This story is created by Luke Chamberlen and Andrew White based on the world of Pokémon, the characters Luke and Andrew are self created (obviously) but all other characters are owned by Nintendo(r). The storyline is however a Luke and Andrew original. Enjoy.

Luke -age 16- Description: Blond Spiky hair, Baggy Jeans with worn holes at the knees and his Pokéballs hanging from a customized chain and a worn suede jacket with burns scattered across it.
Andrew - age 17- Description: Blond/Brown Afterburner hair (hair with spikes protruding from the back) Cut off jeans and a Black T-shirt ripped at the sleeves with the number 12 in bold white letters on the chest. He often wore a green jacket with this, which was made out of a soft and smooth material. He also wore fingerless gloves with his Pokéballs on an Armlet

This story is set in the Johto region but after the Advanced Battle Saga.

One day Luke and Andrew were having a practice battle in the forest. Luke had his Heracross out. Heracross' horn, which was already broken at the tip and thus had become very sharp, was grazed from the long and intense battle against Andrew's Electabuzz, which was heavily damaged from a mega horn attack, which had struck the centre of the unusual circle design, which the stripes formed on his chest.

"Come on Electabuzz you can get up"
"Lucky rise above him"

As Lucky rose to the sky Electabuzz groggily rose to his feet

"Lucky finish it with aerial ace!"

The force of the attack sent Electabuzz flying through the air straight into Andrew knocking him to the floor. He opened his eyes to see Luke standing above him offering his hand to help him up.

"Good match"
"Yeah I still lost though," Andrew said treating his Electabuzz.
"That makes it 6 to 4 you know" Stated Luke with a grin on his face.
"I hadn't forgotten," said Andrew staring at the floor.
Luke patted him on the shoulder "don't forget there is not a lot that can beat my Heracross, remember he was my first Pokémon" said Luke smugly "but then again it will help Electabuzz become stronger"
"True true" Andrew said nodding but he was clearly still disappointed with his loss

As the two old friends sat treating their Pokémon and chatting they heard a large cracking noise they jumped to their feet

"What the monkey" "What are you talking about Andrew?" "Didn't you hear that sound?" "Yeah but I meant your stupid use of... oh never mind lets go and find out what that was"

They ran as fast as they could through the undergrowth towards the source of the noise when they finally arrived they saw three people; A red haired girl standing breathing heavily holding a huge mallet, a black haired boy with a red cap and blue jacket laying sprawled on the floor with a huge lump on his head and in between them a spiky haired man trying to stop the girl from beating the boy senseless.

"Is there a problem here?" inquired Andrew

Before he could even look for an answer the girl had clubbed Andrew and sent him soaring down the path straight into a tree as he lay there dazed *eyes spinning anime style and mallets floating round his head* Luke turned to Andrew then back to the girl who was now being held back by the spiky haired man.

"What did you do that for!?" Exclaimed Luke jaw wide open "She's always like this" said a voice from the floor "WHY YOU!" She yelled at the boy on the floor

And amazingly she broke free of the spiky haired man's grasp and smacked the boy on the head... again. After managing to rise to his feet Andrew still in a daze staggered back up the path.

"I'm alrigh' jus' a widdle biddy bit dizzy"

And with that fell on his face next to the boy in the cap.

When Andrew and the boy awoke several hours had passed they slowly sat up and looked around them it was very dark the only light was a small camp fire in the middle of the forest clearing the trees surrounding them seemed to dance in the flickering light. Andrew glanced over to see Luke sitting by the fire talking to the girl and the spiky haired man he looked beside him the boy in the cap seemed equally confused but glanced at Andrew and laughed.

"That mallet hurts don't it"
"You're telling me," said Andrew rubbing the bump on his forehead
The boy laughed again "Hi I'm Ash Ketchum"
"Nice to meet you I'm Andrew"
"No last name?" Inquired Ash
"No the writers were to lazy to give me one" Said Andrew with a glum expression
"Tell me about I don't have a middle name"

At this the two started laughing again this caught the others attention.

"Andrew! Get your lazy butt out of bed and meet Misty and Brock!" shouted Luke
"Alright I'm coming," he bellowed back laughing slightly

Andrew stomped over with Ash walking behind him.

