Landon poked his head out of the alleyway and let his eyes wander around. The city seemed to be clear enough—not a single Poke’mon was in sight. He looked one way while Toya looked the other way. Landon’s eyes fell on the generator and he frowned. The lights around the area flickered once more, becoming a little brighter. “Everything seems clear. How much time do we have left, Zeru?” Landon told his friends. “We only have twenty-six minutes left and we’re nowhere near the generator. Do you think we can still make it?’ Zeru asked. “We have to make it; if we don’t, all of Mauville will go up in flames.” May said, staring at the ground emotionally. “Just think of all the Poke’mon and People who’ll be caught in it.” “We can’t afford to sit around, talking. Let’s get over there right now.” Landon got to his feet and started through the alley. May and Zeru followed with the same determination. Landon jogged through the shadows, frowning. SPWEE! “Hah!” He suddenly leapt back and the others came to a stop as a bolt of lightning bounced from the end of the alleyway. The Poke’mon twitched its black-tipped ears and lit up its bright red cheeks. “Pika, chu!” Pikachu arched its back at them. From around the other corner, two more Pikachu came hissing and sparking. “Why won’t they let us through?” Zeru growled. Landon reached to his belt and pulled the poke’ball marked with the lightning sticker. “I choose Raichu!” He threw it and it bounced off the ground; it opened with a flash of light and Raichu appeared at its trainer’s feet. “Raicha, cha,” It scratched its ear with its foot. “Raichu, give these Pikachu a Thunderbolt attack. Landon said. Raichu nodded and got to its feet. Once it clenched its fists, its yellow creeks sparked lively. “Raaiiiiiichaaaa!” Its cheeks burst with a shot of red lightning that forced the Pikachu back onto the ground. “Raichu,” Raichu grinned. “Good job, Raichu. Let’s go!” Landon started to run for it again with his friends following. Raichu jumped into his arms to get a free ride.

They burst out of the dark alley, darted past the Pikachu, and bound around the corner. Landon looked around for a place they could use to implement their strategy. Any place would do as long as nothing could sneak up on them. “Hey, Landon, I just thought about something. How are we supposed to get ever over that steel wall guarding the generator?” May asked him. “Well…I guess Zeru and I could try to break through, or we could use one of our Poke’mon to get over it. But right now, we need to find a safe place to form a plan.” “How abut over there?” Zeru pointed to a small little restaurant. It was the only building of which the lights weren’t turned on. Landon grinned and sprinted to it. He pulled the door in and let his friends go in first before following in himself. With a slam of the door, the bell overhead rattled wildly. Inside of the restaurant was dark and quiet. The small cushion-seated chairs sat at small round tables topped with salt and pepper shakers. The tiles of the floor were checkered and the walls were striped with purple. The front counter was clean and polished to perfection, even though it was vacant. An inactive jukebox sat along the wall to add character to the restaurant. Raichu and Toya admired its rainbow of colors and buttons. “I don’t think any Poke’mon are in here, so we’re safe for the time being.” Zeru said. May and Landon let out a sigh and plopped onto the floor. “Whew! I’m beat!” They said in unison. Zeru explored around the counter, looking at the shake machines on the back wall. Raichu and Toya walked over to the juke box to get a closer look. “Hmmmm….” Landon scratched his head—there had to be some way to get to the generator quicker. Suddenly, the sound of music went bouncing around the entire vacant restaurant. Landon, May, and Zeru averted their attention to the jukebox to see Toya and Raichu pressing buttons until they found the “off” switch. Their cheeks went pink from the embarrassment they had just received. Landon chuckled, shaking his head. That’s when his eyes fell on something floating above the counter behind Zeru. It looked kind of like something out of a video game—a virtual duck that was mostly pink with blue marks on its body. It stared at Landon with its glaring eyes. However, there was a difference in its eyes; they didn’t glow red like the confused Poke’mon. “Z-Z-Zeru, look out—right there—it’s right there!” Landon stammered, pointing to the Poke’mon. “What?” May and Zeru looked to where he was pointing. When they saw the strange Poke’mon, they sported the same shocked look as Landon.

