission. “Kee-eee-eee-eecleon!” It plopped on the ground, sparking. “Now, I’ll capture it.” Landon reached into his backpack and pulled out a spare poke’ball. “Poke’ball, go!” He hurled it through the air. The ball bounced off of Kecleon before sucking it up in a red light. Now, Landon stood and watched as it wobbled, trying to secure his catch. He, Toya, and Pikachu didn’t dare make a sound as they watched intensely. “There, you caught Kecleon. Now how about get moving outta’ this maze?” May shattered the silence. Landon shrugged his shoulders and let out a sigh, “She’s never gonna’ let me forget this….huh?”

The Poke’ball wobbled wildly around the grass before exploding with a bright light. “Kecleon!” Kecleon jumped out. “Ack! The poke’ball didn’t work!” Landon shriek. “Kecle—onnn!” Kecleon pulled down its lower eyelid and stuck out its tongue at Landon. Then it hopped away into the wild tall grass. “Hey! Get back here; I’m still trying to catch you!” Landon shouted and took off after it. Pikachu immediately tailed its trainer. “Hey, wait for us, Landon!” Zeru shouted and followed after them with May bringing up the rear. Landon pushed the tall grass out of his way as he ran. Kecleon was quick, but the battle had possibly slowed it down a few notches. Landon could keep track of it by seeing the grass it pushed back. When the Poke’mon turned, he would turn just as sharply. If it zigged, he zagged to match with a determination not to let it get away. May, Zeru, and Phanpy did a great job of keeping up with him; out of all their experience of being with Landon, they’ve learned about how he gets when he’s determined. “Hey, watch out!” “Huh?...dah!”

BANG! The next thing Landon knew, he and his friends crashed into someone else and resulted in his face hitting the ground. “Ohaaa…” Landon rubbed his head, “Okay, whoever you are, I’m gonna’ need to see some license and registration.” “What happened?” Zeru growled. May sat up and checked the Poke’mon egg in her arms frantically. Even though there wasn’t a scratch in sight, she repeatedly rubbed and smoothed it over. “…oh, wow; I never thought we’d run into our old buddies Landon, May, and Zeru.” A familiar voice sounded. Pikachu looked up and gave a smile. “Pika-pi! Pika-pi!” It jumped excitedly. “Who is it, Pikachu?” Landon glanced upwards as well. That green hair and those green eyes—who could mistake them? Landon stood up and smiled. “Well, well, well; it’s been a while since I’ve seen you, Wally.” He held out his hand and Wally shook it. Now, Wally was no longer the frail, sickly boy he met back in Pettalburg City. He wasn’t as pale and stood strong and tall. Just from glancing in his eyes, Landon could tell he was more confident in himself. Wally was wearing a blue, sleeveless shirt over a white shirt and blue pants that helped him look more confident as well. “Hey, don’t forget me!” Shoura waved to them. “How are you doing, Shoura?” Zeru asked and she flashed a thumbs-up to him. “We’ve been doing just fine. Collecting badges is no big for a team like us.” “Yeah, we’ve already been to five different gyms.” Wally smiled. “FIVE different gyms?!” “Mudkip!?” “Pika!?” Landon and his Poke’mon were taken aback by the news. Out of all they’ve been through, they’ve only been able to gain three trainer badges. “Wow, you’ve certainly gotten stronger than the last time we saw you; you definitely have an edge over Landon.” “Hey! He didn’t need to know that!” Landon shouted and May smiled.

