Strange Destiny

A/N: Would you believe I don?t own Pokémon? You do? Well you need to get your head examined ?cause I don?t own Pokémon. Wish I did, though. *Jumps up and down excitedly* Oh! Oh! Would ya believe it? The second chappie is up. *Sniggers* Since I have never else to tell ya I?ll just let you read this chapter.

Chapter 2

I stared at the Pokémon in front of Gavin. It was small and mostly a light blue with a red spiky ridge and a long, wide snout. It told on two legs, but kept jumping energetically from one foot to another. It was kinda cute and I then realised that it was my favourite Johto Starter Pokémon, Totodile.

Looking down at my own Pokémon made me gasp. Standing in front of me was a smaller male Charmander, but it was completely white. I?m not kidding you. It was about a few millimetres smaller then your average Charmander, but its eyes were icy blue and its tail flame was whitish-blue.

"That must be the unusual Pokémon Professor Tallery was talking about." Gavin said, staring dumbstruck at my starter Pokémon.

I blink a few times. Whoa! I just had gotten a very rare Pokémon out of something that isn?t normally common. Wow, I never get this much luck.

The Charmander stared at his opponent before blinking up at me. "Char?"

"Sorry." I said, remembering that he was going to have his first ever battle. "Ok, Charmander use a Scratch attack!"

"You too, Totodile!" Gavin ordered his Pokémon.

The two Pokémon rushed towards each other. The Charmander was small, but surprisingly quick and agile. He leaped into the air and when coming down for the landing, scratched the Totodile right across its top jaw. The Totodile cried out in pain as it blindly tried to scratch Charmander with its own claws, but my little white Charmander dodged the attack and used one more Scratch to defeat his watery opponent.

"Good work, Charmander!" I smiled proudly as my Charmander cheered happily in his own way. "You won your first ever battle and its even against a Water type. I?m so proud of you. Come on Charmander you deserve a rest."

I was just about to recall Charmander when he shook his head firmly. I was confused at first then realised that he probably didn?t even like Pokéballs.

"You don?t like Pokéballs?" I asked him and he shook his head, shuddering slightly as if the very thought of Pokéballs creep his out. I smiled reassuringly at him. "Well in that case then you don?t have to go inside a Pokéball."

He looked extremely relieved at that and I was glad that he had seemed to except the fact that I was his new trainer, but still seemed a little worried and confused for some reason.

Gavin walked up to me and gave me half of his money, which was only three-thousand-two-hundred-and-sixty-four since he got most of his money from his parents who are extremely rich. That brought me to three-thousand-eight-hundred-and-sixty-four since I already had six hundred Pokébucks with me.

"You may have won this battle, but the next one you won?t. I can promise you that." Gavin sneered at me, his eyes narrowed.

"Yeah, whatever!" I said, counting my money. Besides Pokémon and Dragons one of my favourite hobbies is collecting money. Admittedly money can?t buy anyone happiness, but it sure can buy a lot of good stuff.

Abbey wasn?t around, so I decided to go shopping. There was a small room on the boat that belonged to an old man who sells quiet a number of different items depending on what he has there. If you don?t have any money then you can trade one of your items for one of his. Plus, for six hundred Pokébucks his grandson will train one of your Pokémon for a day, which only really lazy or desperate Pokémon trainers do.

I went in and stared at awe at the stuff in there. This man must be quiet a collector and its very nice of him to want to sell them, even through I have no idea what he?s going to do with the money.

Oh one corner of the room was a bed, but of course this was just a normal room, except for the pile of items on the shelves and tables. Sitting on the bed reading a magazine was an old man. He looked up at me as I walked in and quickly stood up.

"Have you come to buy something?" He asked eagerly and I nodded. "Then take a look around, but only buy what you need."

I nodded again and took a look around. In the end I brought four Pokéballs; four Antidotes; five Paralyze Heals; and three Burn Heals since I didn?t want to spend all my money. I handed two-thousand-seven-hundred-and-fifty to the old man, which left me with only one-thousand-one-hundred-and-fourteen.

I thanked the old man and walked straight back out, almost bumping into Abbey. I instantly noticed that she was carrying a small back full of items. Since Falkner is a Gym Leader he gets heaps of money form winning battles, so it isn?t a surprise when Abbey comes over carrying bags of stuff. What surprised me was that she only had one back of items whereas she usually has more then four, but this plastic bag was only half full.