"Hope you found it funny while me and Ash were being TENDERISED!!!" Andrew exclaimed indignantly.
"Yes we did actually" said Misty laughing

At this Ash's face boiled but Andrew thought it would be a good time for a comeback

"So Luke, which one is Misty and which is Brock..."
"Don't" Said Misty

Noticing the mallet slowly being removed from the bag Andrew shut up sharpish pulling his collar and gulping.

"Calm down you guys" said Luke and Brock in unison
"I've just been explaining what we were doing in the woods and by the way Ash," said Luke
"Yes?"
"Its not kind to scare people with bug Pokémon"
"Thank You" Said Misty

At this Ash's face lowered he obviously didn't like the idea of a stranger telling him what to do but before he could respond Andrew's let out a wail

"SO WHAT DID I DO!?" he yelped as his eyes streamed
"You got in the way" said Misty shrugging her shoulders

At this Andrew's jaw hit the floor but he remained silent as Misty's hand was dangerously close to the rucksack with the mallet in.

Noticing this Luke swiftly changed the subject

"So what are you doing around here?" Luke asked Ash, Brock and Misty
"We are on a quest..."
"To get laid!" interrupted Andrew
"Umm... not at the minute actually I'm hoping to become a Master Pokémon Breeder" said Brock
"Meh same thing" Said Andrew

Everyone stared at Andrew with raised eyebrows until he said laughing

"Only joking!"

To this Luke started laughing heartily, which soon caught on, and they sat and laughed late into the night. When Luke awoke in the morning he opened his eyes to see a beautiful sun rising above the trees the dew glistened on the grass and the sounds of Pidgeys calling softly in the morning filled the air he looked around at the others Brock lay mumbling something 'Nurse Joy and Officer Jenny' and something about a large bed. Ash and Misty lay there peacefully and quite close to each other Luke's face broke into a small grin as he thought

"There's something going on there"

Suddenly he noticed that Andrew's sleeping bag laid empty by the fire he got up and began to look for him after about 5 minutes Andrew appeared through trees by this time Ash, Misty and Brock had arose from their slumber.

"Where have you been?" inquired Luke
"To.......... get some water for everyone" Andrew said showing the now full flasks
"Alright...." replied Luke suspiciously but he decided not to pry further
While the others where still drowsy Luke whispered aside to Andrew "So what do you really think about these guys?"
"Well they seem like nice enough folks" but then feeling the bump on his forehead he said, "we may need to do something about that mallet though"
"Tell me about it"

At this Andrew and Luke jumped out of their skin and spun around to see Ash standing behind them.

"How long have you been there!?"
"Since you said about the mallet" replied Ash

And so they talked then Misty joined in the conversation and they sat and talked until Brock had finished cooking the breakfast they sat and ate until they came to the subject of where they were going

"So where are we now?"
"Route 39 I believe" Brock Said looking at his trusty map
"Cool so we follow this route and then take route 38 to Ecruteak city" Said Luke to Andrew
"Groovy" Exclaimed Andrew
"Ecruteak City that's where we are heading too!" said Ash
"Travel with us" said Misty "my mallet needs a new head to bash"

Ash and Andrew exchanged worried glances.

"Sounds good" Luke said
"Lets move out" Said Brock
So they packed up the temporary camp and headed out on their way.

"So why are you heading that way?" asked Andrew
"We are heading there to pick up Pikachu from the Pokémon Centre" replied Ash
"Why is Pikachu in the Pokémon Centre anyway is it serious?" Asked Luke with a slightly concerned tone in his voice.
"No he has just had a nasty bump but you don't need to know about that, do they Misty? Replied Ash giving me Misty an annoyed stare
"Well how was I supposed to know he was hiding under your hat?!"
"You shouldn't have been trying to hit me over the head with a mallet in the first place!" Ash fired back
"Yea!" Shouted Andrew backing up Ash, rubbing the still sore bump on his head.
Misty brought out her mallet swinging it into Andrews head knocking Andrew into Ash who crashed into Brock sending them all into a tree trunk, they all slid down the tree into a crumpled pile on the floor, they were all dizzy babbling. Luke started laughing uncontrollably at the sight in front of him but as the three sore trainers regained consciousness they quickly jumped to their feet all gritting their teeth at him, Luke soon shut up and tried to change the subject. After walking along route 39 the group had been talking about embarrassing storeys that had gone on in their journeys but Andrew then brought up a question that could only lead to trouble

"So Ash are you and Misty an item?"

