Poke’mon X

Hi, and welcome to the very last episode of “Poke’mon X”! I hope you’re as excited as I am. Now, some may think Thaisamba Dragon’s crazy for celebrating the last episode so joyously. But be assured: this is the last episode of “Poke’mon X”, not the last of Landon and his Poke’mon journey. So after the movie (which comes after this episode), enjoy an all new season.

The night sky was once again moonless, but made up for it with a dazzling display of thinking stars. A few purple clouds drifted through the sky overhead the busy bustle of Fallabor Town. The yellow-bricked roads were a lit with the dazzling colors of rainbow paper lanterns. Tons of festival stands were open, selling tons of Fallabor city souvenirs. The town was really lit up beautifully like a glowing jewel. The smells of food drifted heavily through the nocturnal air. The most lively of the entire town were the people and their Poke’mon. The humans were dressed in elegant kimonos and the Poke’mon wore, if not kimonos themselves, colorful party favors. (Tonight, our story takes place in Fallabor Town a day just before the New Year’s Festival. And even though our story doesn’t quite start out with our heroes, you can be sure that excitement will still be at hand.)

The sound of rushing wind whizzed through the air; four black figures could barely be seen leaping from the roof tops of the houses. They jumped over the dark alley and onto another house. Nobody even noticed these stealthy humans, for their outfits were nearly as black as the night. The group of four continued to jump in the direction of the tall and beautiful Japanese-style castle. They jumped over one of the busy streets of which the lighting slightly illuminated their silhouetted figures. They wore black cloaks with hood hiding their faces in their shadows. On the back of their cloaks was the tan triceratops symbol of Team Darkhorn. Surrounding the large and branched out castle besides a bunch of trees, was a giant stone wall. The castle sat atop a hill, accessible by means of a long upward stone staircase. The wall guarding the base of the hill the castle was on had a black gate at the front. Orange paper lanterns hung from the magnificent structure, lighting it dimly. A man in a police outfit; walked back and forth in front of the gate. He let his flashlight beam flow onto the floor slowly. By the sleepy expression on his face, he looked pretty bored. “Oh, maaaaaan,” He let out a yawn, “Nothing ever happens around here. Who in their right mind would want to break into this old castle—” “That would be us.” “Huh?” The security guard whirled around with his flashlight poised. But the light beam just fell on the black of the distance. He blinked and scratched his head, “….That’s weird. I thought I heard some—urrgh!” From out of nowhere, a pair of hands pressed a cloth to his face; fumes of chloroform drifted from the fabric, causing him to faint. “Ha!” A Darkhorn member stepped from the shadows, “That was all too easy, eh, Mr. Manic?” She spoke from under her hood. “We didn’t come here to chloroform every guard around—not that they’ll remember any of this. We came for the power source.” A voice said behind her. The Darkhorn grunts came into the scarce light to approach the front gate. The one known as manic took a pointed rod from underneath his cloak; he thrust it through the gate lock and wrenched it off. There was a low, but long creak from the slow-moving bars. “Let’s go!” Manic ordered and lead his team up the stone steps.

Their footsteps tapped lightly against the rock. The group of Team Darkhorn members didn’t’ seem to waste any energy from all of the hassle they were putting up. They slowed down to push open the sliding doors of the castle and walked inside.