“Dah!” Zeru jumped back with his fist poised to attack. “Not another one!” May exclaimed. “What is it?” Landon opened his Poke’dex yet again. “Porygon, the Virtual Poke’mon. Since it’s man-made and doesn’t breath, scientists are eager to try it out in different environments. This Poke’mon can travel through the internet.” It said. “What are humans doing here? This area is off limits to anyone.” “It can talk!” Landon exclaimed. “I do not wish to fight with you humans, so I’m giving you a fair warning.” Porygon told them. “Why don’t you tell that to the Poke’mon who attacked us earlier!” Zeru said a bit irritably. May shot him a mean look and stepped in front of him. Raichu and Toya clambered onto Landon’s shoulder, feeling more secure with their trainer. “Excuse me, Porygon, but we’re not trying to hurt anything. We’re just trying to shut the generator that threatens to—” “No! You humans put that generator down here and knew it would be overpowered to the point where it would destroy the ruins of Registeel!” Ruins of RegisteelLandon clenched his teeth and frowned. “But we didn’t’ do it, we’re trying to keep it from blowing up!” May stated. “Nonsense; I am the protector of these ruins and am not to let anyone enter them. I must take care of that generator myself and that’s why I let all of those Poke’mon attack you.” May started at the ground in defeat; she felt that there was no way of getting through to Porygon Landon, however, was more intrigued with what Porygon had said earlier about the ruins. Now, it was his turn to step up and questioned the Poke’mon. “My name is Landon Himura.” He removed the Crystal Bell from around his neck and held it out before the Poke’mon, “You said something about the ruins of Registeel?” Porygon gazed at the Crystal Bell, then to Landon. Its eyes started to glow and the world around them went into a black oblivion. The Crystal Bell started to vibrate and glow in a light blue. “Huh?” Landon let his eyes wander around, his voice echoing. “You’re an Origin Waker, aren’t you?” Porygon asked. “How did you know that?” Landon put the Crystal Bell back around his neck. Toya and Raichu clung to his shoulders, not daring to move. “The bell—that’s your identification as an Origin Waker. It rings to show that it really does belong to you.” Porygon told Landon. “What my friend says is true; we are here only to help.” “….I guess you check out. If you can help get rid of that generator, then I shall lead you to it through a shortcut in the ruins of Registeel.” Porygon nodded. There was a rush of strong wind and Landon’s hair swayed wildly. The abandoned restaurant came flying back into focus instantly.

“Huh?” “Rai?” “Mudkip?” Landon, Raichu, and Toya blinked. Everything seemed as if the short and secret conversation never existed. “Okay, I’ll help you three. But you have to do your best to help us not blow up.” Porygon told them. A smile spread on May’s face and she looked up gleefully. “Oh, thank you, Porygon.” “We only have ten minutes exactly—we have to work fast!” Zeru said, glancing at his poke’gear. Now, the numbers were yellow instead of green. Porygon floated over to the jukebox and used its beak to press the button on the lower left. There was a rumbling sound as the music machine started to vibrate; it slowly slid to the side, revealing a short rocky corridor. A light breeze blew from inside like a cool breath. “Hurry!” Porygon told them. Landon was the first to run in, followed by May, Zeru, and Porygon. Through the corridor, they burst into a large, long room of shimmering chrome and stone. Pieces of the room were ancient, but it only added to its beauty. On the walls were engraved pictures of the steel Poke’mon titan Landon saw on the wall of the Petalburg ruins. The floor was littered with silver rings, cups, and jewels, each depicting as story about Registeel. The vast room was a lit by a few glowing orbs that floated atop the ceiling. At the end of the room, a tall pillar-like tower was constructed right under a small sparking hole in the ceiling. On it were more picture stories, but of all three Poke’titans this time. At the base of the pillar were tons of electric Poke’mon. Their eyes were an agitated red and their bodies sparked with more electricity the closer the humans got.

Porygon floated on ahead to reached the Poke’mon before Landon and his friends. “Stand down,” It said to them, “They are here to help us. Please do not attack our only chance to survive this.” The electric Poke’mon looked at it skeptically, but didn’t’ say a word. The sparkling of their bodies decreased to show that their guard was down. Landon came to a stop at the foot of the pillar and looked up. “Okay, what do I do from here?” He blinked. “At the top of the pillar is an open bulb. Your Crystal Bell is the only thing strong enough that can retain the generator’s power.” Porygon told him, “If you can absorb all of the power from it, it should shut down completely.” “Right,” Landon nodded, hoping that he could tap the dormant powers in his crystal Bell. He let out a sigh and placed a hand on the pillar. With only five minutes left to go, he didn’t have time to waste. KABOOOM! Suddenly, the ruin room started to shake as a hole was blown in the right wall. A Voltorb was dropped onto the floor carelessly by the feet of Yoshimari and Tsubimi. “You two!” Zeru and May exclaimed. “A stealth like dark, we’re shadows of the night.” “Blanketing over those who do things right.” “Where treasure glitters, we’re there to claim.” “To higher riches, we’ll surely aim.” “We’re Team Darkhorn, the pirate thieves.” “Don’t mess with us; you’re out of your league!” Team Darkhorn recited their motto.

