Chapter 1: Rain The rain hit down on his head. This was the end. Rain ran down Brendan's face like they were tears. Or maybe there's the fact that maybe they were his tears. "May, why?" he whispered. The wind blew him back a few paces, but he didn't care. He didn't know where he was going. He didn't care about anything anymore. His dreams had been shattered. He was alone. It had started out as the perfect day. The sun shone down on the two as they finally reached Evergrande City. "Oh my gawd, I can't believe we're actually here!" May had exclaimed, eyes gazing on the many flowers around the land. "I thought the Pokemon League was here," he had grumbled. "B-Boy, the Pokemon League is on the other end of this tunnel," she explained patiently. She smiled to herself. Brendan had walked into the Pokemon Center, not saying a word. "Brendan, what's with you?" May asked, tilting her head to the side. "Don't wanna talk about it," Brendan muttered. May backed away. "Okay then, B- Boy." What was really bothering him was that he liked May. That didn't bother him. It was the fact that he didn't how to tell her. He didn't want her to end up with some nerd like Wally but he couldn't tell her. The two retrieved their Pokemon and walked outside. The air was slightly chilly. Brendan shivered. He could feel something bad was going to happen. He just knew something would. They walked into Victory Road. Bunches of trainers challenged them, many of them posing a threat to make them start over at the beginning. Bunches of wild Pokemon attacked, May finally catching the Lairon she wanted, Brendan now with a Hariyama. "May!" calls a voice behind them. They turn around, only to see Wally running up to them. "Shit," muttered Brendan. "Hi May!" he said enthusiastically. "Brandon," he said in a bored voice, nodding to him. "Wallace," Brendan said coldly, also nodding. "My Pokemon have gotten so much stronger!" Wally squealed. "Oh, you actually have more than a level 30 Ralts? I'm shocked," Brendan said, rolling his eyes. "Brendan, be NICE to Wally," May said. "Yeah," Wally chimed in, smirking at Brendan. "Let's battle! I want to show you how strong my Pokemon are!" Wally challenged. Brendan nodded. "6 on 6! No items!" said May. Brendan nodded; his hand grasped Splash's Poke Ball, Wally's hand on Delcatty's. The two let their Pokemon out. "Assist/Mud Shot!" They yelled at the same time. Assist turned out to be Calm Mind. "Nice." Brendan said, rolling his eyes. "Doubleslap!" Wally yelled. The attack barely did anything to Splash. "Muddy Water!" The attack knocked Delcatty out. Brendan grinned. "1 down, 5 to go." Wally let out Roselia. "Crap." mumbled Brendan. May didn't know who to cheer for so she was silent. Brendan recalled Splash and let out Flicker (a Ninetails). "Flamethrower!" He yelled. "Protect," Wally told Roselia. It blocked the fire attack. "Sunny Day!" Wally told Roselia. "Smokescreen!" The sun got brighter. "Solarbeam!" Wally yelled. The beam collided full force at Flicker. She fainted. "1 down, 5 to go," mumbled Wally. Brendan let out Winger (a Swellow). "Wing Attack!" Brendan yelled. Roselia was knocked out instantly. Wally's next Pokemon was a Magneton. "Thunderbolt!" The swallow Pokemon had no time to attack. It was fried by Magneton. Brendan called out Splash again. "Mud Shot!" Brendan called. He watched Magneton fall. An Altaria was sent out in Magneton's place. Altaria hyper beamed Splash and Splash fell, defeated. 'Oh my gawd, oh my gawd. Who can I send out?' Brendan chose a Mightyena named Poochy to replace Splash. "Swagger," Brendan said weakly. May watched on with worry. The swagger confused Altaria. But it eventually snapped out of it, though very weak from attacking itself. "Crunch," Brendan said. Altaria then flew up and struck Mightyena and he fainted. Brendan called him back and let out his last Pokemon, a Gardevoir. The Gardevoir used Psychic on Altaria and it fainted. Wally then called out his final Pokemon, also a Gardevoir. The two gulped, both realizing that this wasn't going to be an easy match. "Calm Mind," said Wally calmly (Ha ha, that was a pun). Brendan gulped. "Shock wave." The wave of lightning shocked WG (aka Wally's Gardevoir). "Psychic!" they both yelled. Both Pokemon were weak. "Psychic!" Brendan yelled. "Teleport," Wally said smirking. WG did a sneak attack Psychic on Gardevoir. Gardevoir fainted. Wally had won the battle. Brendan's face turned pale white (even paler than his hair, lol) and he fell to his knees. "Congratulations, Wally," May said softly. Brendan looked horror-stricken. "You did well, Brendan," she quietly told Brendan. Brendan was shaking. "I can't believe I lost." he muttered. "May?" he asked. "Yeah Brendan?" "Can we leave now?" May shrugged. "Sure. See ya later, Wally!" They walked out. They registered at the League and then walked to their cabin. As soon as they got there, Brendan shut the door. "I can't believe you," he said disgustedly. May blinked. "Who? Me?" Brendan looked at her. "Of course you! I don't see anybody else in here!" May gave him a weird look. "What did I do?" Brendan glared at her, the expression on his face looking as if she was a cockroach. "You were ALL over Wally, May!" he said. "That was the most disgusting thing I've ever seen. No, scratch that. WALLY is the most disgusting thing I've ever seen. How could you?" May scoffed. "You're just jealous of him because he has such cool Pokemon and he beat you in battle." Brendan rolled his eyes. "Yah, May. I'm really jealous of a Roselia and a bunch of other cutesy weak Pokemon." "If they're so weak, why did they beat you?" May countered. Brendan stared at her. "Why are you sticking up for him? You're supposed to be my friend!" May glared at him. "What, now I'm not allowed to have any other friends, Brendan?" Brendan shrugged. "Of course you're allowed to have friends! Just not Wally!" May stared at him. "I'll be friends with whoever I friggin want Brendan Birch! And just in case you care, I happen to be in love with Wally!" she burst out. Brendan froze. Tears then filled his eyes. "Fine then May! I don't care! Because I never have to stare at Wally's hideous face again! And I'm never going to see your face again either!" May blinked. "What do you mean you're never going to see my face again? Of course you are! We travel together!" Brendan stared at her coldly. "We USED to travel together, May! Because I now have nothing to do with you and your sorry ass boyfriend! It's over, May, and I'm leaving." May started to cry. "Brendan! Don't leave me! Please don't leave me!" She fell onto the floor, bawling her eyes out. Brendan only stared at her, anger in his eyes. "Too bad for you, May. I'm out of here. For good." He walked out the door, leaving May only to sob on the floor. "Brendan." she said. The wind howled in his ears, but all he heard was May. "I'll be friends with whoever I friggin want Brendan Birch! And just in case you care, I happen to be in love with Wally!" Tears rolled down Brendan's face. "How could you, May? How could you?" "I'm sorry, Brendan," replied a meek voice behind him. Brendan spun around, realizing that it was May. The rain had stopped, but droplets of water still fell on his face. "I'm sorry," she repeated, her voice filled with sadness. "It's not my fault, though." Rage filled Brendan. "NOT YOUR FAULT?! May, you were acting like a fucking slut! You were all over him!" May gaped at him. "What?! You're just being a sore loser, Brendan! You're just jealous because he's stronger than you!" Brendan stared coldly at her. He pulled a gun out of his coat pocket. He held it at his head. "Do you consider THIS jealous, May?" "Brendan, don't!" she pleaded. It was too late. He pulled the trigger.