Team Darkhorn walked slowly through the long, dim halls of the castle. They all used flashlights to light their way. The corridors were dusty; they haven’t been wandered through in a while. Sometimes, they would pass a window with a paper lantern lit. Along the walls were tons of ancient hieroglyphs—ancient Unown writing! “This place gives me the creeps.” The female grunt stated. “It should; it’s home to something scary.” Manic stated. The lady let the light catch her face, revealing her smooth skin, green eyes, and some of her taupe hair. “What exactly is in her that Mr. Miru wants?” She asked. Manic allowed the light to catch his face as well, revealing his dark sunglasses. Still walking, he ran his hand along the painted walls. Weirdly, they were created of a thin, but sturdy stone. “This castle—Silver Castle—was once used as a means to call legendary Poke’mon. They and special humans would communicate with each other and benefit from each other.” “But they don’t use it now?” One of the other grunts asked. “To sum it up; some humans got really greedy and decided to use the power of summoning legendary Poke’mon to gain power. By doing that, the castle’s power reacted to their greed by giving it a physical form. It is said that the darkness—whatever it was—brought chaos to Fallabor Town. It only lasted on the full moon of the New Year, though. But still—it could’ve brought the entire world to rubble if it wanted to!” Manic answer. “So….how are we any different?” The female grunt asked. “We’re here to take control of that power; the power source that can only be created by the New Year’s Moon. With this power, we’ll be able to power up Delta.” Manic came to a stop in front of a giant stone wall marked with tons of ancient Unown symbols. He let his flashlight run along it until it came to an Unown that looked like a quarter moon. “….this is it, I think.” He pressed his hand against it; the moon slid into the wall slowly. Suddenly, the castle started to rumble a little bit. Team Darkhorn clenched their fists, but were otherwise calm. The giant stone wall split in the middle, parting to either side. It was like an ancient Egyptian tomb, revealing its secrets to the eager explorers. Beyond the threshold was a grand room; there were tons of stone Poke’mon statues that littered about. Driving straight up the middle was a long carpet. It crawled up the small staircase and stopped at a wall full of another kind of ancient writing. At the base of the hieroglyph mural was a very wicked-looking purple dragon. The mouth of the painting had a hole in it. “That’s it; let’s hurry this up.” Manic lead the way across the red carpet, reaching the wall painting first. He reached into his cloak pocket and pulled out a small, cylindrical glass container. Inside, a black speck of light beat against the glass wildly. “All I have to do is put the Dark Seed there and we’ll have what we came for. “ Manic tipped the container into the hole and popped the top, allowing the speck of light to bounce into the stone mouth. Like some kind of jumping bean, it beat around the inside until it eventually settled in the middle. “……huh?” The grunt in the back started to sweat; he could’ve sworn he had seen the painting’s eyes flash red. “Err….Maybe we should leave. After all, Manic, the New Year’s Darkness may just be a myth.” “Don’t be a coward, Dukes. We’re not paid to chicken out.” Manic stated simply. “Mr. Manic, look!” The female grunt pointed out in front of her. Manic started to sweat a little bit in effort to hide his shocked expression. The eyes of the dragon painting glowed a deadly crimson. “As if that weren’t enough, the symbols along the wall started to radiate with a blackish—purple aura. “W-w-what’s going on?” The remaining unnamed grunt stuttered. “See! I told you! Let’s get out of here!” But before anyone could even make a move, there was a bright flash of red from the eyes of the painting. “Yaaaaaah!” The screams of Team Darkhorn echoed throughout the entire castle shrilly.

Episode 34: “Shadow of a Bout—Break the Curse, Landon!”

A few fireworks burst into the orange and yellow sky, fizzling out in a puff of white smoke. The people and Poke’mon of Fallabor Town were still active and lively. Fallabor stood right next to Mt. Chimney, but was upwind of the raining gray ashes. “Oh—how I luuuuuuvv the New Years Festival!” “Mudkip-kip!” Landon and Toya exclaimed excitedly. Landon had a box of sizzling marinated oysters in his hands. Toya sat on his head, gobbling down a stick of red cotton candy. May and Phealine were sucking on lollipops in the shape of a star. Zeru and Phanpy were sharing a box of popcorn. The group walked through the crowded streets happily. They were just as excited about the New Years Festival as the people. Time had caught up to them, for they hadn’t realized that this would be the first New Years away from their home town of Littleroot. “But the best thing about the New Years Festival has got to be the food!” “Everything’s food with you.” May and Zeru told Landon, sweating anime style.

