Chapter 5 Transformation Brock was unsure of what to do. How could he battle his best friend? Granted, Ash had gone insane, but still… Fortunately, Ash helped Brock decide. “Oh, by the way Brock, I took the liberty of welding your family into your house. I also surrounded your house with gasoline. If somebody drops a cigarette near there, they’re toast.” Brock didn’t need any help deciding his next move. “You bastard!” He said. “Now, now Brock, this isn’t the time for insults. Charizard, Pikachu, come!” They both appeared at Ash’s sides, their eyes a demented red glow. They both growled at Brock. Ash was stroking the gem he had. “Hmmmm,” he said, “I think my friends are hungry. Well I’ll just give them a little pick me up!” Suddenly, the gem on his necklace shined like the sun. A red sun. Then, two thin beams of light snaked out of the gem. They slowly wormed their way towards Pikachu and Charizard. The beams connected with the two pokemon. There was a bright flash. Brock could barely believe his eyes. Pikachu and Charizard were… mutating. Pikachu stood upright, an expression of excruciating pain on it’s face. Pikachu seemed to grow longer, it’s spine getting longer and longer. His arms and legs grew longer as well, and his fingers became long, deadly claws. His teeth became razor sharp, as well as about two inches longer. Charizard’s transformation was a bit different. He hunched over in pain, and two bulges could be seen emerging below his wings. The bulges suddenly erupted into a second pair of wings. Charizard’s arms grew longer and more muscular. His entire skin tone became blacker. When they both finished, what stood before Ash were no longer feral versions of the pokemon he had caught and befriended, but rabid killing machines. “Well then,” said Ash. “I think that’s enough of that. Shall we begin?” Brock knew he was in way over his head. But at this point, he didn’t have much of a choice. Luckily, he had been training hard these last few months. He might stand a chance. “I choose you, Graveler!” He shouted as he threw a poke ball. The rock hard… well, rock, appeared in a white light, exclaiming “Graveler!” Ash pulled an unexpected move. “Pikachu, take him down!” “Pika pika!” (Time to die, rock head!”) Pikachu said in a deeper, throatier voice than usual. Brock issued a command, “Graveler, use Earthquake!” Graveler slammed the ground hard, causing the entire gym to shake at it’s foundation. Pikachu disappeared in a yellow blur, much to the confusion of Brock. “Hey, where’d he go?” Brock demanded. “You’re slippin’ Brocko, look up.” Brock did so, and saw Pikachu hanging from the ceiling. Brock was stunned until he heard the words: “Pikachu, Iron Claw Attack!” Pikachu rocketed from the ceiling, his front paws glowing, and struck Graveler with a full blown Iron Claw. “But Pikachu can’t learn that!” Brock protested. “I beg to differ. Now Pikachu, Iron Fury Swipes!” Brock had never even heard of this move, and Brock guessed that it was a product of Ash’s now warped mind. As the name implied, it combined Iron Claw and Fury Swipes. Pikachu savagely clawed at Graveler. That was all it took for Graveler to go down. “Graveler, return!” Brock commanded. “All right then, Onix, go!” he shouted. Onix came out of it’s poke ball with it’s usual roar. Ash decided to switch. “Charizard, beat that rock snake into pebbles!” He yelled. Charizard leaped at Onix, and gave it a hard punch. Onix fell to the ground, stunned. But Charizard wasn’t done. He grabbed it by the tail, and started swinging it around and around. Charizard threw Onix with all his might into the wall, completely destroying it, then some trees, then a couple of buildings. “Onix!” Brock shouted in dismay. “Well this has been fun. I have to go see a girl about a backpack I left her. Oh, and by the way Brock, I was rummaging through your room while you were out for a walk, and took back my jacket. It will go nicely with my old pokedex, which I stole from Gary. I should be able to reach Cerulean City in a matter of minutes with Charizard as strong as he is. Later.” Ash paused. “Oh, bye the way, I surrounded the gym with gasoline as well.” He lit a match. “I would hurry if I were you. This fire’s going to spread fast. Hehehe.” He dropped the match. The gasoline ignited and spread around the gym, but Brock barely noticed. He was racing towards his house. Thank God it was raining nearby. Brock had just one chance and had to make it count. “He grabbed a poke ball. “Crobat, go.” He shouted. “Quick, blow the rain clouds toward the house with Whirlwind Attack! GO!” Crobat hurried on towards the storm, but Brock didn’t think it would be enough. Brock raced on, the fire licking at his heels. He ran up the steps of his house, just as the fire started to circle his home. He beat on the door, but it wouldn’t budge. Brock threw himself against the door. He didn’t have Graveler or Onix to break down the door, which was probably Ash’s whole plan. A plan, how unlike Ash…. Brock’s tackling of the door, eventually broke down the door. The agonizing pain in his shoulder told Brock that he probably broke it. But he didn’t care, all he could think about was his family. The house was on fire by this time. Brock managed to get everybody out, with only a few burns a shattered shoulder to show for it. Crobat finally blew the rain clouds over the house. The fire died down. Ash was watching the entire time, his face expressionless. Ash called for Charizard, got on his back with Pikachu, and took off. Brock didn’t have time to warn Misty. And Brock didn’t think Ash was going to take the time to talk to her……
