Magma

I stood there, staring off into the distance of Houen. "So this is it." I mumbled to Pyrro, my Quilava. She responded with a grunt. My father, head of Team Magma was close to capturing his dream, Groudon. That Pokemon, the legendary. Team Aqua tried to stop us, saying something about how foolish it was to go after a Pokemon such as Groudon, they said something about a Kyogre being their prize. Yesterday a ran into a girl. She was running away, a Mudkip by her side. Some of the troops I guess my father had sent, were chasing after her. She bumped into me. I remembered the look in her eye, not fear, like most of my daddy's victims have, but courage and hope. She had something clutched in her hands. She nodded to me then ran off. Houndooms were chasing her, I knew she wouldn't make it far...

"Get her!" he shouted out. "Kip!" Mudkip said in his high-pitched voice as he stopped to drench the Houndooms with cold water. They whimpered at this then shook it off. These Houndooms were strong, trained well in near the water. "C'mon Mudkip! Just a bit further and.." The girl bumped into someone. She took a step back then looked at the girl she bumped into, she didn't look like a Magma member, but could she..? Nah, she's dressed differently. Nicer clothes than an executive, maybe a member of a higher rank? No, she looks too young. She forgot about it when she heard the Magma Members gaining on her. She nodded to the one she bumped into then darted off, Mudkip by her side. She disappeared into the distance looking back to grin at us all one last time..

I guess as was wrong, I found out that she had, the girl with the Mudkip had made it past. Daddy is sending out more people to look for her. I guess whatever she took must have been important.

"All right, Pyrro! Headbutt it!" Pyrro grinned as her head rammer into the Mudkip's side, sending him back a little. "Mudkip! Watergun her!" my opponent shouted. I grinned. "Pyrro, put out your flames and endure the water!" Pyrro made her flames go out as she was hit by a powerful blast of cold water. Pyrro shuddered at the bitter coldness of it. She shook the water off then started her flames up again. "Flamethrower!" I instructed, knowing this was going to win me the battle. Pyrro shot out a column of flames out at the Mudkip, the small blue Pokemon stumbled back, coughed up a puff of black smoke, then fell over onto its side. "Great!" I grinned even more as a unclipped a Magma Ball from my waist then threw it out at the Mudkip. It hit the unfortunate Pokemon. It got sucked inside then the ball moved around. Barley even a struggle as the ball sealed. "Mudkip! No!" Courtney, my opponent shouted. She ran over to where the Magma Ball lied on the ground. I dived for it, getting there before she did. "Nuh-uh, Courtney, that's what you get for stealing that thing from Daddy, you take something of his and I take something from you." I smiled, a glint in my eye. "But Yui! That wasn't his! Do you even know what he was going to do with that?" She said, infuriated. "No." I chuckled. "But it's none of my business to be part of." I got up, dusting myself off. I put the Magma Ball into my pocket. "I'm sure Daddy could use this Mudkip of yours." Tears welled up into Courtney's eyes. "You're horrible, Yui! I thought you were different from that!" She screamed in her rage. She took a ball off of her belt then threw it out. "Ooh.. a Raichu, I'm sure my Daddy would like that. Pyrro! Take it down!" Pyrro nodded then rammed herself into the Raichu. She got a shock from it. She growled lightly as this then stumbled back. "Raichu!" the mouse cried, annoyed by the attack it received. "Hmm, not even fazed." I wondered what level this Raichu was at. I took out a small device then pointed it at the Raichu. "Level seventy-two." The Pokedex chimed. "Ooh, high level." Pyrro was only at fifty-two, she would faint if I was going to push her on to battle the creature. "Pyrro, come back here." Pyrro looked at me, puzzled. "Quil!" She yelped in pain as she fell down. I looked to see what had hit her. That dirty little mouse had Thunder Punched her! The Raichu's left paw was sparking with left over electricity from the attack. It grinned widely, proud of itself. "Pyrro! Come over here, quickly!" Pyrro slowly got up. I saw how much it had hurt her.