(Background goes black and a spotlight flashes onto Zeru.) “Personally, I think that the fireworks are the best part of the New Years Festival.” “Oh, get real!” May came form out of nowhere and pushed Zeru out of the spotlight for herself, “The best thing about the New Years Festival are the costumes and the dancing.” “You’re both nuts.” Landon used some kind of remote device to shift the spotlight off of May and onto himself, “The food’s obviously the best—” “Say’s you!” “That’s right!” Landon pushed May away from the spotlight. Zeru let out a sigh and snapped his fingers. The black background disappeared and the spotlights vanished. “This is getting us nowhere.” He started walking with Phanpy crawling onto his shoulder. “I have an idea; let’s buy some new kimonos and celebrate.” May suggested. For once, the boys had no quarter with May’s shopping and agreed with her. She walked in front of Zeru and took the lead of their group at a jog. Landon and Zeru followed, still eating. Riiinger-ring! “Call for Landon! Call for Landon!” Landon slowed to a stop at the buzzing poke’gear on his backpack strap. May and Zeru did the same, turning back to him. “Who would be calling you right now?” May asked. Landon shrugged his shoulders as he pulled the vibrating machine from his backpack strap. “It’s probably mom and dad wishing us a happy new year. After all, it is the first new years we’ve spent away from them.” He figured. He selected the video phone icon, allowing the receiving screen to pop up. On it, he saw Professor Birch as well as some other man. He was kind of old with short graying hair and brown eyes. He was dressed in a white lab coat that went with his amber shirt and khaki pants. “Ah!” Landon’s voice caught in his throat. He seemed so taken aback that his body just froze up. May and Zeru just blinked in question at the screen. “Hey, May, Zeru, Lan,” Professor Birch smiled to the kids. “Hi, dad!” May smiled back. “Hullo, Professor,” Zeru simply waved. Landon’s lips remained mute. “And you must be Landon Himura.” The man beside Professor Birch stated, “I can tell by the hair and your eyes.” “Professor Birch, do you know who that is next to you?!” Landon finally blurted out. “Of course I know who he is. That’s Professor Oak.” Professor Birch told him as if it were the most common thing in the world. “Exactly!” Landon exclaimed, “I’ve read tons of books—especially the ones on poke’physiology!” “I’m glad to see I have a fan.” Professor Oak smiled. Landon was astonished; Professor Oak lived miles upon light-years away form the Hoenn region, yet he was sitting in Professor Birch’s lab. “Oak? Isn’t that the guy form the radio show?” Zeru asked. “Not just that—he’s the leading authority on Poke’mon! He came up with the idea for the Poke’dex in your pocket.” Landon informed him. Then, something in his mind struck him as weird. He turned from Zeru back to his poke’gear. “But what are you doing in the Hoenn Region, Professor Oak? Don’t you normally hang around in the Kanto or Johto region?” He asked. “Well, yes, but I’ve been doing some research on the Poke’mon in Hoenn. I’m trying to complete my next report and need to confirm my findings about Hoenn Poke’mon species.” Professor Oak explained, “Sadly, the car I was supposed to rent today got in a nasty accident. Not only that, but my flight to Fallabor Town was canceled, so I’m stuck in Littleroot.” “Gee, that’s too bad.” May told him, sympathizing with the professor. “Hey, I know its kinda’ weird of me to ask you this, but I need a favor from you three.” “From us?” Landon blinked at the Professor. What could he possibly want three kids to do that he couldn’t? “You see, I was supposed to meet one of my colleagues, Professor Cosmo, in Fallabor Town. But seeing as I’m stuck in Littleroot Town, I can’t get the data to him that he needs. Could I get you to go to Professor Cosmo and give him the data he needs for his research?” Professor oak asked them. Zeru scratched his head, “I have a question; just how exactly are we supposed to get this get this data if we’re so far away?” “Ah, that’s where the poke’gear comes in. Landon, I’m going to download two things into your poke’gear. The first is the Tomb Data that Cosmo wanted.” Professor Oak pulled a keyboard in front of him and began clicking away at the keys. The screen on the poke’gear turned into a spinning hourglass. “This’ll only take a second.” Professor Oak’s voice sounded from the audio. Toya finished her stick of cotton candy and started sucking on the stick. “Don’t do that, Toy; I’ll buy you another one.” Landon pulled the stick from her. “File’s done!” A mechanical voice sounded from the poke’gear. “Okay; now I have to send you something equally important. Professor Cosmo is more than likely studying around Silver Castle, and only those with a special pass can get through the security. So here comes the Oak code one.” Professor Oak’s clicking sounds could be heard again from the audio. This time, a blank bar pulled up onto the screen. A red light traveled across the inside to show its progress. When the bar reached a hundred percent, the visual phone flashed back to Professor Oak. “I can’t tell you kids how much I appreciate this.” “Oh, it’s no beef on us.” May told the professor. Landon grinned—running this little errand may be kind of fun. “Thanks—” “Landon!” From out of nowhere, Karou adjusted the video phone to herself. “Mom!” Landon blinked in a little shock. “Hi, sweetie; I hope you’re trainer hard. Your father and I have really missed you….” As Landon talked to his mom, Zeru folded his arms. Not that he didn’t want to help, but he wanted to enjoyed the New Year’s Festival. It has only a few more hours till the night fireworks and they would be out digging in the dirt. “Don’t worry, Zeru, this’ll be quick.” May winked at him.