From out of the corner of their eyes, Wally and Landon noticed that the grass was rustling again. “Oh-no, I forgot about Kecleon!” They shouted in unison. The two looked to each other, their eyes flashed with competitiveness. They both wanted to get that Kecleon, it was only a matter of who got to it first. Without warning, Landon and Wally dashed off through the grass, leaving their friends behind in their dust. “You don’t really think you’re going to catch this one, do you, Lan?” Wally grinned. “Just because you have five badges doesn’t mean a thing.” Landon grinned back. Kecleon’s body became visible through the tall grass as they closed in on it. Wally reached to his belt and pulled a poke’ball from it. “Pidgey, go!” He tossed it into the air and it burst open, revealing the flying bird Poke’mon. “Oh-no you don’t. Pikachu, use your Agility to catch up with Kecleon.” “Pika!” Pikachu nodded to Landon and sped up towards Kecleon like lightning. “Pidgey, use Gust attack!” Wally shouted. “Cukooo!” Pidgey clucked, soaring over Kecleon. It gave its wings a mighty flap and forced a powerful wind from the sky. “Kecleoooon!” Kecleon was blown off its feet and onto the ground. The two boys came to a stop when they were close enough to the battle. “Pikachu, attack with Thundershock!” Landon said. “Piikaachuuu!” Pikachu launched a bolt of electricity from its cheeks, shocking Kecleon with little feedback. “Kecleoooon,” Its eyes spun dizzily. “Now, I’ll try again.” Landon retrieved another poke’ball and Wally did the same. “Poke’ball, go!” The two boys hurled them through the air, both hoping that theirs would hit first. A frown spread on Kecleon’s face as it focused its eyes on the poke’balls. “Kecleon!” “What?!” in a split second, Kecleon’s body vanished into thin air, leaving the poke’balls to just open up on the grass. “Dang!” Landon and Wally snapped their fingers. “After all that, we still missed it.” “Oh, well,” Wally scratched his head. “Say, are you hungry, Lan?” Wally asked his friends. “Aren’t I always?” Landon flashed a thumbs-up. “Then let’s go get the others—Shoura and I set up camp around here an hour ago.”

