Chapter 2 The next week and a half was not spent idly. The elekid was a strong pokemon, and was walking normally by the end of the first day. Juno still did usual of reading the elekid stories. Elekid especially liked the one about Spark: The Amazing Electabuzz Trainer. It wasn’t unusual seeing that Elekid was only the pre-evolved form of what Spark specialized in. Also, everyday Juno and Elekid took jogs together. Juno would jog with Elekid for only a short time, because Elekid was still a baby, and his endurance wasn’t at top notch yet. After a few minutes, Elekid would jump onto Juno’s back and enjoy the ride. But, at the end of the week and a half, the elekid was jogging the whole thing! Also, the elekid was a strong eater, and after a few days, started to eat solid food. One day Juno received a call from redwood to go to the lab, and to bring the egg. Juno chuckled at this; the prof didn’t yet know that his egg has hatched. “Well Elekid, let’s go to the lab!” exclaimed Juno. “Ele!” replied Elekid happily. Upon arriving at the lab, He saw that 5 out of the 9 other trainers have already arrived. Of them, only one had his egg hatch. That person walked over to Juno and greeted him. “So I see that I wasn’t the only one whose egg hatched.” Joked the boy. “Ya” replied Juno. The boy’s magby looked at Elekid quizzically. “It’s ok Magby, it’s only another pokemon.” Said the boy to his pokemon. “Wow! An Elekid.” “A Magby is awesome as well,” said Juno. The boy and Juno became friends, and talked for a while. Juno learned that the boy’s name was Bryan. Their talk was interrupted by the arrival of the rest of the new trainers, and the Redwood. “Come on in all of you!” Said the prof. “As you know, it’s been two weeks since you first got your eggs, some of you (he winked at Bryan and I) have had their eggs hatch already!” Juno’s heart bursted with pride. And he tried to sit up a little taller. Bryan laughed a little, while Juno blushed. “For the rest of you.” The prof continued, “Get cracking because you only have half a month to go! Anyway, the reason I brought you all here is to outline of what you are going to get on the day of your departure. You will get 5 pokeballs, 3 potions, and I will let your pokemon hold a berry. You will also get a pokedex of your choice to display your information, and what you have caught. I highly recommend that you go out and get pokegear as it will come in very useful. Those who fail to have their egg hatch will be forced to wait another year for another turn. Now for those who need any further help my phone number is (555) 555-5…” His voice was drowned out by excited murmurings from all the trainers. Just as Bryan and Juno were about to leave, Redwood tapped their shoulders and summoned them to follow him. He led them to his lab research room and said, “You boys are the only ones who have had your eggs hatched. Because of this I will give you special prizes.” He then whipped out two technical machines, and said, “These are technical machines, or TM’s. Use these to teach your pokemon moves that it couldn’t learn by it’s own, or to teach it moves at an early age. For you, Bryan, I present to you the Tm for thunder punch. For you Juno, I present to you the TM for ice punch. I give these to help against your pokemon’s weaknesses.” Happily Bryan and Juno let their pokemon have the TM’s. Then Redwood presented both Bryan and Juno 5 pokeballs, and a pokedex. “The reason I give you these is because you have no reason for staying at home for two weeks. Since your pokemon have hatched, you now are official pokemon trainers.” Bryan and Juno couldn’t think of any words to express their happiness as they walked out of the lab. All they said to each other before rushing home was: “See you at the pokemon league!” When Juno got home, his mom came out of the kitchen and said, “No need to explain dear. Professor Redwood just told me the news. I have all of your stuff ready all you need to do is pack it. I also got something for you.” She handed him pokegear watch. “It has a map, a radio, and a cell phone, plus, it’s a watch.” She started to well up with tears. “Don’t you look back when you’re on the road, and be kind to your pokemon.” “Will do mom, will do”
