Chapter 31: Cellular The sound of his cell phone ringing woke Nathan up. "Damn solicitors..." he muttered. Taylor still hadn't woken up, or maybe he was pretending to be asleep, but whatever he was doing, he didn't get up. "Hello?" he answered. "Nathan?" a groggy, weak voice answered back, but he recognized it immediately. "JENN!" he exclaimed and Taylor sat right up. "It's Jenn?" he asked loudly and Nathan nodded to him. "Shh!" I scolded him. "Don't be so loud. He might wake up and he doesn't know I have my cell phone." "Who's he, Jenn? Who kidnapped you?" I know that I sounded wheezy and distant to him. "Giovanni, the ex-leader of Team Rocket," I said. Bingo! They had a name! And now hopefully they would find me! "What did he do to you, Jenny? You sound sick," he informed me. "I don't know. I feel really queasy and I've been sick to my stomach a lot. And I'm dizzy and I have a headache." "Where are you at?" he asked me. "Giovanni said that we're on our way to Johto. To an old hideout of his in Goldenrod. We're on a raft in the middle of the ocean and all I can see is water." "We're on our way, Jenny!" he yelled and then he hung up. Help was on it's way. I think. It's a good thing Nathan hung up when he did because Giovanni woke up about five seconds after we got off the phone. I knew Giovanni was seriously freaking out over my ill condition, but it was his fault anyways. Nathan really needed to hurry, I felt like I was going to die. ***** "Taylor, she's on a raft in the middle of the ocean and she's sick. We've got to go!" Nathan yelled, dragging his companion out of bed. At that moment, Taylor's phone rang. "Administrator Taylor, what's taking you so long?" barked Maxie. "You were supposed to tell them it wasn't us, and then leave." "I'm staying to find Jenn," Taylor said, surprising Nathan and himself. "Oh, proving our innocence?" Maxie retorted. "No, proving MY innocence and besides, I owe it to her to save her." "Why, all that crying abuse bullshit? Taylor, you don't owe her shit." "I owe her a lot more than you know," Taylor replied and Nathan was looking at him in wonder. "Taylor, just shut up and get back here. I have something else for you and that kid Wally to do." "Maxie, I don't think this kind of life fits me anymore," he stated. "I guess having a mother doesn't fit you either," said Maxie evilly. "Listen, Maxie, you don't need me so just leave me and my mother and Jenn alone!" he cried. "But you see, Taylor, I do need you. You have a power that fits our group and whether you fit or not doesn't matter. But the only way you can quit is if you don't want to see your mother again." "Why are you doing this to me?" Nathan watched him talk in wide-eyed wonder. "Because we need the power you have. Now after you rescue that little miss perfect bitch, I expect you back at headquarters and not a moment after." And then he hung up. He was helpless now. But at least he would save Jenn, and maybe someday she would forgive him. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Sorry this was so short, but the next one will be better.