With his food gone and Toya with more cotton candy, Landon took the lead down the yellow-brick streets. He was busy watching the new Tomb Data scroll across his poke’gear screen. The ancient hieroglyphs proved interesting to him—especially since he could read it as if it were in plain English or Japanese. May let Phealine sit on her head and claw at a ball of yarn. Zeru walked way in the back, holding Phanpy in his arms gently. Phanpy rubbed her trunk against her trainer’s arm very softly. “…this is amazing!” Landon stated to himself, but was overheard. May glanced over his shoulder at the poke’gear screen. “What’s amazing?” She asked. “This story.” Landon pointed to the Japanese-style castle in the distance, “It states that Silver Castle was once a place to meet with Legendary Poke’mon. There’s a power that lies in those walls that may still be alive today.” He told her as they came up closer to it. The yellow-brick trail drove through the middle of the circular tree wall guarding the front gate of Silver Castle. As they walked on, they didn’t notice the Crystal Bell trembling around Landon’s neck. THABUMPP!! “Huh!?” Landon came to an abrupt stop; he felt the Crystal Bell bump with a clear wave of transparent energy. He couldn’t explained it, but he could feel a sudden chill in the air; like he could sense an on-coming danger. “Be careful…” Landon stood with his mouth a gape. Did he just hear a voice call out to him from the air? “Landon, what’s wrong?” “Huh?” Landon snapped back to reality. May and Zeru had passed him up from his state of thought and turned to look back at his blunts stare. “You look kind of worried. Are you feeling alright?” Zeru asked. How could Landon break it to them? If he told them he was feeling chills on top of hearing voices, what would they think of him? Worse, they’d find out that he was an Origin Waker. “It…er, must’ve been something I ate. My stomach just felt a little jolt, that’s all.” Landon gave a fake smile, sweating anime style. “That was no stomach ache.” Landon’s expression turned serious; he clenched his fists, staring at the castle. “Someone was calling out to me—and warning me that something bad is about to happen.” He thought to himself. Judging by Toya’s expression, she could feel the cold wind too. As Landon’s most closest Poke’mon, she was more in tune with his senses than anyone else. As the kids stepped closer to the gate, they caught sight of a police guard pacing the path. The mustachioed man wore a white shirt, red tie, and blue pants and a hat. “Hey, you kids shouldn’t be around here. Why don’t you head back to the parade?” He stopped his pacing, facing them. “Actually, we have permission to be up here by Professor Oak himself. Landon held up his poke’gear. Without looking, he clicked the ‘items’ icon and let it flash with the code Professor Oak downloaded into it. “…I know that code—it’s the Oak Code One. I guess that means you’re lagit.” The security guard stepped aside, revealing the gate to them. May was the first to pass through, followed by Zeru and Landon.

They walked up the stone steps towards the grand Silver Castle. At the front of the castle’s main entrance, a man in a white lab coat stood with his hand on his chin. He had black hair and glasses over his blue eyes. Beside him was an open briefcase full of brushes, papers, and other archeological tools. He looked as if he was trying to decipher the ancient text on the door. Landon and his friends climbed the last bit of steps and gazed back at Fallabor Town. It looked even prettier from atop the hill. “MUdkiiip,” Toya marveled. “That really is beautiful.” May gazed. “Yeah, and I bet it’s even better at night with all the lanterns lit.” Landon stated. “Huh?” The man turned around, giving them a shocked look, “Hey, you kids; you can’t be up here.” “Oh, you must be Professor Cosmo, am I right?” Landon asked. The man adjusted his glasses and closed his eyes proudly, “So, you’ve heard of me, have you? That’s right, I’m the one and only Fossil Maniac extraordinaire—Professor Cosmo!” He exclaimed, “….at least, I would be hunting fossils if I weren’t puzzled by these ancient hieroglyphs.” “Speaking of hieroglyphs, you might want this.” Landon reached into his pocket and pulled out his poke’gear. He clicked the ‘items’ icon and pulled up the Tomb Data, in which the ancient text scrolled across the screen. “But that’s—” Professor Cosmo’s glasses slid down the bridge of his nose and he had to push them back up, “That’s the Tomb Data Professor Oak was supposed to deliver to me today.”  “Yeah, well, Professor Oak got into a bit of traveling trouble, so he sent us in his place.” Zeru told him. “This is terrific—now I can travel the right doors and corridors through Silver Castle. If you’ll allow me to download that for a second, you three could help me explore if you like.” Professor Cosmo took the poke’gear and headed towards his own briefcase. He pulled out a silver palm-pilot, connected it to the poke’gear by a cord, and started to click a few buttons. “It’s the least I can do for your help.” He told them. “However, I wouldn’t trust them at all.” “Hugh!” Landon frowned, clenching his teeth—he knew that voice all too well. How did he run into this guy, anyway? Toya stood up on her trainer’s head, growling. Landon turned first, followed by May and Zeru. The kid walking up to them was none other than Landon’s bitter rival, Syorin Hibiki.

Fast Fact Quiz: I am so happy that this is the last stupid quiz. To be honest, I hated doing these things. Instead of having quizzes, I think the next season will have music. Anyway, other than the end of “Poke’mon X”, what is so special about the ending of this episode? If you can’t guess, find out at the end of this Chapter!

THIS IS THE END OF PART 1.