Landon walked with Pikachu sitting quietly in his arms. Wally and Shoura led the way through the tall grass while May and Zeru brought up the rear. Pidgey soared above in the sky, guiding them to them to the campsite Wally told them about. “Landon, could I hold Pikachu for a while?” Wally asked. “Uh, sure, I guess.” Landon said. Wally turned around for a second and took Pikachu from his arms. “How are you doing, Pikachu?” He asked it. “Pikachu-Pika!” Pikachu smiled happily, its ears twitching. “Its fur is really smooth and shiny. And it doesn’t shock itself much when it attacks. You’ve been taking real good care of it.” Wally complimented. “Thank you,” Landon scratched his head, smiling. “And I just adore this Phanpy of yours, Zeru. It’s so cute, but tough.” “Phanpy-phanpy!” Shoura cuddled with Zeru’s Phanpy and it hugged her with her trunk. “Landon prepares all their food—we couldn’t cook if our lives depended on it.” May stated, smiling. “And what are you hatching over there?” Shoura asked her. “To be honest, I don’t know what’s inside. I just hope it’ll be very healthy, whatever it is.” May glanced down at the egg. Ever since she got it, she had felt strangely attached to the Poke’mon inside, even though she had no clue what it was. If it was sad or happy, she could feel it. “What have you been up to, anyway?” Zeru asked Wally and Shoura. “Well, we’ve been around, that’s all. We’re hoping we can get strong enough to compete in the Ruby and Sapphire League.” Shoura said. “What about you?” “It’s been pretty weird, I can tell you that much.” “You can say that again.” Landon thought in his head. “Cuckooo!” From above, Pidgey gave a loud cluck and pointed forward with one wing while using the other to stay aloft. “It looks like Pidgey has found the campsite.” Wally said, stroking Pikachu’s head. Pidgey came fluttering down to perch itself on its trainer’s shoulder. Wally stroked its crest gently and its body vibrated happily. “Nice work, Pidgey.” He said. The group pushed through a clump of tall grass and into a circular clearing. The grass there was dramatically shorter than the rest. Shoura’s and Wally’s backpacks were chucked near a corner of the tall grass walls. “See, May; this shortcut to Verdanturf Town wasn’t a total loss. If we hadn’t taken it, we wouldn’t have met up with our old pals.” Landon tried to justify his mistake. “Iipon to you, Lan.” May said (Iipon means “One wins”, “Winner”, or “To win”). Wally set Pikachu on the ground and it trotted back over to its trainer. “Landon, before we do anything else,” Wally ran over to the other side of the clearing, “I want to show you how much stronger I’ve gotten since we last met.” “A Poke’mon battle, eh? Who am I to say no?” Landon grinned. He was indeed eager to see what skills his friend had learned in his travels. And he was pretty sure that Wally wanted to see how he had improved as a trainer as well. “Why not make this a little interesting?” Shoura stepped up next to Wally. “What do you mean by that?” Landon blinked at her. Shoura reached to her belt and withdrew a Poke’ball. “Why not turn this into a two-on-two battle? After all, it’s what Wally and I specialize in.” The sound of that made Landon even more eager to battle. A two-on-two battle would help him learn to think on his feet. “I accept your challenge.” Landon told them. May, Zeru, and Phanpy stood on the sidelines from their other three friends. “Good luck, Landon!” “Yeah, we’re rooting for you!” “Phanpy!” They waved. “This should be an interesting match; it’s seldom that Landon fights a two-on-two by himself. At least, if you don’t count the inexperience of Team Darkhorn.” Zeru folded his arms. Landon pulled the Luxury ball from his belt and tossed it before him. “I choose Tambourine!” It burst open in a flash of light and Tambourine was release. “Fur-ur-urett!” Tambourine swished her tail happily. “And for my second Poke’mon, I choose Pikachu.” “Piikaa!” Pikachu scampered next to Tambourine on all fours. “Go!” Wally and Shoura tossed two poke’balls forward and they burst open upon contact with the ground. The Poke’mon that came from Shoura was yellow and pudgy with brown markings on its body from the stomach down to the back of its feet. Its snout and ears were sort and its eyes looked a little sleepy. “Droowwww…” It yawned. Wally’s Poke’mon looked like his Ralts, only its helmet of hair sprouted two pony tails to the side. Its eyes were sparkling red and its white body looked like it was wearing a tutu. As a matter of fact, the Poke’mon looked like some sort of dancer. “Kirlia,” It took a bow and waved at Landon. It obviously remembered who he was. “Okay,” Landon pulled out his Poke’dex and flipped it open, pointing it at Shoura’s Poke’mon first. Click-ick! “Drowzee, the Hypnosis Poke’mon. Drowzee’s diet consists of sweet dreams. This makes small children perfect targets for its appetite. However, if it consumes a nightmare, it will become very sick.” After Drowzee’s image clicked off, Wally’s Poke’mon appeared on the screen. “Kirlia, the Emotion Poke’mon. Kirlia is the evolved form of Ralts. It is said that this Poke’mon will grow beautiful if its trainer is filled with positive emotions.” Landon placed his Poke’dex back in his pocket and tossed his backpack to the side. Zeru stepped up and held his hands out to both sides. “It’s agreed that a two-on-two will be held.” He announced, “Ready? And….begin!” He jumped back and Landon’s face turned serious.