"Gleam! Attack it again!" Courtney was smiling now, thinking that she was going to get her Mudkip back. Heh, not if I could do something about it. "Rai!" Gleam cried then ran foreword, jumped up, then landed smack down on Pyrro. "Ava!" Pyrro cried in agony. "Pyrro!" I was worried now, she's never looked in so much pain before. I gritted my teeth together. "Cheerio!" I shouted then threw out a Pokeball. It hit the ground then Cheerio, my Umbreon, appeared. She glanced around then spotted the Raichu getting ready to attack Pyrro again. "Cheerio! Stop that Raichu from hurting Pyrro anymore! Even if it means death!" Cheerio blinked, I've never asked her to kill a Pokemon for the sake of another before, usually it was just out of my dad's bidding that I had made her do that. "Cheerio!" I cried out. She sighed then faded into the darkness. Gleam was obviously unaware of Cheerio because the next thing that happened was Gleam being knocked down, away from Pyrro. Cheerio reappeared next to Pyrro, she nudged her with her nose to see if she was okay. Not a sound came from Pyrro. Pyrro's eyes widened. She felt no energy coming from Pyrro. Cheerio looked up then glared at Gleam. "Umbreon!" She shouted out at Gleam, who knows what she had said. Cheerio charged foreword then bashed the Raichu in the skull with her own. She bit down on Gleam's tail, hard. She growled lowly as she started to swim Gleam around. Wails of pain were coming from the Raichu. "Pyrro.." I sighed then jumped down from my post. I picked the young Quilava up then ran back to watch what Cheerio was doing. As I looked back, the next thing I was Gleam on the floor, groaning in pain with Cheerio's paw to its throat. Cheerio was growling with rage while putting pressure on her paw, slowly choking the Raichu. I don't know why Cheerio hadn't been electrocuted by now, I guess Gleam had used up all of his energy previously. I was certain that the Raichu was near death. "Cheerio, that's enough." I said softly, cradling Pyrro in my arms, she was breathing softly, but just barley. I could feel her struggling heart beats. Cheerio snorted snapping her jaws at Gleam, but did no more. She removed her paw from Gleam's throat then ran back over to me. I returned Cheerio into the Pokeball, thinking that she had done enough. "Pyrro.." I whispered. "Pyrro.. Please do something to show me that you're okay." I spoke softly as I held Pyrro close. She let out one of her moans. My eyes slowly filled up with tears. I knew she wasn't going to make it without help. "Courtney, I'll get you back for this!" I yelled out. I ran back towards Team Magma headquarters.

"Daddy!" I broke through the doors to my father's office. He was busy mumbling to himself and looking at papers. "Dad.." I said softly, still cradling Pyrro in my arms. "What do you want, honey?" He glanced up at me. "Dad.. Pyrro's hurt! Can you help her? Please?" My dad stood up then walked towards me. He took Pyrro from me then looked at her. "Yui, who did this?" He questioned, still examining Pyrro. "That girl that stole that thing from you, her name is Courtney." "Her.." He gritted his teeth together. "Always knew she would bring harm to us.." "Is Pyrro going to.. Die?" I asked, pleading to God that he wouldn't let her go up to the big volcano in the sky. "I don't know, Yui. Best to put her out of her misery now." "No! Father! Don't do that!" I made a grab for Pyrro then ran out of the room. Holding her close. "Pyrro, it'll be okay, we'll find a nurse then get you healed." Pyrro nodded weakly.

