Dedications: This fic is dedicated to Ashla, who helped me plan this (sorta) and who thought of the title! and gawd knows how much help I need with titles, cuz I've used so many of them. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 1: Good-bye You know how before a natural disaster, everything in nature is absolutely silent? The rivers seem to stop flowing, the birds stop chirping and the wind stops howling. That's exactly what was happening on route 121. Nobody had said a word until May Maple's PokeGear (so what if they're not in Hoenn?) rang. "Hello?" answered the 14 year old trainer. "Oh, hi Mom." May's best friend, Brendan Birch, rolled his eyes at the overly-worried mother act. "Okay, we're on our way." May hung up. Brendan gave May a weird look. "What was THAT about?" May blinked. "My mom said I had to come home right away, that she needed to discuss something with us." May called out her Swellow and told it to go home to Littleroot. Brendan and May rode on Swellow for at least 20 minutes without saying a word. When Swellow landed, May recalled her with a solemn look and walked inside. "Mom...?" May wanted to scream. Around the house were various boxes. Her mother was sitting down. "May, I've got important news." May bit her lip. "We're moving back to Johto. You need to stop training in Hoenn and stay home and help us pack." May's eyes filled with tears. Brendan was in shock. May dragged Brendan outside. "We need to talk," she said. Once they were outside, both of the trainers knew it was probably the last time they'd ever talk and there were so many things they had to say to each other. May was the one who opened her mouth. "Well, Brendan, I guess it's time to say good-bye." Brendan stared at her. "I'm going to miss you, May. But I'm going to come and say good-bye the day you move." May started to cry. "I don't want to leave!" Brendan's own eyes filled with tears. "I don't want you to leave. I don't know what I'm going to do without you!" May smiled. "You're probably going to find some other girl to annoy the heck out of you and you'll forget all about me." Brendan stared at her. "Never. I'll never forget you." THE DAY OF THE MOVE May stared at her old house for the last time. Good things had happened there. She turned her head to look at Brendan's home. The place where they hadmet. 'I'm never going to forget YOU, Brendan Birch.' "MAY!" somebody called. May spun around, to see none other than Brendan. "B-Boy!!" May cried, racing over to her best friend. "What are you doing here?" she asked. Brendan smiled. "I told you I'd be here, May-ple." "May! Time to go!" May started to cry again. She took her red bandana off her head. She handed it to Brendan. "Keep it," she told him. "To remember me by." "MAY!! Come on!" her mom waved her to the moving van. May gave Brendan a quick hug. "Good-bye Brendan Birch," she whispered. Long after May and her family had gone in the moving van, Brendan was still standing at the exact same spot where May had left him. Finally, he broke the silence with, "I don't need a bandana to remember. I'll NEVER forget you, May." --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Awwww...
