The Dragon Master V: Chapter Four I immediately jumped into a set of back flips, trying to outrun the three-bladed disc. It was catching up with me, so I went faster. I came to a tree, and I pushed off of it with my feet. The disc sliced right through the tree, and swerved back around to me. I dodged it again, and caught Duplica in my line of sight. She was aiming directly at me. "WHAT THE HELL" I started, but Duplica let the arrow fly. Just as the arrow was coming down towards my forehead, the flying disc came down, blocking the arrow. The arrow shot through the device, causing it to explode. "DUCK," Duplica cried, drawing another arrow. I dropped to the ground, and Duplica let the arrow take off. It zoomed over my head, and towards the assailant. The attacker jumped away, but the arrow still sliced her across her side, causing her to bleed freely. She grasped her side, and looked at me. "This isn't over," she said, and she dashed off into the forest. "It'll never be over," I mumbled to myself. "What was that," Duplica asked, as she put away her bow. "Nothing," I lied. I walked over to the disc that the attacker had left there. I picked it up and examined it. "What are you looking for," Duplica asked. "This," I said, pointing to an emblem on the disc. "That's the logo of the Pokemon League. That assassin was hired by the League." Duplica looked offended. "They didn't call me first," Duplica asked in rage. "Maybe you were the target," I said. "Or maybe it was you," she said. "You did present yourself to John Flargini, did you not?" "Well, yeah," I admitted. "But you wouldn't have killed me anyway, right?" I looked at her, and she smirked. "Money's money," she shrugged. "I think that we had better make our way to Cherrygrove City," I said, breaking the awkward silence. "Suit yourself," Duplica said. We immediately began strategizing. "Where do you think Misty and Ash will be," I asked. "Most likely in a hotel for the night," Duplica said. "Ash is filthy rich, so we can expect him to stay at the fanciest hotel. That's most likely where he's going to get married, too. They are getting married in a week, you know." "WHAT," I exclaimed. "We have to stop the wedding." "What do you mean," Duplica asked. "You said that once this thing was all over, that everything would be back to normal." "Yeah," I said. "But she still might remember all this, and that means that she would remember her feelings for Ash, and how she hates me in this reality!" "Okay," Duplica said. She went back to strategizing, totally unaware of the predicament. "The fanciest hotel is the Champion Suites. It's just down the road from the Radio Tower." "It'll most likely be heavily guarded," I said. "With an Elite Four member and his fiancé there, security is going to be tight." "No shit," Duplica agreed. "Our best bet is going to be to sneak in." "Yeah," I said. "But how? If the security is heavy, they're even going to be on the roof." Duplica thought for a minute. Then she pulled something out of her pocket. "Take this," she said. It looked like an ordinary pen. "It injects a powerful sleeping aid into the person that the tip is on when you click it. It's what I use when my clients want the person alive." "Okay," I said, taking it. "How many times is it good for?" "Five," she said. "After that, we'll have to use the old fashioned way." "Right," I said. "And while I'm clearing the way, where will you be?" "Watching your back," she said. "I can alter the tip of my arrows to be coated with a substance that will knock people out. I'll be kinda like a sniper. Only with a bow." I nodded. "Anything else," I asked. "Yeah," she said. "Take this and put it behind your ear. I will be able to talk to you, and listen to you." She handed me a small metallic device, which I placed behind my ear. I then nodded. "Ready," I asked. She nodded. We walked into the city gates. I immediately spotted the Champion Suites. It was the tall building by the Radio Tower. Duplica and I ran down the street to it. I called my cloak and walked through the doors. Duplica transformed into a Pidgey, and flew up to the roof. I walked up to the front desk. "May I help you," the clerk asked. "Yes," I said. "I'm looking for the room Ash Ketchum and Misty Waterflower are staying in." "I'm sorry, sir," the clerk said. "That is a private room, and we cannot divulge that information." "It's important League business," I said. "I see," the clerk said. "I'll deliver the message." "Actually," I said. "The Pokemon League Champion himself told me to deliver it personally. The fate of Kanto and Johto rests in this message reaching Ash Ketchum." "Okay," the clerk said. "He's in room 1102. Take this key to the elevator." He handed me a keycard. I took nodded, muttered a thank you, and walked over to the elevator. I got in, put the keycard into the slot, and went up to the eleventh floor. "Bob," Duplica said through the earpiece. "Yeah," I asked. "The clerk called security right after you left," Duplica said. "Two guards are up on the eleventh floor. You have to get out of there now!" "Okay," I said. "Disable the camera," she said. I pulled the plug out of the camera, and decided what to do next. I was already on the eighth floor. I looked around the elevator for something to get away in. I noticed the trapdoor on the ceiling. I jumped up, and caught both legs against the sides of the elevator, holding me up. I quickly undid the lock holding it shut. I was on the tenth floor. I punched it open, and I was on the eleventh floor. I heard a ding, and quickly crawled through the trapdoor, and shut it, locking it. I could hear voices from down below. "Where is he," one voice asked. "He must've gotten off at another floor," the other one said. "Let's go check another floor," the first voice said. The elevator doors closed, and the elevator started to move downwards. I stepped on the ledge by the elevator, and used my katana to pry open the doors. I stepped through them, and they closed. There were