Up above, the entire city of New Mauville was glowing a warning red. The turbine of the generated turned vigorously as it smoked and sparked wildly. The pressure of the on-coming explosion forced it to rumble heavily. Yoshimari and Tsubimi both sported bags over their shoulders. “What’s in the bag, huh?” Zeru asked. “Well, if you must know, we’ve decided to take some silver treasures back with us.” Yoshimari answered him. “Hey, you can’t steal from here; this is a sacred place!” Porygon roared. “Like we care.” Tsubimi let out a yawn. Landon nodded to Raichu and it leapt off his shoulder. “Raichaaa!” It’s cheeks sparked. “Raichu, use Thunderbolt attack!” Landon exclaimed. “Chuuuuu!” Raichu shot a dangerous duo of red lightning from its cheeks. But instead of being worried, Tsubimi and Yoshimari grinned. “Sorry, kiddo’, but there will be no shocking for us today.” From under her cloak, Tsubimi pulled a thin metal rod, which grew longer upon contact, and thrust it between a crack in the ground. The electricity pelted the rod and was grounded. “Grrrr!” Landon growled. “Ha! There’s no way you can shock us now—” There was a flash of light and Tsubimi’s Aipom came bursting out of its poke’ball. “Hey, who told you to come out?” She scolded it as it danced around. “Aiipom-Aipom! Aaiii……Aipom?” The monkey Poke’mon stopped as it gazed at the lightning rod. “….Aipom-pom!” It pulled it up and tried to give it back to its trainer. “Ack! You dummy—put that back right now!” Tsubimi said. “Go, Raichu, use Thunderbolt!” “Raiiiichuuuu!” Raichu’s cheeks burst with electricity that darted for the lightning rod in playful Aipom’s hands. “Everyone, shock attack too!” Porygon shouted. All of the electric Poke’mon fired their electrical attack; each bolt struck the lightning rod and there was a small explosion. “Whaaaaa!” Team Darkhorn cried as they were blasted through the hole they had created, dropping the bags of goods.

Without a second thought, Landon jumped to the pillar and started to shimmy up it. Raichu followed right behind to offer any help it could. A drop of sweat fell from his head as he climbed. “Lan, you only have a minute left!” Zeru called. It wasn’t exactly comforting news, in any case. “No pressure, right?” He thought to himself. To tell the truth, the cool metal felt better against his warm body. His friends and the Poke’mon down below watched intensely, holding their breath. “Wha!” Landon slipped slightly and there was a gasp from below. He perked himself up and stepped to the top. Just like Porygon said, there was a bowl on a slender pole that was just small enough for the Crystal Bell to fit. Raichu clambered up and stood beside its trainer. “Well…here goes,” Landon placed the Crystal Bell in the spot; it started to glow and vibrate lightly. Landon kept his hand on it to try and concentrate its power. The Crystal Bell suddenly erupted with a blue wind that shot up to the hole above. A mixture of wind and lightning started to draw mass amounts of energy down. Raichu stepped back, but stuck close to its trainer. The entire room trembled heavily; statues and vases toppled onto the floor with a crash of clatter. Landon’s hair swayed wildly from the wind the power was creating. No matter what, he kept his focus on willing the energy from the generator. May and Zeru stared in awe at the spectacle. “He’s…actually doing it!” May exclaimed.

The electricity came rushing form the generator in vast quantities. The power was so much that Landon started to feel a little faint. It was as if there was no end to the output of energy. “Mudkip! Mudkip!” “Rai-ah!” His Poke’mon tried t lift him by cheering him on. Landon fell to one knee, clenching his teeth. “The power….there’s too much! I’m gonna’ be sick—I don’t think I can keep going!” He thought to himself. “Is that all that the great Landon—the boy with the power of both worlds—has?” a sudden deep voice rang in Landon’s head. He opened his eyes to see the very same Poke’mon he saw on the picture before him. Registeel’s features were undeniable; that black middle, those claws and body, and the hexagon marking on its face. “You’ll never defeat me like that, you upstart. I’m almost ashamed to give this to you.” Registeel opened its claw to reveal a small, shimmering silver light. It shot into his left palm like a speedy dart and burned him. “Ahhaa!” He winced, falling back. He wasn’t sure if the others had seen Registeel, but didn’t care if they did. He just wanted somebody to stop him from falling. The wind rushed in his ears and the Crystal Bell was still absorbing the power in his hand. In his left palm, the symbol of a steel blade was marked under the other two to form a triangle shape. Now, he had all three pieces of the Fang sword. “I got him!” May and Zeru held out their hands, catching Landon, Raichu, and Toya. The vibrating bell finally cut off the blue wind and the electricity dispersed. From above, the generator slowed to a complete stop, becoming calm and silent. Zeru’s clock on his poke’gear just started to beep from the elapsing at the last second. The eyes of the electric Poke’mon lost their red glow and became calm. “Yaaah!” they exclaimed happily. “Landon, hey, its your friends.” May’s voice sounded in Landon’s ears. Landon’s eyes trembled and he rolled over. All he really wanted to do was rest and sleep. “Thank you,” Porygon smiled to the humans, “As thanks for helping us, I shall teleport you back to the surface.” The Poke’mon’s body became outlined in a rainbow color to show its psychic power. The three humans and their Poke’mon became outline in rainbow as well and vanished into the air.

At the Poke’mon Center, May, Zeru, and Watson stood in the door of the rental room. The light in the hall flowed slightly into the room. Landon and Toya snored soundlessly in the bed, not able to be awaken at all. They looked kind of cute in such a docile state. “I can’t tell you how much I appreciate you three doing this.” Watson whispered to May and Zeru. “No, problem,” “Besides, Landon just needs some rest.” May and Zeru told him. “Here is something for your trouble.” Watson reached into his pocket and pulled out a small, pearly scale. “It’s a dragon scale I found. You can have it if you want.” He said. “Cool!” Zeru took it up. “And a little word of advice,” Watson started, “If you are going through Regal Desert, make sure you have a way to see through the constant sandstorms.” The three glanced at Landon and smiled.
