Chapter 08: Impossible "And then he went kaboom!!" yelled Apryl, unaware of the weird look Bobby was giving her. "Okay, it was a good movie... Give it a rest, Pryl..." he said quietly, feeling tired and overwhelmed by Apryl's enthusiasm at almost midnight. He began wishing he had never bought those Cokes and that he hadn't let her buy all that candy. That dumb blonde was going to keep him up all night!!! The two finally reached Jenn's house (in Bobby's case, the walk couldn't have been longer) and Apryl suddenly stopped. "Hey Bobby... Why is Jenn's front door open?" they exchanged a quick glance. "You don't think..." Bobby started and the duo began to panic. "JENN!!" they yelled in unison and they ran into the house. Jenn's coffee table was knocked over, the glass cracked and the vase of flowers knocked over. Apryl crept into the kitchen and a trail of blood was leading into Jenn's room. "Bobby!! Come quick!!" she screamed. Bobby ran into the kitchen and turned pale at the sight of the blood. "It's not possible..." he began. At first, Apryl didn't know what he meant. But then she realized it. 'It's not possible that she was the next victim. We just saw her a few hours ago.' Together, the duo tiptoed into the obsessively cleaned bedroom that they had been in so many times. It wasn't obsessively cleaned right now. All of Jenn's clothing had been slit through the middle and thrown on the floor. Her phone was off the hook, tossed carelessly in the middle of all her clothes. And in the middle of that big mess, was Jenn. Without even a glance, Bobby knew she was dead. Apryl screamed. This wasn't possible. There was no way that this was real. And she hated to admit that it was. "Well, you were taken off the suspect list," Apryl said cheerfully, trying to lighten the mood. Bobby looked at her blankly, trying to see how she could even TRY to be cheerful. Jenn was dead, after all. It's not like she was at the mall. She wouldn't BE back (and especially not with new clothes). "Would you at least try to be cheerful, Bobby? I am!!" Apryl yelled. Bobby blinked, for he had never heard her raise her voice. She was defintely not a loud person, unlike Jenn had been. "How could YOU be cheerful? How could you expect me to be cheerful?" he cried. "Jenn wouldn't have wanted us to be cheerful, Apryl! She would be so hurt that we were trying to forget!" "No, she wouldn't have!" Arpyl screamed. The look of astonishment on Bobby's face didn't slow her down one bit. "She would've wanted us to forget seeing her like that! She wouldn't be hurt! She would want us to stop feeling sorry for ourselves and stop pouting and being miserable! You, Bobby, are doing everything she would've hated!" Bobby recoiled. It was the only way to describe what he was doing. It was as if Apryl had slapped him across the face. "Listen, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said that last part." Bobby glared at her. "You better leave, Apryl. I'd rather not speak to you at the moment." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ It was the best of times. It was the worst of times. To say that considering the circumstances Apryl Robbins was under, you'd be totally lying. It was the worst of times. No one could deny it those next few days. She tried to convince herself that things would always get better, but that just ended up making her more upset. When things got better... IF things got better, and they actually couldn't with one of her best friends dead and the other one mad as hell towards her. It was the best of times. It was the worst of times. To say that considering the circumstances Apryl was under, you wouldn't be lying. She was in the worst of times and considering suicide when the phone rang. "Apryl!" screamed Bobby. "You won't believe what has happened!" "I thought you weren't talking to me," retorted Apryl icily, even though she truly was happy that at least one bad thing in her life had been solved. "Never mind that! They've arrested someone for the murders! come to the police station now!!"
