Chapter 3 Prof. Oak gets a visitor. “Oh my God!” Jessie was freaking out. As was James. “You mean the twerp we thought we killed by accident is still alive, and he’s tried to kill you and that other twerp he doesn’t like?” Meowth was hysterical. A chancey had to come over and double slap him a few times. He calmed down a bit. He said, “But he wasn’t trying to kill that Gary twerp, just hurt him. He said he’d come back an’ finish da job later.” “Well he sure did do a great job!” Jessie exclaimed. Meanwhile, James was having a rare moment of intelligence. “Um Jess?” he said. “What?” she replied. “Well, the Ketchum twerp was rivals with that Gary kid, right?” he asked. “Yes James, I believe we already established that. What is your point?” “Well if he put his rival in the hospital, what will he do to us, his sworn enemies, who are mostly responsible for his loss of limb?” He concluded. Jessie went pale once what James had said sunk in. “ Oh man he’s gonna kill us!” She screamed. Suddenly a voice behind them said, “Why what a good idea! I couldn’t make up my mind about what to do to you. Let’s get started!” Team Rocket turned around to see none other than Ash leaning against the wall behind them, wearing a manic grin, his eyes a bloody red. Team Rocket screamed and ran off, leaving only a dust cloud in their wake. “I’ll just have to deal with them later.” Ash said. “Right now I have a hometown to get to!” ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Prof. Oak was on the phone with the hospital Gary was at. (Vermillion General, by the way.) He was speaking to Officer Jenny. She was giving him the details of Gary’s condition. “It seems that your grandson sustained multiple lacerations of the flesh, Professor. He also received second degree burns along his torso. He has several concussions and slight brain damage. He had massive internal bleeding, and finally, it seemed that something punctured his left lung. Forensic analysis seems to point to a charizard fang. Your grandson will live, sir, but he’ll be in the hospital for a few weeks. We would like to tell you that we think that whoever did this to Gary may well come after you as well. So please be careful. Good bye.” “My goodness!” said the professor after he hung up the phone. “Why would the police think that the lunatic who hurt Gary would come after me?” “Oh, it might have something to do with the fact that the ‘lunatic’ is right behind you.” A cold, dead voice said from behind Prof. Oak. He turned around, like Team Rocket had done, to see none other than Ash standing behind him, no longer wearing the disguise of Rick, though still missing an arm. “ASH? What in heaven’s name are you-” “Heaven’s name. My God, what’s with you people? My body goes missing, and everyone thinks I’m dead. What’s up with that? If any of you had gone missing, I’d have gone looking for you. But noooo, everyone just thinks I’m dead! By the way professor, you might want to call the fire department. That fire outside doesn’t look that good. Well, I have to go. I’ll come back to town for my hat, but first, I have to get some stuff from Pewter City. Don’t bother trying to warn Brock, I cut off all communications in Pallet. Have a nice day!” Oak could plainly see that Ash had lost his mind. However, he was too frightened of Ash’s eyes to care. They were a deep and bloody red. Prof. Oak suddenly realized what Ash said about a fire. He looked out and saw his whole garden up in smoke! He quickly called the fire department. Ash was long gone. He had to get a message to Brock, Misty, and Delia Ketchum before it was too late……