At this both Ash and Misty turned bright red and began to stammer their words. Knowing he had made a mistake Andrew felt his face flare up too he was hoping for anything that could break this moment, To Andrews great relief the silence broke when a roar was heard far behind them.

"What was that?" The group said in unison.

As they stood there wondering what had made such a loud roar the ground started to shake and a dust cloud was forming on the horizon of where they had been only minutes before, suddenly a Rydon's head popped out of the dust cloud followed by 15 other Rydon. Andrew started chuckling to himself

"Oh I remember now, this route is often used by Rydon who charge at reckless speeds to get to the forest at the bottom first"

Everyone turned to Andrew with angry glares in their eyes.

"Why didn't you say that earlier!?" Misty shouted at Andrew

"Oh I don't know I was kind of being TENDERISED and forgot!" Andrew shot back at Misty.

Sparks were now flying between Andrews and Misty's eyes as the two grit their teeth at each over. Luke Butted into the twos stare down.

"Uh guys in case you haven't noticed there's a load of Rydon coming straight at us at great speed"

"Do you have any suggestions Luke?" Brock asked with a sarcastic tone.

"I have one!" Andrew blurted out breaking his stare with Misty.

"Oh?" chimed Brock intrigued to know his plan.

"Run!" Andrew yelled

With that the group started to run for their lives as the Rydons Chased down the path after them with Ash and Luke leading the run. It seemed as if Ash was competing with Luke to be in the lead but out of Nowhere Andrew came blazing past them, Luke had forgotten how fast Andrew could run. Luke was noticing that the army of charging Rydons were quickly gaining on them and Misty would be the first to get trampled, Luke decided to take action.

"Ash, Andrew lets give these Rydons something to run from"

Ash and Andrew nodded and stopped and turned to face the Rydon with Luke, Brock seeing that they were handling the situation called out his Onix and pulled Misty onto Onix they kept on dashing down the path on Onix's back.

"Ash there's no way there going to stop for us; we could fight them from the air" Luke then turned to Andrew with a concerned look on his face

"Andrew you don't have a flying pokémon do you?"

Andrew winked and called out his Hitmonlee, it had a scar across its eye from an old gym battle, he jumped onto its back and Hitmonlee jumped into the trees onto a branch. Luke called out his Heracross and jumped onto its back as its wings opened it lifted off the ground, The trainer looked as if he was riding Heracross like a board but Heracross was used to this method of battling. Last was Ash who called out his Charizard. He grabbed onto his neck and climbed onto his back as they swooped into the air. The battle was now set it was Andy, Ash and Luke versus the army of Rydons.

Luke looked down onto the vast sea of horns and began to think of a plan to stop them without endangering anyone. However before he could think properly the Rydons stopped and reared their heads while Luke and Ash began to worry Andrew took this as a chance to attack and went flying in with Hitmonlee using a flying jump kick.

"NO! STOP!" yelled Luke

But it was too late to kick had connected it seemed as if all time stood still for that brief second the kick had been a direct hit but it had no effect what so ever the rydon didn't even flinch Andrew and Hitmonlee stood there in disbelief as the Rydon turned and looked at him its huge drill horn glinting in the sunlight.

"RUN!" Bellowed Ash

As Hitmonlee turned to run the Rydon bent into the charge position and started to hurtle towards the fleeing attackers. Seeing this Luke began to shoot towards Andrew and Hitmonlee as fast as he could but alas it was not fast enough Ash and Luke could only watch helplessly as the Rydons horn connected with its target sending Andrew and Hitmonlee sprawling across the floor the Rydon turned to return to the herd while Luke landed and jumped off her across next to Andrew

"Oh come wake up please, please you have to get up"

Luke felt an uncontrollable anger welling up inside him as he rose to his feet

"Ash take Andrew to Misty and Brock"

Ash opened his mouth to argue but noticed the fire burning within Luke's eyes and swooped down and picked up Andrew and flew off down the road.

