Pokemon versus Yugioh!

Ash stood alone in a field.
"Misty?  Pikachu?  Hitchhiker?"  Ash said aloud.
"You rang?"  Hitchhiker said.  Ash jumped back in surprise.
"Don't do that!"
"Sorry.  Old habit."
"Where is everyone?"
"Right here."  Hitchhiker handed Ash a card deck.
"You turned them into cards?"
"Had to.  You're the only player needed for this show."
"Which show is that?"
"Yugioh."
"You mean that kid with the weird hair?"
"Yep."
"But why do I have to play the card game?"
"Well, you are the main character."
"Oh yeah.  I forgot that."
"The cards you're going to be using are a special version of the duel monsters
cards Yugi uses.  The theme is centered around Pokemon of course."
"So it's like the pokemon card game but no tapping?"
"Yeah that would be it.  But you have to think more and use more complex 
strategies since you fight from the get go."
"So where is Yugi?"
"Oh right over there."  Where Hitchhiker pointed Yugi and his crew came out.
"Are they tournament competitors?"  Joey said.
"I don't think so, they don't have the gloves," Yugi said.  "Plus that one on 
the left looks very familiar."
"He should.  Yugi and company, meet Ash Ketchum, star of Pokemon."
"He's Ash?"  Tristan said, surprised.
"Wow.  It's very nice to meet you," Yugi said and made a small bow.
"Same here."
"So, who are you?"  Tea asked.
"I'm Hitchhiker.  The author of this fic."
"We're in a fanfic?  I know something felt funny.  You're not going to make me 
fall in love with my sister or something strange like that?"  Joey said.
"Umm no.  You see I'm a pokemon writer and this is a crossover battle.  You, 
Yugi, will fight Ash in a special duel monsters match."
"Why?"
"Because it would be interesting.  Plus so we can find out which show is the 
better battle show.  So Yugi, will you fight Ash?"
"Really I'd rather not," Yugi said.
"Why?  You have nothing to lose.  It's just a friendly match."
"Well, I see no real point to battle."
"Look.  Either you battle or you and your friends will be put in so many 
crossovers, you'll beg to be put in a Yaoi fic."
"He wouldn't," Tristan said.
"He might.  And we have no idea what kind of shows he knows."
"And I know some fun shows to put you in.  Should I do a mind warp on you guys 
or send you to your the doom.  Or I could just play around with love.  I hear 
squids are in this season."
"You really wouldn't do that to them, would you?"  Ash asked.
"Let's see if I have to."
Yugi's millennium puzzle glowed and caused Yugi to transform into his alter ego.
"I except your challenge Hitchhiker," Yugi said.  I know it's Yami Yugi, but 
it's still Yugi so I'll leave it as such.
"Good."  A playing field rose from the ground.  Ash and Yugi stepped on to the 
player's sides.
"You maybe be able to battle pokemon, but can you handle the cards?"  Yugi said.
"I do know my own card game, but that isn't all.  I have watched your own show 
and know your own strategies!"  The Yugioh cast gasped in surprise.  Ash turned 
to Hitchhiker.  "Are they going to do that every time I do that?"
"Yep.  Watch.  Me and Ash, both wear hats!"  The Yugioh cast gasped in surprise 
again.
"Hey, stop that!"  Tristan said.
"Yeah.  We can't help it," Joey said.
"But it's funny."
"Ahem.  Are we going to duel now, or just crack jokes?"
"Yes, let's start.  For my first card, I choose...Cyber Charizard!"  Ash placed 
the card on the input field.  A Charizard with robotic parts appeared on the 
field.  For the reader's sake, let's say he has 1600 attack.
"Then I summon Neo the Magic Swordsman, with the attack power of 1700."  Neo 
the Magic Swordsman appeared and destroyed the Cyber Charizard.  Ash's life 
points were lowered to 1900.
'Don't worry Ash.  It's still early.  Let's see what's in my deck.  Alright, I 
can use this!'  "My next move will be, Egotistical Misty!"  Ash played the card 
which made a giant version of Misty appear.  "And I add the Misty Mallet card."  
A giant cartoon mallet appeared in her hands.  Misty swung and destroyed Neo the 
Magic Swordsman. 
"Ah, you play well.  But I too have studied your show and I know Misty's 
weakness.  I summon the Basic Insect."  Yugi placed the card down which made the 
insect monster appear.  However, Misty instantly swished the Basic Insect.
"What?  But I thought she was afraid to face a bug!"
"I knew you would have a bug monster in your deck.  But what you didn't know is 
that the Misty Mallet not only raises her power, but it allows her an instant 
kill on any insect monsters." 
"Hey, I thought Ash was a dummy," Joey said.
"First, dummy is very rude.  Two, that's when Ash is out of battle.  Ash can 
invoke the writers, the show's ability to win anything just like Yugi can.  Yugi 
can plan ahead while Ash will always win in a spilt second decision.
It's a battle to see if Yugi can out-think Ash's quickness."
"I know that I can have more than one creature out, so I'll put another down.  I 
play the Venusaur Giant."  A very large Venusaur appeared on the field.  It has
1900 attack for those keeping score.  "And I place a trap card."
