Chapter 5: But I Thought it was YOUR birthday!


     May was sick of alternate universes and their little twists. They
were bringing a lot of unexpected twists to her new happy world.

     They had been sitting under a tree on route 104 on that one
confusing day. May had been trying to think of what had happened after
they had visited her father. 

Brendan's birthday.

     It was his birthday that had changed everything. After she had been
attacked by Team Magma, she had been so grateful to Brendan that she had
kissed him. Then she had heard him say he liked her. And then, at his
party, she had told him that she liked him too- and they had started
going out.

     It was time to bring it up- and change everything again.

     "Hey, B-boy, doesn't somebody have a birthday coming up soon?" she
asked playfully. Brendan looked at her with a grin.

     "What are you hinting at, May-ple? I already know your birthday is
next week!"

She hadn't been prepared for THAT.

     "WHAT?" she cried.

     "Yes, May, don't play dumb. Now what do you want?"

     "My birthday isn't for three monthes!"

     "No, MY birthday is in three monthes, your's is next week!"

     She chuckled nervously. "Oh yeah, you're right!" she exclaimed.

     He gave her a weird look, but by now, she was getting used to those
kinds of looks from Brendan. "May, you are really scaring me! What has
been up with you lately?"

     "Nothing! I'm still the same May!" Haha, what a lie. She wasn't
exactly twenty-seven and Wally's wife at the moment. Toto, we are not in
Kansas anymore...

     "Sure... So seriously, what do you want for your birthday?"

     "I don't know, be creative!" she told him. At the thought of his
birthday, May remembered one little detail. He had gotten a Poochyena.
May had been really freaked out by that, as the little dogs had hated
her on their previous journey. Because she had been attacked, but then
rescued by Brendan. Had they gotten to her this time too?

     "I should get going then. You know, to get started on finding you a
present!" Brendan said, breaking her train of thought. 

     "Okay, if you say so. I'll be staying at the Pokemon Center in
Petalburg again."

     "Okay, well, I'll probably stay at the Center in Rustboro. I'll
call you later."

     By then, the sun had almost finished setting and May yawned. She
had no idea that the next day, everything would change again.

I know this was a little short, but I have a good idea for the next
chapter.