"Its time to go!" Luke yelled at the Rydons

At this they all turned around and bent down ready to charge but before they could move Luke turned to Heracross and said with a burning desire

"Now is the time to unleash your true power. CROSSFIRE ATTACK!!!"

As the Rydon began to charge Heracross's entire body began to glow with a brilliant white light it began to glow brighter and brighter until it caused the Rydon to halt their charge and shield their eyes but then Luke yelled

"FIRE!"

With that the entire of the collected energy within Heracross's body was released in a huge bolt straight at the Rydon the explosion caused Ash Misty and Brock all to turn and see what was going on but all they could see was a brilliant white dome where the Rydon had been when the dome and the smoke and dust had cleared all of the Rydon lay there completely out. For a few moments Luke and Heracross stood motionless staring at the place where the Rydon had been standing proud just a minute ago. This was a true demonstration of why Luke never let Heracross release his true power in battles as it was too dangerous. Finally regaining his focus Luke bent down and picked up a Pokéball that Andrew had dropped when he had fell with a small flick of his wrist Luke threw the Pokéball at one of the Rydon and captured it with great ease

"This should be a welcome surprise for Andrew when he awakes"

With that Luke jumped back onto Heracross and began to head back towards the others. As he majestically flew along the route on Heracross he noticed a sign 'Ecruteak City just ahead'

"They must have taken him to the hospital" He thought as he crouched down, picking up speed he blasted down the rest of the route kicking up huge clouds of dust as he did until he got to the entrance to Ecruteak City, he jumped off Heracross and called it back. As he walked to the Hospital thoughts of how Andy was, were flooding his mind, this guy had been his best friend since the age of 3 and the thought of him being gone made a horrible feeling arise in Luke's stomach , he decided not to waste time and ran the rest of the way to the hospital.

He got to the hospital; Ash, Misty and Brock were waiting next to a door on a bench.

"Oh you're ok!" Misty said as her eyes widened to see Luke was ok, Ash was slumped down on the bench with his arms folded, as if he was annoyed at the warm greeting Luke had gotten from Misty.

"Where's Andrew?" Luke Asked almost completely ignoring Misty and the others looking round for a sign of Andrew.

Misty pointed to the room they were sitting outside.

"He's in there, only one person is allowed to see him so we thought we would wait for you"
"Thank you that means a lot to me" he said softly, giving Misty a warm smile

Misty returned it then went to sit down, Ash was still in the slumped position and Brock was staring at a picture of nurse joy and comparing it to the real counterpart next to it.

Luke walked in and saw his best friend connected to a river of wires and tubes all over his body, Luke went and sat quietly next to him, Luke hadn't noticed but he had left the door ajar and Ash, Misty and Brock decided to peer in through the crack that was created.

"Andy I always tell you not to attack head on unless you have to, I know it may have looked like an opening to attack but you should have paid more attention to Rydon"

He grabbed Andrews's lifeless but still warm hand tears starting to form in his eyes.

"If you go I'll have nothing left to live for, you were the reason I kept getting back up in those gym matches when I was knocked down, you were the reason I made it through the storms whether it be lighting, rain or snow and I haven't come this far to lose everything now, we promised we would be by each others side no matter what happens".

Misty's was starting to shed a tear over the beautiful words Luke was saying to his unconscious friend.

"He's something else, he's more powerful than any trainer I have ever witnessed but he's so caring and gentle, he's amazing" she whispered wiping a tear from her eye, Ash had heard what Misty had said and felt no emotion or sympathy for Luke, he felt annoyed that Misty was taking a shine to this stranger they had met no longer than a day ago.

Brock feeling he had been nosey towards Luke's privacy nudged the other two

"Lets leave them alone" and with that they quietly closed the door.

Luke stared at the heart rate monitor for a minute watching as every beep occurred he felt his heart beet go in rhythm with the monitor then out of sync again.