"Wow, you sure have been busy." I commented.

Abbey shrugged as she transferred her items from the plastic bag to her orange and yellow backpack. "I thought I might as well buy some stuff from that old man. I was going to pick up a few TMs there, but they are way too expensive for me at the moment. Here!" She handed me six Potions, eleven Super Potions and nine Awakenings and I took ?em gratefully from her.

Fifteen minutes later the ship at arrived at Vermillion. As we slowly made our way to the train station I took a look around, thinking that someday Abbey and I would be back here again, so that I could get my third badge.

They very thought of really starting my Pokémon journey excited me and I told this to Abbey as we found our seats on the train, which wasn?t actually too crowed. Abbey just sat there fingering her Torchic?s Pokémon as she listened to me babble non-stop about which Pokémon I was hoping to find on the way to Viridian City, but Abbey only told me she was looking to capture only one Pokémon here and that was a strong female Pidgey.

The train arrived in Pallet in just ten minutes, so it was a quick ride. We all piled out and i headed straight for Route 1 eager to start capturing and training my Pokémon. Abbey followed closely behind me, but after about twenty minutes she started to complain.

"Come on, Loui we?ve been here all day and we still haven?t found any Pokémon." She complained. Her hands were resting impatiently on her hips. "I have to tell ya, I think Pokémon are starting to become extinct around here."

I laughed and pointed behind her. "No they?re not! Look, a female Pidgey!"

"A Pidgey?" Abbey wondered and then quickly grew excited. "All right this Pokémon is mine!"

I rolled my eyes at that, but didn?t comment. After I did see it first, but at the moment a Pidgey wasn?t one of the Pokémon I wanted to capture around here. While Abbey was battling the Pidgey with her Torchic I wondered off to find and capture a Pokémon of my own.

"Hey, look at this!" Abbey called out to me and I rushed towards her. "That Pidgey seems familar to me, but I can?t think why." She frowned a little and looked around. "Plus, this Pidgey is way too strong to be around here. I wonder if she has a trainer."

I stared down at the Pidgey. "Wha makes you think you know this one? They all look the same to me."

Abbey was about to answer, but then stopped. She stared at the Pidgey for a while before mumbling a word I could barely here. "Avis!"

"Who?" I asked, but then remembered what Abbey has told me about her Pidgey. She had named it Avis, but it had flown away one day after too much battling. Obviously if this was Avis she had chosen to live here.

"Avis is that you?" Abbey asked, smiling happily. "I didn?t notice it was you at first. How are you?"

Abbey seemed strangely polite at the Pidgey since it did fly off from her, which I guess was pretty understandable. Avis, if this was Avis, ruffled up her feathers annoyed. She chirped a few times and even though I had trouble understanding what she said Abbey however did not, which didn?t surprise my since she?s been with Bird Pokémon ever since she was born.

"Look, I?m sorry about the past Avis, but you agree maybe we can start all over." Abbey suggested hopefully and Avis looked doubtful. "I know I?ve overtrained you in the past and I?m sorry, but I?ve learned from that experience now. If you decide to come back with me once again then I promise I won?t make you battle if you don?t want to."

Avis chirped a few words, which must have been reassuring ?cause Abbey smiled and took out a spare empty Pokéball. Avis gave one more chirp, which could have been ?thank you? and disappeared into the Pokéball.

I was really happy for Abbey, but now it was time for me to capture my first Pokémon. I felt something bump into my leg and when I looked down I saw a Spearow that was obviously searching for insects and wasn?t looking where it was going. It squawked up at me and narrowed its eyes dangerously when it realised that i was a trainer.

I shrugged and calmly told Charmander to get ready to battle. I might as well capture a Spearow since they are very tough Pokémon. The Spearow glared at me as it flapped its wings to gain attitude.

"Charmander start off with Scratch attack!" I ordered Charmander?s first move with enthusiasm.

Charmander jumped up high into the air. He had jumped so high that he reached the Spearow with ease and scratched it across one wing. The Spearow now unable to fly crashed into the ground as Charmander landed safely on his feet.

Without a second hesitation I threw one of my spare Pokéballs at the fallen Spearow. The Pokéball barely even twitched as the light went from red to white, indicating that I had made my first capture. I cheered loudly, but then stopped when I realised that an unfamiliar voice was also cheering along with me.

