Chapter 2
“The Journey Begins”
Note: The real name of Prof. Prairie is Prof. Grass
 
Last chapter we found out what Pokemon Pat chose, a Totodile. This chapter Pat gets his first
Pokemon battle. He is also sent on a small job for Prof. Prairie, but it turns out to be more then
that.
 
“Aw man mom, I was about to battle Ska, but you interrupted me.” Well Pat, your nutrition is
important, you need 100% pure health if you’re going out on that adventure!” Mom, I don’t even
like green beans...wait, why am I having green beans for breakfast!? Well, you need them so
you have to eat them if you want to win! Well, okay...(thinking in his head. I hope Totodile likes
green beans) Hey Totodile, want some food? Toto Toto Dillllle. Oh good he likes green beans
Pat thought to himself. Well mom I’m going to be going now. Wait! I have a call from Prof.
Prairie. He says to meet him in his lab before you go. He needs you to do something for
him.”Okay, Pat said. Well mom, I guess this is goodbye. Well Pat, remember that I’ll be rooting
for you, good luck. ::Pat’s mom grabs him in a long hug::: Oh mom, it’s not like I’ll never be back.
I know, but.. ::sniff:: it’s just that I’ll have no one here to be happy with...ehem...Other then your
father that is, she said very quickly. I know mom, but I’ll be back on visits. Well, I guess that
means that I’ll just be seeing you now..goodbye son. I’ll see ya mom, bye! Just then as he ran
out the door with his backpack and hoody on. She just remember him as a little boy, with brown
hair and those green eyes, how she loved those. But she had to remember, now he was a big
boy, 13 years old, 5’5” he wore red white and black mesh shorts, a blue shirt and a gray hood.
Just what I normal kid wore, and she had to except that he was moving on. Just as she accepted
this, a tear rolled down her check.
 
Pat ran into Prof. Prairies lab. “Hi Professor my mom said you had something to give me”. Yes, I
do, Ska ran off in such a hurry with his new Pokemon (what IS it Pat thought) , that he forgot his
PokéDex. So, if you could run off and catch up to him I’ll give you this map, and this coupon for
7 free Pokéballs and a free Great Ball. Really! Thanks Professor. Well, I really have to catch up
to Ska, see ya Prof. Wait, Pat, just remember to turn right on Green grass road, not left, if you
turn left you’ll end up at the Prairie League Tournament center, you want to go to Red River
Town. Okay, thanks Professor Prairie.
 
Well Totodile, I don’t like keeping Pokemon in their pokeballs right now, I’ve never been down
these roads. Toto Toto Dilllllle. Hey Totodile what moves do you know right now. Um, lets see,
::flashes PokéDex over Totodile:::Totodile, water type. Currently knows Tackle Growl, Scratch
and Water Gun. Cool, so you know one Water Move. Works for me... Well, lets get going. 
 
:::Fifty Minutes later::: Look, it’s a wild Bellsprout, Totodile. Let’s try our battling ability. Okay
Bellsprout, you’re going down. Bellsprout turned around and looked right at him. Okay Totodile
use Scratch Attack. Totodile ran Bellsprout and then jumped up in the air landed behind
Bellsprout and used Scratch. Bellsprout didn’t know what hit him. There was a small gash on the
back of Bellsprouts flower. Bell Bel Sprout...BELL! Bellsprout whipped around and used Wrap on
Totodile. Oh no Pat yelled! This is bad, what should I do Pat thought to himself. Hmm... I have to
think fast, he stole a glance at Totodile, he was yelling and struggling to get out. That’s it.
Totodile use Water Gun at the ground and keep going until it lets go. Totodile let out a blast of
Water Gun at the ground. Bellsprout planted its roots into the ground ready for this to happen.
But the Water Gun was to strong to high. Bellsprout let go and Totodile flew into the air. YES
shouted Pat, Now Totodile use Tackle at the top of Bellsprout. Totodile quit the Water Gun and
turned toward the ground. He speed up and faster and faster. Bellsprout was just too tired to
move. It was a direct hit right on the top. It drove Bellsprout straight into the ground. Battle over.
YES! I won. Well then Totodile good job, return. Well, I’m 1-0 and I’m undefeated Shouted Pat!