I knew I was forbidden to go to Pokemon Centers, I knew that well. Well, at least in the Houen area. Johto and Kento didn't know of Team Magma's existence. They were too busy with Team Rocket, which I might say that was falling. Giovanni and his false hopes. I sighed then pat Pyrro on the head, she was doing better, I guess. "Red alert! Intruders identified as Team Aqua on campus!" I blinked. Team Aqua was our rival. Stupid sailors that never bathed. "All right, missy." Someone said to me in a rough voice, grabbing my arm. "You're coming with us." He chuckled. I reconized him as one of those smelly sailors from Team Aqua. I gulped nervously. I struggled to get free, no use. "Ay, no use to struggle lass. Team Magma is taken a hold of. Yup, we've got it good." He grinned, yellow teeth showing, I don't think that he even had all of his teeth. He dragged me back to Team Magma's headquarters. I kicked and screamed, getting several angry looks from other Team Aqua members. I held Pyrro close to me in one arm. She was only halfway hidden under my uniform. "Alrighty, stay here runt." He shoved me into a cell then slammed the door, I guess he hadn't noticed Pyrro.

I guess it wouldn't help weather I had Pyrro with me or not, these cell bars were made to be fire resistant. This Team Aqua wasn't very bright. I mean, I still have all of my Pokemon with me and the Mudkip that I had taken from Courtney.

"Oh Yui!" A girl chimed in a singsong voice. I looked out of my cell. Oh no, this wasn't going to be very good. "Hey, Courtney.." I said mareepishly. "Give Mudkip back, now!" She said, stomping her foot like an immature child. She had her arms crossed and had a glare in her eye, that meant something bad was going to happen if I didn't give in to what she asked or, shall I say, demanded. She had Gleam out by her side, with a band aid around it's torso and another on its tail. It glared at me angrily. I say the pouches on its cheeks, they weren't sparking! I looked closer and saw small hints of blood there, I guess Cheerio did better then I though by damaging the pouches of electricity. "Give my Mudkip back now!" She said in annoyance. "And if I don't?" I grinned slightly. "You're Quilava will be dead in an instant!" Pyrro was under my cloak, obviously asleep from the light snoring I heard. Sigh I took the Magma Ball out of my pocket then tossed it to Courtney through the bars of the cell.

"There, happy?" I asked, rolling my eyes. Courtney and I were friends, before our dads became rivals and created their own teams. Aqua and Magma. "No!" She said, leering at me. "I want that Umbreon of yours!" She grinned. "It defeated Gleam here, Gleam is my strongest Pokemon, and another Pokemon that happens to beat him shall be mine." "Cheerio? You want her?" I asked, pretending to be stupid. "Yes, I want her!" Courtney said in that tone of hers. "Well...." I started off. "Well? What do you mean 'well'?" Courtney asked, curious. "Well, Cheerio has this problem with strangers and instantly dislikes anyone that happens to harm one of her closets pals." I smiled, anyone that took Cheerio would be dead when they let her out. "So? I can tame her just as easily as you did. I did know her when she was a young Eevee cub, you know." She said, twiddling her finger a bit unsure of herself. "Maybe you did know her then, but she's changed. She might like you or hate you. Would you want to take that chance?" I cocked an eyebrow at Courtney, smiling innocently. Courtney grinned widely. "Of course I'll take that chance! Now hand over the Umbreon!" I sigh, shaking my head. This was just perfect. I had trained Cheerio in case of this situation. I had taught her everything to do.

"Bree!" Cheerio cried as soon as I had let her out. She saw Gleam then hissed angrily, arching her back like a cat. She barked madly at it, trying to get through the bars. "Cheerio!"  I whispered. She stopped then looked at me. I winked at her, giving a hint of how much trouble we were in. She caught on instantly. "Hi there, Cheerio!" Courtney said enthusiastically. She stuck her hand through the bars and pat Cheerio on the head. Cheerio let out a soft pur then looked up at Courtney, with puppy-dog eyes that any idiot would fall for.

"Aww! She's so cute!" Courtney let out a squeal then took a key out of her pocket then stuck it into the key hole and unlocked the cell door. "Come on out, Cheerio!" She grinned happily. Gleam growled at Cheerio angrily, getting ready to pounce on her. "Gleam! Quit it and welcome Cheerio to our team!" Gleam stopped, a looked of terror coming to his eyes. "Rai-Rai-Rai!" He shouted frantically, pulling on his trainer's clothes. "Raichu-Rai!" He cried, begging Courtney not to take Cheerio. "Come on, Gleam, she's not going to hurt you!" Cheerio grinned demonically at the Raichu, letting out a soft crackle that only Gleam could hear. "RAI!" Gleam sat down then started to cry. He huffed and puffed and screamed and yelled. Kicking and shouting and pulling at his ears like a baby! Who knew he could be so loud?