"Yeah, I?m the hottest! The greatest! Woo, ya don?t have a chance of beating me ?cause I?m a killing machine! Yahoo!"

I blinked at my white Charmander. "Um...did you say that?"

The Charmander looked as if it wanted to drown itself. It slapped its forehead with a white clawed hand, while muttering under his breath. "Must not kill trainer and her friend."

I was shocked by that sentence, but the Charmander grinned at me to show that he was only joking.

"Yeah, I said that." He said. "I?m a magic talking Charmander and I?d introduce myself to ya, but unfortunately I lack a nickname that seems to make me important or something if you get what I mean."

I nodded as Abbey stared in awe at my Charmander. "You sure are quiet a hazard since you beat a Totodile and Spearow with ease."

"Ha, it was easy!" The Charmander bragged, then looked confused. "Um...what exactly is a hazard?"

"A hazard is a risk to danger." I explained. "A thing that is likely to cause an injury such as fire. For example putting flammable clothing too close to a heater can be hazardous ?cause it might catch fire and burn. Sticking a knife into a toaster that is turned on is dangerous, because you might electrocute yourself. A Pokémon battling you is a hazard ?cause you might defeat them with just one single attack."

"Hazard." The Charmander said thoughtfully. "I like that word and it seems to explain me in just one single syllable. Hey, could you perhaps call me Hazard instead of just Charmander?"

I nodded. "Sure, of course. Hey, that reminds me. I should give every Pokémon I receive and capture a nickname since it isn?t nice just to call them by their species."

I released my newly caught Spearow who just ruffled his feathers grumpily at me. I asked him if he wanted a nickname, but I couldn?t understand what he was babbling about.

"He said whatever." Hazard translated for me and I thanked him.

"Ok, so a nickname. Hmmm, let me think. How ?bout Aviator?" From the Spearow?s confused look I could tell he understand what an Aviator actually was, so I decided to explain it to him. "An Aviator is the pilot of an Aeroplane or a Ship and since you?re a Bird Pokémon you might like that name."

The Spearow looked happy with the name Aviator, so that?s what I decided to call him. Abbey had named her Torchic Apparatus for some reason or another, but I didn?t ask why since it was really none of my business.

"Hey, how come you can speak English?" Abbey asked Hazard curiously.

Hazard shrugged casually. "Well it?s because I?m a very special Charmander."

"How so?" I asked him.

"Well ?cause believe it or not I?m smaller, but stronger then any other normal Charmander. Plus, I?m also able to learn Ice and Water techniques as well as any other technique."

"Wow! You are some Pokémon!" I commented enthusiastically. "I?m glad I picked you for a starter Pokémon since you?re so different from most Pokémon."

"Ain?t that the truth?" Hazard laughed, then cleared his throat importantly "Oh before I forget, Abbey you are able to under Bird Pokémon. Not Flying Pokémon, just Birds ?k?"

Abbey nodded. "Why can I under Bird Pokémon? Is it because I have been around them or so long?"

Hazard shook his head. "No, it is because being a Bird Pokémon trainer is your destiny. That?s why you add the urge to become a Pokémon trainer, because Apparatus chose you to be his trainer. That?s also why Avis decided to give you a second chance ?cause she knows that you mean what you promised to her."

"Wow!" Abbey said softly. "I have a destiny to become a Bird Pokémon trainer?"

"Yes." Hazard said, nodding his head. "But the most important thing is for you to only collect Bird Pokémon, but also have your team of six Birds. Those Birds much each have at least one type that is different from the rest, so in another words you can?t have two Normal/Flying Bird Pokémon."

"Don?t worry, I already have a Fire Bird Pokémon that when evolved to Blaziken will turn into a Fire/Fighting type. Plus, Avis is a Normal/Flying Pokémon. I also know which four Pokémon I?m going to capture and they are Natu the Psychic Bird, Skarmory the Steel Bird, Wingull the Water Bird and Delibird the Ice Bird. Unfortunately I?m unable to have Murkrow the Dark Bird."

"Oh don?t worry about that. You can use a Murkrow to replace Avis since Normal types aren?t much of an element."

"What about me?" I asked. "Do I have a destiny?"

"Yeah you do, but the funny thing is I don?t know what it is." Hazard shrugged casually. "I guess your destiny is for you to find out, but with my help you?ll be able to. Oh and Loui since you can?t understand Pokémon the Abbey can translate what Aviator says to you and I can translate what any non Bird Pokémon says to you ?k?"

