POKEMON HOENN JOURNEY: The adventures of Matthias and Ashley Part 1: Chapter 1: Pokemon Ahoy! "Going to recieve your pokemon now, aren't you?" Ashley asked her brother. Her beautiful black hair was being blown by the cool breeze of Littleroot Town. Ashley was exactly two months younger then Matthias. But it had not occurred to them that it was impossible. Both of them are 15 now. "yah." Matthias replied his younger sister. He walked out in his blue shirt with his black hair, long jeans and spectacles in his hand. "Why must you fail your final pokemon exam?" His sister asked. "We could be in Slateport City by now." Matthias had failed his final pokemon examination and must retake it a month later on the forth of january. He had recieved his results two days later through a special request of proffessor Birch. In that time, Ashley had recieved her first pokemon, Torchic, and her pokedex from Professor Birch. She was patient enough to wait for her brother to leave for their pokemon journey. Now Matthias was going to recieve his first pokemon, the only one not chosen by the four trainers that were suppose to leave Littleroot Town one month ago. Ashley and Matthias were two of the pokemon trainers. The other two was their rivals Josemi, a brown haired boy that lived next door with his twin sister, Josephine, the forth pokemon trainer. The four pokemon that was suppose to be given to the trainers were Torchic, the fire pokemon. Mudkip, the water pokemon. Treecko, the grass pokemon and Ralts, the psychic pokemon. He had wanted Ralts but being the rarest among the four pokemon, it was doubtful that it remained unclaimed. "I'll be waiting for you here in an hour." His sister told him. He nodded. ***** Being in a small town, it only took ten minutes to walk to Professor Birch's Laboratory. He knocked on the door. It screeched open. A Blacked haired man stood there. "Professor Birch!" Matthias said, shocked. "What happened to your hair?!" "I dyed it. Like it?" He asked. Matthias was uncertain on what to say. It could hurt the professor. "It's... Erm.... Alright...." Matthias said. "Come on in! Time to accept your pokemon." He said cheerfully. Obviously he had never recieved much positive comment about his new hair colour. Matthias entered the lab, it was two stories high and had a huge field seperated by a series of fences. That's where all the trainer's from Littleroot Town pokemon will be sent to when there is not enough space to carry them. Each trainer can carry a maximum of six pokemon at a time. He saw various rare pokemon in those fields. He saw a bull like pokemon (tauros), a lobster like pokemon (Paras), a balloon pokemon (Jigglypuff), a snake pokemon (Ekans) and many others. "The pokemon on your left are from the Kanto region. The one on your right is from Jhoto." Professor Birch told Matthias. Matthias looked to his right and saw a crocodile pokemon (Croconaw), a a egg pokemon (Togepi) and water mouse pokemon (Marill). Matthias followed professor Birch to a field that contained only a pokemon. "And this is your pokemon." Professor Birch sade. Matthias looked and a bird pokemon hopping on one leg. "My first pokemon is a Hoothoot?!" He literally yelled. Professor Birch just laughed. "So young..." He sighed. "This Hoothoot was a present from your sister's friend Quinton from Jhoto. She gave it to her last year during her birthday. She hadn't recieved her pokemon ID at that time so she passed it to me to look after it until she leaves with you for her pokemon journey." Professor Birch told him as he called it into a pokeball. "Pass this to your sister will you?" "Sure thing." He replied. "So what about my pokemon?" Professor Birch pointed to a pokemon playing around the water. Matthias had not seen it when he counted the pokemon visable when he first entered. "That's a Mudkip. The water pokemon." Professor Birch told him. "I was suprised it was left behind, it's one of the most skillful and the most experienced battling pokemon here. Now it's yours. You're really lucky to get such a great pokemon even after you failed your graduating exam." All Matthias did was giggle. They walked back into the lab. Professor Birch typed a few things into his computer then pulled out a pokedex from a small slot below the monitor. "Your pokedex." Professor Birch passed him a pokedex. " You're ID and first pokemon is already recorded. Now you and Ashley should go to the pokemon center to register yourselves into either the Hoenn league