"Please be ok I don't know what id do if you weren't there for support, I got a present for you"

He got out the pokéball with the Rydon he had captured earlier.

"I believe this belongs to you, I'm gunna go now I hope you feel ok Ill come see you again in a while"

He nuzzled the pokéball in Andrew's hand and quietly walked out, wiping the tears away as he closed the door.

Ash and Misty were still sitting outside as if they had heard nothing; Brock had gone to get them all a couple of rooms at the pokemon centre but had got distracted by Nurse Joy on the way out of the door until Misty shot him an evil glance, Misty looked back round and got up walking over to Luke giving him a hug

"He'll be ok"
"I know he usually comes back from anything"
"Don't worry about somewhere to stay for the night; Brock has gone to get us some rooms at the pokemon centre"
"Thank you for everything you've done"
Misty blushed a rose red.

"It's ok, if it wasn't for you we would have been road kill right now, what was that attack you used to defeat all those Rydon?"

Luke hadn't realised that they had seen the attack from that farther distance and didn't really want to go into the story of how Lucky learnt such a devastating attack.

"It was just a flash attack that was all"

Ash sat there watching Misty and Luke talking.

"Just who does he think he is, acting so modest to try and win Misty, well if he wants to fight for her he'll get a fight, I'll battle him, that will prove I'm just as amazing as him"

He got up in a start.

"Luke..."

Luke turned to Ash; Ash was about to challenge him when he saw a shiny strip on his check from where he had been crying and thought it wasn't fair to challenge him to a pokémon battle while his friend was still unconscious, he wanted to win with Luke at his best that way it would be a victory worthy of a title such as amazing.

"Ash?" asked Luke wondering why Ash had called his name and then gone silent

Ash had to think of something to say quickly.

"Is Andrew ok?"
"He didn't look too bad" said Luke with a positive tone

At this a doctor appeared holding a clipboard with a lot of red ticks marked on the piece of paper in the clip.

"Well it's good news luckily the boy's Hitmonlee took most of the attack and is being treated at the pokemon center as for the boy he can be discharged in a few hours he just needs to rest a little longer"
"I'm glad he's ok," said Luke with a sigh of relief that his friend was ok.

Misty wrapped her arms around Luke and a tear rolled down her cheek and she began to softly sob into his shoulder Luke stood there and tried to figure out whether it was for Andrew or for him but he merely placed his arm around her and comforted her. Before Ash could make a comment Brock walked in and Misty pulled away to turn and look at him

"Rooms ready we can head over there now" Said Brock trying to figure out what was going on.
"Wait what about Andrew! We wont have to leave him here will we?" protested Luke

The doctor exited Andrews's room he had been inspecting all of the machines and checking over Andrew.

"I think it would be best to leave him over night I don't think he will wake before morning so don't worry we will take good care of him"

Reluctantly Luke and the others turned and left the hospital and headed over to the Pokémon centre no one said a word on the way over. As they entered the pokémon centre Luke couldn't help but look around and be amazed by the sheer size of it the entire roof was made of glass panes and the moonlight shone through onto the pale tiled floor and illuminated the pictures of various pokémon pictures on the walls. Once they had reached the rooms Ash spoke for the first time in what seemed like forever.

"There are two beds in one room and three in the other me, Brock and Luke will go in three bedded one Misty you take the other one"

Everyone was too tired to argue and so they all just nodded and resigned to their beds.

The clock clicked over to 3am and Luke lie blankly staring at the roof listening to the seconds tick away. He watched the minute had click to half past and decided that he couldn't take it anymore he was going to get Andrew back whatever it took. He pulled on his jacket and headed out to the hospital it was a good job that it was only just down the street, as Luke didn't trust the sounds he heard from the bushes and the dark corners. Once he arrived at the hospital he snuck past the front reception and headed towards Andrew's room he arrived and quietly entered the room. He hadn't moved from when Luke had left him earlier his hand still wrapped around the Pokéball Luke had placed there. Luke went and sat in the chair beside the bed and stared at the various machines placed around.

"You need to wake up we have a lot work to do remember?" said Luke laughing slightly as he spoke

Luke sat back and began to look up at the ceiling however what happened next took him totally by surprise.