I nodded, grinning at Abbey. "So, we both have two Pokémon each. Plus, we both also have at least one Bird Pokémon, even though you have two. Aren?t you glad you decided to take up Bird Pokémon training?"

"Yeah, but I did it for my dad. Plus, as I found out just a few minutes ago it is my destiny to be a Bird Pokémon trainer."

"Yeah, well you?re lucky." I pouted unhappily. "I know I have a destiny, but I wish I knew what it was."

"Don?t worry, you will in due time." Hazard promised me and I perked up a little. "Just give it time and you?ll find out exactly what your destiny is."

Now beaming with happiness I practically skipped along the Route in search of more Pokémon, but was unable to find any. Abbey and I had been search for an hour and even our Pokémon occasionally decided to help before sitting near a tree or perched on a tree branch in Avis and Aviator?s case and watched Abbey and I.

Twenty minutes later I straightened up from searching the bushes for a reasonable Pokémon. Hell, I would even be glad to see a Caterpie or something. Which wouldn?t be so bad, since quiet surprisingly I happen to like Caterpies, Metapods and Butterfrees, but i don?t like Weedles or their evolutions.

"Found any Pokémon, yet?" I called out to Abbey.

She shook her head and stood up. Her gaze run along the grass in search of something, but finding nothing she slowly made her way back to me. "Nothing! See I told you that Pokémon is almost extinct here. They must be since all we?ve seen around here is a Pidgey and Spearow. There?s not even a Rattata or a Nidoran or something."

"Well unless you want to capture a Spearow I think you?re done for capturing Bird Pokémon around here." I pointed out, while looking up the sky even though all I could see up there were Pidgeys and Spearows.

"Well then maybe I can help you look for Pokémon?" Abbey suggested and I nodded gratefully at her. "I?ll get my Pokémon to help as well. Apparatus, Avis come and help us look for Pokémon!"

Apparatus and Avis both began to look for Pokémon and without even being told Hazard and Aviator joined the search as well. After thirty minutes had past and it looked as if no more Pokémon could be found Abbey suddenly yelped in surprise and then gave a squeal of delight.

"Come quick, Loui!" She called out excitedly. "I?ve found two Pokémon behind this large bush here!"

I ran over towards her half expecting the Pokémon to be a Rattata and a Mankey or something, but I couldn?t have been more wrong. Sitting hunched down were two Pokémon vaguely similar in a way, but also noticeably different.

One of the two Pokémon was smaller then the other and was a pale blue colour with slightly darker blue patterns. It had medium sized ears; short spikes on its back; a short forehead horn and small buckteeth in its mouth.

The other Pokémon slightly larger and had bigger ears. It was a pink colour with slightly darker pink patterns; longer spikes; slightly longer forehead horn and buckteeth.

The two Pokémon were easily recognised as the male and female Poison Pokémon known as Nidoran. The female was practically hugging the ground in fear, but the male seemed to be determined to battle as he stood protectively in front of the female Nidoran.

After a few moments hesitation the female Nidoran decided to join in the battle, which made it a two-on-two Pokémon battle. That was totally fine by me, since I have two Pokémon of my own.

"Hazard you battle against the male Nidoran and Aviator you can battle against the female Nidoran. Ok, you two get ready!"

My two Pokémon stood in front of their opponent. Each Pokémon was tense except for Hazard who look totally calm, which I?m not surprised since he did defeat two Pokémon with just one Scratch attack.

"Hazard start off with Scratch! Aviator you start off with Peck!" I yelled out to my Pokémon and they started to attack their chosen opponent.

Of course Hazard had managed to defeat the male Nidoran with just one swipe of his claws, but Aviator that have that ability to win a battle with just one attack and was having trouble with the female Nidoran who was putting up quiet a good fight for a Pokémon that is so timid.

Finally Aviator was able to finish off the female Nidoran with one last peck attack and not wanting to waste any more time I threw two of my empty Pokéballs, one at each Pokémon. It was an easy capture and I clipped the now two Pokémon-filled Pokéballs on my Pokébelt, so that I could easily reach them if I needed them.

"Wow, three captures in the one day. That?s gotta be a record for you." Abbey commented with a sly grin.

