Chapter 1: First Day of School Jenn Frost walked through the door on August 31st, fifteen minutes late and with a paper clutched in her hand. "Where have you been?" yelled her oldest sibling. "Doing drugs," she replied casually. Bobby looked at her in disbelief. "Kidding, gosh! Like I would. I was talking with... Alexis! Yeah, Alexis!" "What's that paper?" her brother asked suspiciously. "Nothing!" she cried, throwing it in the trash. Bobby grabbed it and looked at it. "Trash digger..." she muttered. "A 33%?!" he cried disbelievingly. "Dang, this new teacher must have it in for you more than Mr. Garcia did! Who do you have?" "Mr. Wilson, and besides for the fact that he's a perv, he's pretty cool. He doesn't have it in for me. It's for a different reason that I got an F," she sighed happily. Bobby thought for a moment. "You have a new boyfriend!" he said accusingly. "Yep! I haven't had one in two weeks! Life has been so boring..." "Yeah, because it was SO long ago that you broke up with Adam Jackson," he said sarcastically. "So who's the guy now?" "I did NOT break up with Adam! He broke up with me, because he thought we were getting too serious! Like a two month, two week and four day relationship isn't going to be serious..." she trailed off. "I'm shocked that you know exactly how long you guys went out... But who is it, Jenn?" She chuckled nervously. "Promise you won't freak out?" "It's not Patrick, is it? And you're not going back out with Sam? Cuz that little jackass has it coming, I'm going to kick his-" "No, it's not Sam!" she interrupted. "Or Patrick! I do sit next to Sam in English though... But anyways, do you remember Taylor Flora?" "Yeah, he's such a nerd," Bobby commented, rolling his eyes. "Well, you see, he got REALLY cute over the summer and now he wears Vans-" "The girly girl who likes boys with skater shoes," Bobby noticed. "Yeah, so what? But yeah, he asked me out today and I said yes! And like I could concentrate on a math quiz with something so important happening..." "Is that what you're going to tell our parents?" Bobby asked wickedly. "They're never going to know!" she said gleefully and with that, she called out her Typhlosion and told him to burn up the paper. She recalled her Pokemon then, a big grin on her face. Bobby shook his head in mock shame. "What are we ever going to do with you, Jenifer Frost?" "Send me to Hoenn in the back of a moving truck!" she joked. The house phone rang then, and Jenn jumped up like an athlete to get it. "It might be Taylor!" she cried and Bobby couldn't stop himself from laughing. "Hello?" she answered and faintly, she heard herself say hello again. "Who is this?" and once again, she faintly heard her repeated words. "Jenn, who's phone is this?" she heard her brother say loudly into the phone. He held up a blue Cricket phone to her. "Well, it's not mine, you know how I hate the Cricket company. And don't you use Sprint? Because I know I have Verizon Wireless." "Yeah, I have Sprint. Could it be Brooke's?" he asked, referring to the middle child. The whole time Jenn was listening to them on the household phone, Bobby's voice louder than her own. "No, she has a flip phone. Not sure what company." Instinctly, she grabbed it. "Hello?" she yelled. Her voice repeated itself loudly to the home phone. The receiver was facing upward on their phone and even without her ear pressed to it, she could hear herself loudly. She hung up the Cricket phone and it fell from her hand and exploded. "I told you those things were pieces of crap!" Jenn yelled. "No, I don't think that's the case right now. Something weird is happening. I think we're being watched."