Cheerio stood up on her hind legs then took the key out of the keyhole with her teeth then.. Swallowed it! Courtney blinked a few times. Cheerio let out a small burp, giving Courtney innocent eyes. "Aww! So kawaii!" She let out a squeal of delight.

Sitting there all night was starting to get boring. Looking out the window I let out a sigh. "Breon!" Cheerio shouted softly. I looked at her through the bars that were keeping me back. She grinned, the key in her teeth. She faded then reappeared next to me. "Cheerio!" I hugged her then took the key. She sat obediently, waiting for me to unlock the door. I crawled over to the door, stuck my arm through the door then put the key in the hole and twisted it. I heard the lock un-click as it slowly opened. I pushed the door open more. "All right, Cheerio, return." I recalled her into the ball, from which Courtney had foolishly forgotten to take from me. I ran out of the chamber, the room, the head quarters.

Panting, I stopped. I looked back, lights were turning on, one by one. I watched it, softly cursing under my breath for being so loud. I turned then ran, ran down the hill the led into the southern reason of Houen. I jumped over a rock and dodged a low tree branch. A few more jumping and dodging later I tripped over a tree root. Clumsy me, I fell over then tumbled down the hill into the city near by.

Lavaridge Town, yeah, that's it. I stared at the people there. Sure, they saw my uniform. One lady with a little girl pointed at me and screamed. "It's Team Magma! Call the officer! She's armed!" She yelled in horror, grabbing her daughter's arm then running off. Team Magma? Team Aqua and done with them, at least for now. Armed? Heh, I think she was referring to the Pokemon I had with me.

"Quilava.." Pyrro yawned, blinking open her eyes. I set Quilava down, several people stared in horror. One man was on his cell phone, talking frantically to the person on the other line. Some boy was grabbing one of his Pokeballs from his belt, he glared at me. "Get out now, evil!" He shouted, blinking, I stared at him. "Evil? Heh, do you even know who I am?" I questioned him, raising an eyebrow. "Yes, you're part of Team Magma! So I know I must take you down!" "I am not part of it, silly, I may look like it, and my father might have a high rank in it, but I assure you I'm not part of it." The boy blinked a few times. "Liar! Quit playing your evil games with me so I can beat you in a battle!" I sighed, stupid child. He knows nothing of me or my Pokemon. "Fine then, if you wish to be that way." I smiled as he threw out a Pokeball. "Vaporeon!" The sleek water-type cried, appearing out of the ball. It looked around. "All right Vaporeon, attack that Quilava!" He pointed at Pyrro. "Pyrro, that em' out." I grinned. Pyrro nodded then trotted out towards the Vaporeon. "All right, Vaporeon! Show it your Hydro Pump!" The boy grinned widely. I shook my head then sighed, my Quilava was a special was, she was. My father had caught her for me at the Tin Tower all the way in Johto. "Pyrro, Sacred Fire! Show that pathetic water-type what you're made of!" Pyrro nodded, the flames on her back came out. She opened her mouth then shot out a large column of flames out into the open air. Ashes rained down from where she had shot the flame off into the air. The ashes started to circle Vaporeon, catching back on fire. Vaporeon looked around, his skin starting to get irritatingly dry. The flames engulfed him. I stood there, watching. Screams of pain came from the fire from which Vaporeon was trapped in. The fire settled down then faded away. "Vap.." He fell over onto his side, coughing and wheezing. Burns all over his skin. "Vaporeon!" The boy ran over to his Pokemon then gently picked it up. "Do you give up? You're lucky I pitied you, for I could have done worse." I nodded to him. He returned Vaporeon into its Pokeball. "Lets make a deal, Team Magma Girl, I win, I get one of your Pokemon, you win, you get one of mine. Deal?" I blinked. "Deal!" Grinned, I called Pyrro back over to me. "Three-on-three." I shouted over to him. "Okay." He grinned one of those evil grins.