“Pikachu, use your Thundershock attack on both of them!” he opened up. “Pika-pika!” Pikachu stepped forward with its cherry cheeks lighting up. They forced out two wild jolts of sparking electricity that bounced across the grass. “Quick, use Protect!” Wally and Shoura shouted in unison. “Kirliii!” “Drowzeeee!” Drowzee and Kirlia moved their hands in a weird way. The air before them rippled like water before forming a green, transparent wall like magic. The lighting flailed against it and fizzled out. “Did you see that?” May asked and Zeru nodded, “Yeah; they’re counter-move was nearly in perfect synch. Those two must battle like this all the time and learned what move the other will make before they make it.” He said. Landon was kind of shocked from their first move, but shook it off for a fresh attempt. “Pikachu, Tambourine, use Quick Attack!” He exclaimed. Like the wind, Pikachu and Tambourine darted off in the opposite directions. They were nothing but a yellow-brown and milk-brown blur; their strikes were swift and harsh as they crashed into the tow psychic Poke’mon. “Grrrr!” They growled, staggering a bit from the sharp hits. “Drowzee, Disable!” Shoura shouted. “Ddrowzee,” Drowzee put its hands together and closed its eyes. A blue aura form its psycho-kinetic powers formed around it body lightly. Suddenly, the same blue aura surrounded both its opponents dead in their tracks. “Fur?” “Pi?” The two blinked at each other, sweating anime style. “Now, Kirlia, use your Confusion Attack on them.” Wally stated. “Kirli-li-li-li!” Kirlia started to pirouette on one foot like a deft ballet dancer. Just like Drowzee, a psycho-kinetic aura formed around Kirlia’s body. Drowzee’s aura that was surrounding Landon’s Poke’mon was turned from blue to purple—now, power was switched to Kirlia. “Kir-li-a!” The dancing Poke’mon made an abrupt stop and its eyes flashed purple. “Dahhh!” Tambourine and Pikachu were hurled onto the ground harshly. “Pikachu, Tambourine are you two okay?” Landon asked his Poke’mon. “Furrett-Furrett,” “Pikachu,” Tambourine helped Pikachu up to its feet and the two flashed a thumb-up. “Whew! That’s good to hear.” Landon looked up to Wally and Shoura, “Your Poke’mon are strong. You two have been training well.” “You still haven’t seen the best part, Landon.” Wally said. “Then we can’t wait to see. Tambourine, you and Pikachu use Thunder Punch!” Furret!” “Pika-pika!” Tambourine and Pikachu darted towards the tow psychic Poke’mon with their fists drawn back; they sparked with a sharp white lightning. As powerful as the coming attack was, Wally and Shoura remained calm and collected. Both of them glanced at each other and nodded. “Huh?” Landon frowned as he thought to himself, “What could they be thinking? Did I….do something wrong?” “Kirlia, stop Furret with your Hypnosis attack!” Wally stated. “Kirlia-kirlia!” Kirlia responded to its trainer by spinning around and around on one foot. Faint, but visible waves of hypnotic power flowed through the air, directed towards Tambourine. The ferret Poke’mon was rushing way too swiftly and closely to change her direction. The Hypnosis smacked Tambourine in the face gently, causing her vision to blur for a slight second. Her running became terribly slow as every muscle in her body became relaxed. She dropped her sparking fist and came to a complete stop.

