Note: This chapter is very short and hopefully the next one will be longer J Also the first bit was meant to be a prologue, just so you don’t get confused.

CHAPTER 1: HOW IT BEGAN

Ash Ketchum stood looking out at the horizon. He felt very pleased with himself. He had just won a gym badge and it had not been easy. A slight breeze blew, ruffling his spiky black hair. On his shoulder perched his Pikachu, a little yellow mouse with red pouches on its cheeks like a hamster’s. But these pouches didn’t contain food, not by a long shot! They contained thousands of watts of electricity. “Pika! Pika, chu pika.” it said happily. Ash chuckled and patted it. Meanwhile a girl stood by him, with her hands on her hips and her head cocked to one side. “Ash,” she complained in her whiny voice, “Let’s go! We haven’t eaten since breakfast and I’m starving!”

“Misty’s right,” said his other companion, a teenage boy with narrow eyes and untidy brown hair. He held up a frying pan. “Let’s eat!”

“YEAH!” cried Ash, whirling around with stars in his eyes. Misty tutted. If Ash had ever known true love, it would have been for Brock’s cooking. Suddenly they heard two familiar voices.

“Prepare for trouble!”

“And make it –”

Ash groaned. “Can’t you leave us alone?! We’re about to eat.”

“Oh, well that changes everything,” said the man sarcastically.

“We’re going to steal your Pikachu now, twerp!” cried the woman.

“And this time, it’ll woik,” said their Pokemon, a Meowth. It gave a shrill whistle, and a huge robot staggered forward. The robot reached towards Pikachu with a huge plasticky arm. “Oh no you don’t!” Ash cried. He held tight to Pikachu, who looked terrified. The robot started to pick them both up, but staggered under the weight of an eleven year old boy as well as a Pokemon. It faltered, and then exploded. Pikachu, unconscious, fell to the ground. And Ash was nowhere to be seen. But, of course, this didn’t stop Team Rocket. The woman bent down and picked up the knocked out Pikachu. “Goodbye, twerps. I think it’s safe to say…we win.” And with that they departed.

Another Pikachu was watching from behind a bush. How dare they? There sure were horrible people in this world. “Pi-ka-chu,” it growled softly, and electricity crackled from its cheeks. It had to report this. If it didn’t, Team Rocket could take over the world!