'A trap card.  It could be anything, but still it's limited to his show's 
factors.  I'll have to play carefully now.'  Yugi drew a card.  "You battle 
pretty well Ash, but this is where I prove my own skills.  Attack, Summoned 
Skull!"  The Summoned Skull appeared and attacked the Venusaur Giant, which was 
destroyed.
"Ah, you've played well, but I can play well too.  I add the spirit of water to
Misty and I play a special card."  Ash placed a card facedown.
'An effect card, I have no clue what it does till he flips it over.  But then it 
would be too late.  I have to be careful.'  "I summon Silver Fang."  Silver Fang 
appeared on the field.  Suddenly a pokeball surrounded the wolf and it was gone.
"Huh?"
"You activated my trap card.  It's the pokeball capture card.  Any beast monster
you play will get incased in a pokeball thus preventing it from attacking.  Plus 
you can't use it so it stays on your side just taking up space."
"Can I make a card or what?  It's like a dragon capture jar, but fitted to the 
pokemon world.  I tell you I just started picking this stuff up and I'm already 
a genius."  Hitchhiker rubbed his hands together with joy. 
"Coping cards isn't genius," Joey said.
"I don't copy, I modify.  And I can modify you too, so I would choose my words 
carefully."
"I may not have the wolf, but my Summoned Skull will be good enough.  Attack, 
Summoned Skull."  The Summoned Skull attacked the face down card, which turned 
out to be...Togepi!  Just so everyone knows I made it level one with fifty 
attack power.  Just because I hate it.  And you can't stop me.  So there.  
HAHAHAHAHAHA!  Wait, getting off track...ok I remember what to do.  So, the evil 
demon of hate got destroyed and the Summoning Skull was destroyed too.  The only 
thing standing on the field was Misty in the position Togepi was in.
"What?"
"Togepi's effect is that when it gets attacked, all allied monsters will destroy 
the attacker.  In addition, Misty's power is increased by the spirit of water 
enough so that she can destroy Summoning Skull.  And now, it's my turn."
"Say Hitchhiker, are you really going to write the whole match?"  Tristan asked.
"And are you using our show's rules or the actual card games?"  Tea added.
"You do have a point.  This match is getting very boring and typing this out is 
very dull.  So, I summon the writer's plot skip to the climax scene!"

Ash and Yugi were down to three hundred life points each.  Ash had won one duel 
and so had Yugi.  Ash was playing his Psychic Master Sabrina card with two 
unused trap cards in reserve.  Yugi had his Dark Magician out with magic cards 
supporting it.  It was Ash's turn.
'My card isn't strong enough to beat his powered up Dark Magician.  But my cards 
aren't good enough.  The trap card I placed will make sure that I won't lose, 
but I need to focus on winning this.  I don't have anything that will increase 
Sabrina's power by much, and my other monster cards aren't strong enough.  I 
still don't have anything that can remove Yugi's magic cards, however there is 
something I can do.  It won't be much, but it will even the playing field.'
"I play the fire gym field card."  Ash placed the card down.  The field arena 
went from a dark smoky field to a volcano field.  This was because Yugi played 
the Yami card, which is the spellcaster and fiend creature field (that's for 
anyone who isn't playing the card game).  Thus, the Dark Magician's power was 
decreased.  "And I add the moral support card so that Sabrina's power matches 
the Dark Magician.  Finally, I switch to defense mode."
"You may have dropped the field advantage but I still have more than enough 
power to beat you.  Behold the dark sword of destruction.  Now my Dark Magician 
is stronger than your Psychic Master Sabrina.  Now Dark Magician, dark magic 
attack!"  The Dark Magician then destroyed Psychic Master Sabrina.  Ash's life 
points were reduced to zero.
"All right!  Yugi beat Ash," Joey said.
"Not quite," Hitchhiker said.
"What do you mean, Yugi won two duels, and that means he wins."
"Look at Yugi's life points."  Everyone looked at Yugi's life points, which were 
also zero.
"How?"
"My last resort card."  Ash flipped over a trap card.  "Fellow traveler.  Like 
the move, it can take the same amount of life points from both sides.  So this 
duel is a draw."
"And that makes the match a draw too.  No one wins.  Kind of a bummer, but 
fitting in someway," Hitchhiker sighed.  "Oh well, let's go Ash."
"Not just yet."  Yugi said.  "I must punish you for the harm you tried to cause 
me and my friends."
"Do you really think your powers will be able to effect me?  You may break 
someone's mind and make them go insane, but I'm already insane.  After all, I'm
a fanfic writer."
"He does have a point,"  Tea said.
"So are you saying that my powers are useless unless you write that they are?"
"Yeah that's how it goes."  Hitchhiker took out took a cylinder-shaped object 
out of his jacket and dropped it.  The cylinder became a hole in the ground.  
Hitchhiker pushed Ash into the hole.  "Well so long, it's been fun.  And the 
next time we meet Yugi, it's personal."  Hitchhiker jumped into the portal, 
which closed up as he fell through.
"What did he mean by that?"  Tea asked.
"I don't know.  But I have a feeling it has to be my taste in clothing," Yugi 
answered.
"How would you know that?"  Joey said.
"Because he wrote it in."
