Disclaimer: Think about this for a moment. If I actually owned the whole Pokémon biz, would I be writing insignificant fan fiction? I didn’t think so either.
Rating: PG-13 (let’s face it, it’s about Team Rocket, a criminal organization)
Category: Team Rocket
AN: Welcome again, I hope the first chapter tasted well. You’re about to be fed chapter two and there’ll be plenty more to come. Remember, this takes place some years before my main fiction, so there is a lot to tell about.

Before the Fight, Kane’s Side

Chapter Two: Unwanted Company
********
Kane eyed his opponents. Even though he was only fighting one of the kids he could be sure the others would jump in when this kid lost. The boys appeared like twins, despite a lot of effort to look like opposites of each other. Both had brown hair and blue eyes, both wore black and white clothing, but each had a different style. The one called ‘Chris’ seemed cautious, fairly serious, and tidy. Well, tidier than the one he was fighting now. ‘John’s hair looked like he just got out of bed. This one also seemed more rash and overconfident. Their clothes were opposites color wise, but exactly the same otherwise. The girl wore jeans, a yellow tank top and a jean jacket. Her reddish hair was just long enough to cover her shoulders while her chocolate brown eyes held a worried look.
As John started shifting nervously, Kane suddenly ordered Diglett to surface. As quickly as he could John blurted out the Teleport command, causing Diglett to hit nothing but empty air. Abra reappeared on the top of a tree and John grinned as he regained his composure.
“Ha, I told you. Abra isn’t useless at all!” John boasted as he extended his chest. “Bring the tree down.” Kane said unimpressed. The command to bring down the tree somewhat shocked John, as a little Diglett taking down a tree seemed a bit unreal. But Diglett stormed towards the tree before disappearing in the ground again. Shortly after the tree started leaning to one side as the ground caved in.
“Abra Teleport!” Abra disappeared just as the tree hit the ground with a loud thud. “Scratch, quickly!” Diglett immediately rushed over to the reappearing Abra, but John ordered another Teleport. This process repeated several times until Kane started losing his patience. Even though it was impossible to lose, he couldn’t win either until Diglett actually landed a hit.
“I’ve had it, use Magnitude! Try to dodge that!” Kane yelled loudly as the last bit of patience was used up. Diglett stopped chasing the ever teleporting Abra and started concentrating. Soon the ground began to shake wildly as the attack grew in power. Abra sustained a lot of damage from the attack, but incredibly enough he wasn’t knocked out. Diglett let out an angry growl before turning to his master, waiting for his next command.
“Alright Abra! Heh, I told you this was a special Abra. Now Abra, use Psy Beam!” John ordered, confident he’d win now. Abra fired a multi colored beam at Diglett, who didn’t even wait for a command and just dug down. Both trainers were shocked, though for completely different reasons. Diglett hadn’t even been commanded, and Abra wasn’t supposed to know that attack anyway.
“Was that it? That was your secret weapon? Hahaha, you don’t expect me to be afraid now, do you? Because that was just rubbish! Diglett, finish this now!!” Kane yelled after he recovered from his brief shock. His Diglett didn’t waste time as it emerged under the unsuspecting Abra, who was now too tired to dodge. After all, Abra had been teleporting all over the place, which isn’t really easy on your stamina. The impact sent him flying into a tree, knocking him out.
“Aw man! That wasn’t supposed to happen!” John moaned as he recalled his fallen partner. He hung his head in defeat as Chris stepped forward. “My turn,” Chris said as he grabbed his only occupied ball. “Go Gastly!”

Meanwhile at the Saffron Police Department officer Jenny had just filed another theft report when a boy dashed through the door. “Help… thieves… they took… my Rattata!” The boy said in between his panting.
“Calm down, take a deep breathe and tell me what happened.” Jenny asked while preparing to write another report. Those thieves had been rather active lately. After the boy had calmed down enough to be understandable, she motioned him to start his tale.
“I just got my first Pokémon from dad, and I was walking down the path on route 8 when the ground disappeared under my feet. Next thing I know I’m pulled up by my jacket by this brute who also takes my Pokéball. Then he sends out his Growlithe to attack me.” Just as Jenny suspected, it was an exact retelling of earlier attacks. This had to be stopped, even if it wasn’t in her district. She went over to the videophone and called her second cousin twice removed.
“Officer Jenny here, can I help you?” “Hello, Jenny here. We have a situation on route 8. It seems those Rockets are at it again.” “Right, I’ll go over right away. I swear we should put a sign up pointing to my office, they just keep running past it.” “I know... Jenny out.” It was done.