“Hey…I feel weird…” Landon wobbled in place and found it hard to stay on his feet. Both his and Tambourine’s eyelids became heavy and drowsy. “…oh-no (*yawn*), “I’m linking with my Poke’mon without…..the Crystal Bell again. But I can’t go to sleep now—we’ll lose!” Landon dropped to the ground and curled up along with his Poke’mon. “Hey! You can’t just fall asleep!” Wally and Shoura shouted. “What are you doing, Himura!?” Zeru stated. “Pika!” Pikachu slid to halt and glanced back at its trainer and comrade. “Well, it’s his loss. Drowzee, absorb Furrett’s energy with Dream Eater!” Shoura said. “Drowzee! Drowzee!” Drowzee’s snout lifted in Tambourine’s direction, sucking at the air. Tambourine’s energy turned into a physical form of red light that snaked away from her and into the tapeworm’s mouth. “Mmmm!” It smiled at the sweet-tasting dream. Tambourine’s face presented a disgusted and somewhat frightened expression. Landon’s face was just as sour as they twitched and moved in their sleep. The longer Drowzee continued to feast, the faster and more energy it absorbed. Pikachu dashed over to Tambourine and started shaking her body. “Pikachu-pika-pika! Pikachu!” It prodded her in the cheek with its tail. It needed to find a way to wake them up, or else, it would have to battle without a trainer or a partner. “Grrr!” Landon growled from his nightmare, which made Pikachu more frantic.  “Pikaa,” Pikachu turned to Tambourine. It put its tail to her body and its cheeks lit up. “Piiikachuuuu!” SPWEEE! A jolt of lightning surged through both Tambourine and Landon, causing them both to jump into the air. “Geeeze! Not so hard next time!” Landon started to sweat anime style. Pikachu just scratched its head and smiled at its accomplishment. “Furret-Furrett,” Tambourine shook herself fully awake. Toya, who had been sitting on the sidelines, gazed at the battle with an air of boredom. She wished it was her out there swapping blows instead of cheering. “Thanks a lot, Pikachu.” Landon gave his Poke’mon a thumbs-up. “Pika-Pi-Pika!” Pikachu smiled. Drowzee looked a little disappointed from being interrupted during its meal. It put its hands on its hips and tapped its foot against the ground. “That was smart of your Pikachu to use its shock as an alarm clock, Landon.” Shoura complimented. “You’ve raised it well.” Wally added. Then, the two went serious, “But we can’t let you win this one. Use  Headbutt!” “Kirli!” “Drow!” Kirlia and Drowzee dashed forward with their heads lowered. BANG! They crashed into Landon’s Poke’mon, knocking them down. Pikachu and Tambourine sat up, shook their bodies, then looked to each other. At first, Wally thought he caught a glimpse of them grinning, but their watering eyes clearly meant something else. Pikachu was the first to face to face Kirlia and Drowzee with a sad expression. Tambourine’s eyes wobbled, too full with ready-to-burst emotion. The two let out a snivel with their eyes getting bigger. Without warning, they let out a stream of tears, crying loudly. “Kirlia?” “Drowzee-drowzee?” Kirlia questioned its partner, who shrugged its shoulders. The two let out a sigh and sweated anime style as they stepped closer. They felt sorry for hurting them so hard and wanted to comfort them. “Piii!” “Fuuuurr!” Pikachu and Tambourine bawled. Kirlia put a hand on Pikachu’s shoulder and Drowzee did the same for Tambourine. “Piiii-kachuuuu!” SPWEEE! Suddenly, Pikachu’s body burst with electricity that shot the two psychic Poke’mon back to the ground heavily.

“Hey! What was that for!?” Shoura shouted. “It’s a Fake Tears attack.” Landon started to explain, “It seems pretty harmless and quite innocent—at first!” He grinned. “Fine, then let’s wrap this battle up, Landon.” Wally said. “I agree; Pikachu, jump on Tambourine’s back and use Dig!” Landon stated. “Pika!” Pikachu leapt onto Tambourine’s back, gripping her fur so it wouldn’t fall off. “Fur-ur!” Tambourine jumped and dove head-first underneath the dirt. “Go, rapid digging!” “Dang, it’s gonna’ be murder getting this out of their fur.” Landon gripped the Crystal Bell and started to sweat. If there was ever a time that he needed the Crystal Bell to react by his will, now was the time. He hoped Tambourine and Pikachu could feel his thoughts like before. Tambourine popped up from one side, then burrowed back under again. She did this several times, baffling everyone except her trainer and Partner. “What is Landon doing?” May blinked. “I have no idea—I’ve never seen anything like this.” Zeru told her. “Now!” Landon shouted. Tambourine leapt out of a hole and faced Kirlia and Drowzee. Only, this time, She was alone—Pikachu was still underground! “Tambourine, use Taunt!” “Furr-urr!” Tambourine turned around and started swishing her tail in an annoying way. Kirlia’s and Drowzee’s temples beat anime style; the were so annoyed, that they charged recklessly without thinking. “No, wait!” “Don’t do that!” Wally and Shoura tried to stop their Poke’mon, but it was too late. The two were already knee-deep in Landon’s trap. “Thunderbolt attack!” “Fur!” Tambourine jumped out of the holes she built. Kirlia and Drowzee, however, were still charging blindly. From underneath the ground, Pikachu’s voice could be heard. “Piiiikaaa—chuu!” The holes exploded with a furious barrage of electricity that rained all over Kirlia and Drowzee. “Ah!” “Ack!” “Whoa!” Everyone gasped. Landon grinned and folded his arms as a cloud of dust kicked up wildly.