only five rooms on this floor. There were two on each side, and then one at the end of the hallway. I assumed that these rooms were saved for the Elite Four and League Champions. I walked over to room 1102, Ash's room. Just as I was about to open the door, the doorknob jiggled. I quickly ducked behind a large plant. Ash came out of the door. "Be right back, Misty," Ash said. I grimaced. "Can't wait for you to come back," Misty said playfully. I shuddered at the thought of them together. I called my katana. Ash closed the door, and just stood there. He hung his head. He then started walking. I snuck up behind him, and held my katana to his throat. "Guess who," I asked. "What the hell," Ash asked. Then he recognized me. "You bastard. You're just mad because you screwed up with Misty and now she's mine." I slammed him against a wall, and held him up by his neck at the flat of my katana. "No," I said. "The reason that I'm mad is because you guys went and fucked up reality on me. So, I'm going to kill you, letting me get one step closer to getting Misty back." "You're insane," Ash said. "What would killing me really do? Gain Misty's respect? Her trust, perhaps?" "I have to kill the Elite Four and the League Champion," I said. "And guess what? You're one of them." "Who told you that," Ash asked, sincerely perplexed. "John Flargini," I said. "He's next on my list." "He's just sending you on a wild goose chase," Ash said. "He told you that because you didn't know he was one of us. Right now, he's most likely on his way to a tropical island somewhere." "You're lying," I gritted. "You're just trying to save you're ass." "Bob," Duplica said through the intercom. "What room is Misty in?" "1102," I said. "Get in there quickly." "I'll go through the window," Duplica said. "Who's that," Ash asked. "None of your business," I said, holding him up higher on the wall. He surveyed the situation. He then forced against the wall, pushing me away. I flew against the opposite wall, and he took off towards the balcony opposite of the League Champion's room. He leapt off the balcony, and down towards the street full of moving cars and people. "You crazy son of a bitch," I muttered to myself. I ran towards the balcony, threw off my cloak, called my wings, and jumped off. I spotted Ash immediately. He was zooming around on a black air board that he made out of shadows. It had rocket propulsion on the back of it. I forced my wings to go farther. "YOU'LL NEVER CATCH ME," Ash screamed over all the noise. "RAIN DANCE," I cried. Rain poured down from the sky, bringing down a torrential rain because of my rage. "THUNDER!" Bolts of lightening came down from the sky, all aimed at Ash, but he easily maneuvered out of the way. I had to use something more powerful. "WHAT DID I TELL YOU," Ash yelled. "To take care of Misty," I said to myself, remembering the motivation behind this. "ELEMENTAL STORM!" Thunder, Ice, and Fire all came down from the sky, and followed directly behind Ash. It was gaining on him, and he was looking worried. "YOU'LL NEVER WIN," Ash said. "NEITHER WILL YOU," I shouted. "IF I'M GOING DOWN, YOU AND THIS ENTIRE WORLD IS COMING WITH ME!" Ash did a simple aerial trick, and dodged the attack. Before the attack injured any civilians, I snapped my fingers, making it disappear. "DARK NIGHT," Ash roared. Immediately, it stopped raining, and the clouds moved across the moon, plunging Cherrygrove City into complete and utter darkness. Despite the darkness, I followed Ash as best as I could. I needed to do something. "BRIGHT NIGHT," I cried. The clouds vanished, and the moon shone as brightly as ever. Ash knew that he wouldn't escape this situation in a good position, so he threw something that exploded, surrounding him in black smoke. I went right through it, and didn't hit him. The smoke dissipated, and Ash was nowhere to be seen. A Noctowl flew across the street and landed on the ledge next to me. It's form blurred, and then became Duplica. "Did he get away," Duplica asked. "Is his bloody body down there," I asked. "I'll take that as a 'yes,'" Duplica said. "Did you get any information from Misty," I asked. "Not except the League is planning something big," Duplica said. "And with this hand we've got, something big puts us out of the game." "So we can't let that happen," I said. "Yeah," Duplica replied. "Where do we go from here," I asked. "I have a contact up in Olivine City," Duplica said. "She'll help us." I nodded. "Let's walk there, so we won't cause any more suspicion than we already have," I said. She nodded. We were on the outskirts of Cherrygrove City, anyway, so we flew the rest of the way, and then landed on the ground. We started walking down Route 30, and we started talking about the differences between our two worlds. "Is there anything about Violet City that I should know," I asked. "Depends on what it's like in your reality," she responded cleverly. "Well," I said. "It's like this: Falkner runs the Gym, the Sprout Tower is the main attraction, and the ruins of the Unown are just past Route 36." "That's pretty much the way that it is here," Duplica said. "But I don't know. It's been four years since I've been there. It could have changed." "Yeah," I said. Something darted out of the bushes behind us and into the other side of the route. I whipped around, wondering what it was. "What's wrong," Duplica asked. "Something's not right," I said. "Duh," Duplica said. "When something's wrong, it's usually not right." "This is different," I said. "It's both wrong and right," Duplica asked. "Shut up," I ordered. I walked closer to the bushes. Suddenly, something sprang out of the bushes and past me. Then, hundreds of things leaped out of the bushes. When they all settled, I could see that they were all ninjas wearing red suits. They all parted, and let a red-cloaked figure walk past. I knew who it was right away. "Do you know her," Duplica asked. "Mya Waterflower," I said. "Misty's mother." - End of Chapter Four -