I knew what she meant. Back in Pokéschool we had to practise learning how to train Pokémon with a Pokémon at home or something, so I had practise against the family pet Growlithe. I happened to be the worse trainer there and I was hardly ever able to capture a Pokémon, so after being told that I might never get to be a Pokémon trainer I had decided to do something about it. I practised everyday and sometimes even at night with Growlithe, so that I could become better at training Pokémon. I managed to make Growlithe tougher and I caught my first ever Pokémon. As a rule you are able to keep your first capture.

That reminded me bout something. My first ever-captured Pokémon was still at home and hadn?t even been trained yet. I started to the Pokémon Centre with Abbey and the Pokémon following closely behind me.

"Hey, were are we going?" Abbey asked me, trying to keep up with my fast pace.

"I just remembered that the first Pokémon I ever caught hasn?t been trained up yet, so maybe I can train her up. I?m going to call my Mum to send her to me."

"That?s a good idea." Abbey agreed. "I?ll get my Mum to send in my own first captured Pokémon, but he?ll be a bit stronger. Not much, though."

I pulled out my Pokédex, which is different from other Pokédex. Mine was a magenta colour and as well as being able to give you loads of info on any Pokémon you?ve captured it is able to do much more then that. This Pokédex has a built in communicator, so that you can talk to others if you have their phone number. It is also able to send and receive Pokémon from your PC, Lap, home or wherever. It also had other cool features such as a built-in translator that can translate whatever your Pokémon is saying, a Pokémon element locater and more. The locater is able to search for a particular type of Pokémon that you want such as Fire, Water or whatever.

I dialled up Mum?s number and after about three rings she answered.

"Hi, honey." My Mum said cheerfully. "Are you having a great time on your Pokémon journey?"

I nodded. "Yeah, Mum I?m having a blast."

"That?s good. I?m so happy for you. Your brother caught a Hoothoot, Sentret, Spinarak and a Ledyba. He told me to send me his Bellsprout that he caught as his first Pokémon back in Pokéschool. Have you caught any Pokémon yet? And you haven?t even told me what your starter Pokémon is yet. I?m so eager to hear what it is. Did you get one of the three Pokémon you wanted?"

"Um...well yeah I did, but he?s a little different from usual." I said. "He?s a white Charmander."

"A white Charmander?" My Mum asked startled, but then nodded. "Of course, I?ve herd that one of the starters was different from the rest. So, which Pokémon did you capture if you?ve even caught any?"

"Well I?ve a caught a Spearow named Aviator and a male and female Nidoran that are still nameless."

"Oh, how nice! So, you have a team of four Pokémon so far and Michael has six. So, is there is reason you called?"

"Um, yeah. Could you please send me the Pokémon that I first captured back in Pokéschool? I never really trained her all that much and I reckon that it would be could for her to see life outside again."

"Of course I can." My Mum said. "I?ll just go get her." She disappeared for a few minutes and then came back holding a Pokéball in her hand. "Here it comes!"

She placed the Pokéball on the transporter machine and then pushed a few buttons, which was obviously my Pokédex code number. She then pushed the big green button and instantly the Pokéball she had just sent me emerged on he small platform on my Pokédex. It is hard to vocalise unless you actually see the transporting process happenings with your own eyes.

"Thanks Mum. I have her right her." I said, holding the Pokéball in my hand. "I?ll ring you again tomorrow, but now it?s getting late."

"Ok, see ya soon, sweetie." My Mum said and then hung up.

Abbey came towards me with a Pokéball in her hands. She grinned and held it up. I held up my own newly received Pokéball that contained a Pokémon as well.

Our Pokémon and us decided to sleep at the Pokémon Centre for the night. Neither of us knew exactly what would be happening tomorrow, but we did know one thing for sure. Our Pokémon Journey had just begun.

Yah, another chapter! Gee, wasn?t that exciting? ^_^ Anyway I have absolutely no idea why I decided to call Loui?s Spearow Aviator and Abbey?s Torchic Apparatus, but they are quiet different names from what I?ve heard off so far.

Um...be on the lookout for another chapter since I?m on a roll here. Also, don?t forget to send me loads of feedback ?cause I?m interested in them. Plus, they make me write quicker when I know people like my stories. Remember that if I don?t get at least one or two reviews, then I?ll take longer getting the next chapter up.

OK, that?s it and please REVIEW!
