Disclaimer: Rain5101 doesn’t own Pokemon. SO THERE! :-p

Years had passed since she’d seen them. When they came to her town, they expected no change. That made them Naive. Some things do change over time, others have to stay the same. That’s just the way life goes.

::Expect the Unexpected::

Chapter One

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

When Ash, May, Brock, and Max finally made it into Cerulean City, they immediately contacted Ash’s mother, Delia, as they had promised. Much about this was still slightly confusing for Ash. He was about seventeen now, and was a man. Ash’s mother also saw it as the fact that Misty was nineteen and more so a woman.

“Alright Mom, we’re in Cerulean City. Happy? We called.” Ash was impatient. He wanted to see Misty. It had been five years, after all. May was now fifteen, and her brother was 11. Good old Brocko was twenty, and they’d all ‘grown’ in their own ways.

“Yes. Just remember. You’ve changed, and so has she.”

“What are you trying to do? Scare me out of going to see her?”

“No. I’m just giving you a warning. You always get worked up over a single change. She’s made many changes Ash. Remember that.”

“We’ve all gone through puberty,” Ash said, facing the picture phone. “I’ll call you later.”

        “Love you.”

“Love you too Mom.” After hanging up he added, “But you get on my nerves.”

The group hurried along to the Cerulean City Gym. May, who was not usually into gym battles, was looking forward to some friendly competition with the redhead. When they approached the doors, the flyer for a Cerulean Festival caught their eye. It looked like a festival was starting at the end of the week.

“Can we stay for the festival?” May asked, excitedly.

“Sure,” Ash said. “We’re taking a vacation.” Pikachu seemed ecstatic, crying out in glee.

        “GREAT!”May and Max yelled, excited.

Ash pulled open the doors to the gym, allowing his group to enter. The aqua colored walls seemed almost welcoming to the two travelers, the two who had been there before. Looking to the desk, they saw that it was abandoned. Meanwhile, coming down a staircase, was Daisy.

“OH. MY. GOD. What are you like, doing here?” Daisy hugged Ash and Brock with a vengeance as they introduced the two new members of their group.

“Where’s Misty and your sisters?” Ash asked boldly. Daisy looked at him.

“There’s about to be a battle. Like come on, I’m sure she’d appreciate some more support.” She started down the hallway surrounded by the group.

“Daisy, why aren’t we going to the pool? I thought that was where gym battles took place?” Brock looked more confused that usual.

        “This isn’t a gym battle.”

“What kind of battle is it then?” May asked.

“I can’t tell.” Suddenly, a trainer, older than Ash came running through the double doors that led to the largest arena.

“Forget this! Why did I even bother?”

“Okay, so now we like, don’t have a battle.” Daisy sighed. “She must’ve won too easily. Again.”

“I’ll take her on,” May said. “I might not be an absolute trainer, but I do enjoy Pokemon battles. Tell Misty that I’ll take her on.”

“Umm, that like, may not be such a good idea. You’ve never like, faced Misty before.”

“She’ll do fine.” Daisy looked at Ash, then May. Things were going to change if she went out there. She knew that.

“Alright, but remember: This isn’t Houen. This is Kanto. And we aren’t exactly all tradition.” All three would’ve commented, but were temporarily stunned by the absence of the word ‘like’ in the Sensational Sister’s sentence.

::::

When they reached the end of the hallway, they noticed that there were two more hallways.

“Ash, Brock, go straight. It’ll like, take you to the bleachers. May, you can like, come with me.” The group split up.

When Ash and Brock entered the arena, they noticed that everyone was on Misty’s side, apparently. There were quite a few guards around, causing both to feel a little uneasy.

Meanwhile, May questioned Daisy about seeing Misty before the match. The only response she received was; “We’ll have to see if she’ll even let you participate in this match.”

Daisy was a little nervous. Misty probably wouldn’t this, but for Ash’s sake, she hoped she’d take it easy on the girl.

“ARE YOU FLIPPING INSANE! DO YOU WANT ME TO KILL HER?” Misty looked at her sisters, who were all in agreement. “THE GIRL HAS NO BADGES TO HER NAME!”

“Then blow her out easy Misty. She wants to prove something to Ash. I saw it in her eyes,” Daisy said. Misty’s eyes began to spark with anger.

“I refuse to fight May unless Ash is also on her side.” All eyes turned to the girl. “We all have something to prove, and I’m going to be the first to start.”

“What do you mean Mist?” Lily asked.

“Two on one. I want a challenge.”

“But- oh never mind.” Misty didn’t stand there, she turned and walked in the other direction, a black cape rising behind her.

**********

“I AM NOT GOING TO DOUBLE TEAM MISTY! I REFUSE!” Ash yelled, sticking to his position. WE’LL HURT HER TOO BADLY. I HAVE A LOT MORE EXPERIENCE THAN SHE THINKS!” The Sensational Sisters sighed. Both were so darn stubborn.

        “Do it.”

All eyes and heads turned to see Lance, the Dragon Master standing there.

“Are you insane Lance? She’s not that good.” Ash commented.

“You’d be surprised. And besides, are you afraid to lose?”

“I don’t want to hurt her.”

“You won’t,” Lance assured. “Do you want to do this two on two? I’ll side with Misty, I don’t mind.”

        “Alright.”

“Ash, you’re gonna be like, the death of us,” Violet said, looking at the trainer with annoyance.

“Don’t worry,” Lance whispered into Violet’s ear, smiling a little, “She has to comply. We’re on the same side, and she’s wearing that shirt.” Violet laughed as Ash and May went one way and Lance went the other.

“THE BATTLE WILL COMMENCE IN FIVE MINUTES!”

Backstage, there was little tension on Misty and Lance’s side. Misty wasn’t surprised that good old Lance was the peace keeper, again. It was a good quality, and had she not been in love with Ash for so long, she would’ve stole him. However, he seemed to take a liking to his sister Violet. They’d make a good pair.

“You know Lance, I think we’re going to have to go out tonight,” Misty said. She was really calmer than he had expected.

“Tell you what, if we win, which would be a joke if we didn’t, you, me and your sisters will go out and get some drinks.”

Misty smiled, extending both arms over her head and down to her toes, then standing straight up. She smoothed out her outfit of black and the smallest amount of blue and then looked to Lance.

“Do you think we’ll scare him?”

        “Me? No. But you will.”

“Great.” From the way Violet looked over at the two trainers, she noted something.

“Don’t leave anything on the table today guys, let ‘em have it. And Misty?”

        “What?”

“You can be in love with the guy once this is all over.”

“You kidding? I’ll kick his ass for good measure to show him that I ain’t about to be taken lightly.”

“Go for it.” Misty’s occasional cussing showed her dedication.

“Alright. It’s game time.” The two trainers wearing capes approached the double doors leading to the arena.

“Ash will never expect this kind of battle.”

Alrighty, that’s the end of part one, and I’ll be back with part two soon, but until then, review at DoubleHelix882@aol.com