Kane recalled his Diglett as he knew it didn’t know any attacks that could harm the Ghost type. “Your turn Jack, go and put on a good show for us. This is proving to be quite entertaining.” Kane chuckled as he backed off.
“Finally, I thought I wasn’t going to get any action. Alright Growlithe, let’s go!” The Growlithe appeared and growled at its opponent. “That’s right! Show those teeth, in fact, give him a close up, use Bite!” The dog immediately leapt at the ball of gas.
“Gastly try to evade it and wear it down!” Chris ordered. His Gastly dodged the attack just in time, only to dodge again when Growlithe kept the attack going. The third dash was close enough to pass through the aura emitted from Gastly, but not enough to bite it.
“Come on Growlithe, you can do better, put your back into it!” Jack yelled in frustration as the fourth attack was dodged like the others. “I am not going to get beat by a little kid! A rookie no less! I can only imagine the laughter…”
“Gastly, get some distance!” The boy’s ghost did as it was ordered and moved back a bit. Growlithe stopped chasing and waited for a command. “Now, Hypnosis!” Jack’s eyes widened as his brain raced for a counter. “Ember, do it now!” As his dog prepared to fire Jack noticed the Gastly hadn’t even started its attack yet. “Perfect.”
“Move left, then Lick it.” Just as Growlithe released the Ember Gastly nimbly moved out of the way and shot its tongue forward. Before Jack could respond the tongue was firmly wrapped around Growlithe’s jaws. The dog let out a soft whimper as the paralyzing effect kicked in.
“What?!” Jack yelled in surprise. “That’s cheating; it didn’t even use the attack you ordered it to use!” He ranted on, no longer bothering to order his Growlithe.
“It’s called insubordination. And keep your eyes on the battle, or I’ll take pictures and blackmail you with it.” Kane’s words calmed him down a bit, but anger was still overly present on his face.
“Break free! Come on, you stupid dog, you can beat that ball of gas!” Though not exactly gentle, Jack’s words encouraged Growlithe, who shook off the paralysis for a short burst of strength to get out of Gastly’s grasp. As the Gastly reeled back in surprise Growlithe let loose another Ember, scorching the ghost badly. Jack smirked at the change of odds. Chris’ calm demeanor was starting to let up as he looked troubled.
Just as Jack was about to call out the finishing attack police sirens came from the distance. Growlithe looked back as his master cussed profusely, a mistake he shouldn’t have made. “Gastly Hypnosis, quickly!” Growlithe swung his head back at the sound of the command, but instantly became drowsy as he gazed in Gastly’s eyes. Jack was too busy showing his unhappiness with the police to notice.
“Jack, we need to move, now! I’ll start the truck, you throw in the cages! But only the strong ones, we don’t have enough time to load them all!” Kane ordered as he grabbed some keys from his pocket and ran for the bush near the stack of cages. Hidden inside was a small cargo truck.
“Fine…” Jack said as he recalled his Growlithe and pulled out a gun before turning to the boys and girl. “Listen kids, if you try to stop us you’ll be too dead to be sorry. Stand right there, and don’t dare to move an inch!”
His words had the desired effect. He smirked as fear showed on their faces before running off to load the cages. Meanwhile the sirens became louder and louder. The truck came to life as Kane finally found the right key and fired up the engine. “Hurry!” He shouted to the back. Jack carelessly tossed the cages containing the rare and stronger Pokémon in the back, ignoring the cries and shouts coming from them.
********
Chris, John, and Mary stood petrified after Jack waved his gun in front of their faces while threatening to kill anyone that moved. They believed every word, especially after seeing his rough treatment of the Pokémon. Though they felt sorry and were torn apart inside, there was nothing they could do without getting shot. The only hope was the police showing up in time, so they waited as the sound of the sirens grew stronger. They waited as the cage tossing continued. Suddenly the sirens sounded like they were very near as the flashing lights rose above the road.
“Jump in, leave the others!” Kane yelled as he revved the engine. Jack dropped the cage he was holding and jumped in the back, shocked that the cops were that close already. The moment he was in Kane slammed his foot down and the truck flew from the bush onto the road before speeding off. The first two squad cars didn’t stop and pursued, but next came a motorcycle with Jenny behind the handlebars. She stopped near the kids and asked if they were alright.
“We’re fine, but they stole at least a dozen Pokémon, and the big bulky one has a gun!” John answered. Jenny looked at the cages, and then turned back to the kids. “Right, you three stay here and free those Pokémon. We’ll take care of Team Rocket.” She said before racing off to join the pursuit, leaving the boys and girl to free the remaining Pokémon from their cages.

“Would you keep it steady?!” Jack yelled as he tried to aim his pistol at the front police car. Just as he got it lined up the truck made a sharp turn, sharp enough to lift some wheels off the ground and tossing him into the side, after which he was buried with cages. Kane would’ve smirked at the cussing fit that followed while he tried to drive as fast as possible on the curvy road, but he was too busy trying to shake the police. Jack would just have to cope with the many turns. Besides, trucks weren’t made for smooth rides, just for transporting goods as cheap as possible.

AN: Here we go. Not as good as I would’ve liked. And late, as usual, but at least it’s here. If you haven’t noticed already, I’d like to point out that my other story won the RCA. I’m very happy and would like to thank everyone that voted for me, even if they don’t read this story. This is the soonest opportunity I get to thank, because chapter 10 isn’t finished yet. So yeah, thanks to everyone that voted and special thanks to the one that nominated it ^_^