The smoke finally cleared on the battlefield. Tambourine and Pikachu were up on their feet, grinning. Wally and Shoura waited till the dust on their side blew away. Kirlia and Drowzee were sprawled out on the ground, scratched up a bit form the massive shock. “….No way!” Wally and Shoura exclaimed. “Yeah! We did it!” Landon grabbed his Poke’mon by the paws and leapt into the air excitedly. “Great job, guys.” Wally and Shoura helped their Poke’mon to their feet. Then, Wally turned to Landon, “I guess I still have a lot more training to do before I can ever beat you, Landon.” He said. “Huh?” Landon glanced to him, “I don’t think that’s true at all. Now, how about those sandwiches?” His stomach gave a rumble.

With a full plate of sandwiches in front of them, the only sound coming from Landon and his Poke’mon were their eating noises. Shoura and May chatted lightly while Zeru had to stop Phanpy form gobbling his share as well as hers. “Phanpy, stop being greedy—there’s enough for the both of us!” he told her. “You two still didn’t tell us why you were over here.” Landon asked Wally, pulling his sandwich away from Toya as she tried to dive at it. “I have relatives in Verdanturf Town. They wanted to check up on me, so I told them we would be coming.” Wally told him. A smile spread on Landon’s face, “We’re going to Verdanturf Town too. We’re going to compete in the Poke’mon contest prelims they’re holding there. Nobody knows it yet, but I’m gonna’ be the one to win the first-place ribbon!” He held up a fist. He felt totally confident that his abilities and Poke’mon would totally blow the competition away. But then, didn’t he always feel that way? “Mudkip!” “Hey!” Landon caught Toya by the tailfin, for she had finally made a successful attempt on his sandwich. “Out of all those on that plate, you steal mine?!” He scolded her. “Huh?” Suddenly, Landon’s eyes flickered dangerously. It was one of those rare moments he could feel the wind parting swiftly towards his friends and himself. Quickly, he unsheathed the Sakaba-tou and turned with a swift swing. “Hu!” Pfpfth! A fairly-sized rock met his blade and crumbled into tons of pieces. Wally, Shoura, May, Zeru, and Phanpy gave a shocked look—even though they had been with Landon for so long, they still weren’t used to him doing that. Landon’s eyes focused on the direction the rock came from. Who would be dumb enough to dare throw something so dangerous at him and his friends? “Landon!” “Huh?” Landon, with his eyes turning back to normal, turn to see a few black nets shoot from the sky. They wrapped around Toya, Pikachu, Tambourine, Kirlia, and Drowzee. One even twisted itself around Landon’s backpack, the plate of sandwiches, and May’s Poke’mon egg. “Hey!” May exclaimed. Everyone got to their feet quickly and looked up. The cries of the Poke’mon echoed as the nets were drawn up to a black helicopter with the Team Darkhorn symbol painted on the front and sides. From the driver’s seat, Yoshimari and Tsubimi grinned down at their victims. “Not you guys again!” Landon shouted. The grass and everyone’s hair swayed a little from the wind being produced by the helicopter’s blades. “Those are the ones who attacked us back at the Pettalburg gym!” Wally stated. “Yeah, those two have made it a personal habit of following us everywhere we go.” Zeru said, grateful that Phanpy was out of the net’s reach. “Phanpy-anpy!” She shouted. Yoshimari and Tsubimi stuck half of their bodies out of the helicopter, “A stealth like dark, we’re shadows of the night.” “Blanketing over those who do things right.” “We’re treasure glitters, we’re there to—”

Sorry about this; the episode was a wee bit lengthy in the front. However, this is still the end of Part one of this episode.

THIS IS THE END OF PART 1.