or the Hoenn challenge league. Over here Mudkip!" The water pokemon walked into the lab. "This is your new trainer." Mudkip leaped into his arms. "Here's your pokeballs and some healing potions. Supplmentary for trainers." Professor Birch explained. " So good luck on your journey. And remember, catch lots of pokemon!" Chapter 2: The rivals Matthias and Ashley were taking a walk to the pokemon center. Torchic and Mudkip were walking alongside them. "They seem to get along well." Ashley suddenly spoke up. "Yah." Matthias replied as they entered the pokemon center. "Welcome." Nurse Joy said. "How can I help you?" "We want to apply for this continent's league." Ashley told her. "Which league? The challenge league or Hoenn league?" Nurse Joy asked. "What's the difference?" Matthias asked. "The Hoenn league is evey trainer for him or herself." Nurse Joy started explaining. "For example, each of you will have to win a gym badge per trainer and you might even need to battle each other in the league." Matthias thought of the fact that he might need to beat his own sister. She would never forgive him then. Ashley seem to have came to a similar conclusion. "However, in the Hoenn challenge league," Nurse Joy said, interrupting their thoughts. "Is a team event. That means only one gym badge is needed per team. And you'll fight against other teams in the challenge league." To the siblings, that was the obvious choice. "The Challenge League!" They both answered simutanously. "Alright. Your pokedex please." Nurse Joy collected their pokedex and walked to a large screen. She selected a function and typed 'Hoenn Challenge League' There was a loading bar then a sreen with two pokeballs at the background appeared. A familiar song sounded from the background, he reconised the song called 'The game'. The theme song for every Hoenn League. She entered Ashley's name and removed her pokedex. Then she inserted Matthias' pokedex. Then a voice sounded from the computer. "Registration approved. Ashley and Matthias of Littleroot Town." "Here you go." Nurse Joy returned them their pokedex. "Collect eight badges from eight different Cities in Hoenn. Make sure they are official." ***** Ashley and Matthias were on the way out of town when their best friend, Xavier, ran to them. "Hey! Guys!" Xavier called out. He was a trainee attached to a pokemon research facility in Slateport and was visiting his family. "I caught two pokemon for you. Both are electric type and enjoy helping each other." He handed Ashley a blue pokeball with a negative sign on it and gave Matthias a reddish pokeball with a positive sign on it. Two cute mouse pokemon appeared. "The red on is Plusle and the blue one is called a Minun." Xavier explained. "May this two pokemon bring you success in your journey." "Thanks Xavier." The siblings said. Ashley hugged him and Matthias did their favourite special handshake. "hey losers!" A voice came from behind. They turned and saw Josemi and Josephine. "So you starting you're pokemon journey. That's a joke!" Josephine laughed, pointing at Ashley. "I see you're doing no better." Matthias said, hoping to push back the insult. "A month since you've started you're journey, you're still in Littleroot." "Really?" Josemi said. "Then what's this?" He took out a album to keep gym badges and he Matthias saw two badges in it. "These are badges from Rustboro and Dewford." Josemi said proudly. "We decided to stop by to check on you losers out." "Oh yeah!" Matthias lost his cool, he charged towards Josemi but was restrained by Xavier. "I challenge you to a pokemon battle!" Their rivals laughed. "Please! You want to add another defeat in your book so soon?" Josephine taunted. It was true that since they were five, Josemi and Josephine has beaten them in everything including sports, exam results and that's only half of it. "Come back and challenge us when you're stronger." Josemi said. "Let's go sis, our ships leaving." The twins walked away. "One day, I'll just teach them a lesson." Matthias said. "It's we. We'll teach them a lesson." Ashley corrected her brother. "We'll send them off faster then a Noctowl!" Then Matthias remembered. "Oh yah, remember you're Hoothoot you recieved on you're birthday?" Matthias said as he handed the pokeball to his sister. "Oh how dumb!" Ashley yelled. "How could I forget! I've always wanted a Noctowl!" They left Littleroot town with a goal and a team of five pokemon. They head to Oldale Town to find out more about pokemon.