Unclipping a Pokeball from his belt he threw it out. An Onix appeared. "Onix, eh?" I looked at Pyrro, lying down next to my feet and watching. I took out Cheerio's Pokeball then also threw it out. Cheerio appeared, looking around frantically. She let out a sigh of relief when she saw me. "All right, Cheerio, you know what I told you about rock-types, right?" She nodded. "Well, here is where you can put that information to work!" "By the way, Magma Girl, this battle shall be to the death."

I blinked. "Are you insane, little boy? Do you want your Onix to die?" I asked him that. "Why would you care? You're just part of Team Magma, a villainous group that cares nothing more than capturing the legendary Groudon." This was getting interesting now. "You know nothing of me or my Pokemon, little boy. I care deeply for mine, though you might not for yours. Now, without further ado, lets continue the battle, shall we?"

....

"Umbreon!" Cheerio cried in agony, her small body being squashed my the Onix. "Keep up that Bind, Onix!" I had to think quickly, Cheerio was an Umbreon, and Umbreons were dart-types! Duh! "Cheerio! Faint Attack!" Cheerio faded from the grips of Onix then reappeared on his head, slamming her paw down hard into his right eye. "Ooon!" The giant rock snake cried, falling over. "Onix! Get up!" "Cheerio, finish it." "Umbreon!" She hopped away from Onix, she turned away then started kicking sand and rocks at him. More screams of pain came. I looked at the Onix, sand and rocks were stuck in his eye as blood slowly dripped out. "Cheerio, stop. I think he's had enough.." I sighed, I just couldn't do it. Kill the poor Onix, and for what? A lousy Pokemon that would probably hate me? The three I already have are enough for me and I love them more than myself, why have another if I don't wish to have one? "I'll battle you again when you can treat your Pokemon correctly. Cheerio, Pyrro, lets go." I turned around then walked off, Cheerio and Pyrro following close behind.

I heard people whispering to others in the crowd that had gathered around us.

"She doesn't act like a member of Team Magma, maybe she was telling the truth."
    "Maybe she's not with them.."
"A true Team Magma member would have killed the Onix, maybe that boy was with the Team Magma!"

I listened to the people whisper then chuckled to myself. "Cheerio, return." I recalled her into the Pokeball then picked up Pyrro. The crowd stopped then looked at me. "Um.. Hello.. Does anyone know where the Pokemon Center is? My Quilava is a little tired out." I sweatdropped, looking at them. "I know where it is! I'll take you to it!" A little girl ran up to me. "Can I take you to the Pokemon Center? I know where it is!" She looked up to me, she didn't look like she had a Mom, Hair was messy, ripped up clothes, dirty hair, clothes, and skin. "Sure, where's your mother, child?" I asked her this, she stopped then stared at me for a moment. She grabbed my arm with her small hands then started pulling me towards the direction in which the Pokemon Center was in. "This way!" She grinned happily. I sighed then followed her.

VVV

"All right, Yui. Your Quilava is going to be okay, you can come in and see her now." The Nurse Joy smiled sweetly at me. I got up off of the couch I was sitting at and followed her into the back room. "Pyrro!" I ran over to my Quilava who was sitting on a counter, eating some treats that Nurse Joy had probably given her. "Thank you, Nurse Joy." "Not a problem, Yui. I was amazed at how high Pyrro's stats were and how healthy she is." I blinked. "Eh.. Yeah. I guess Pyrro is pretty amazing." "Quilava!" Pyrro grinned at me then jumped off of the counter and into my arms. She licked my face happily, glad to see me again. "Okay, okay, okay!" I held Pyrro a little away from me, laughing. "I guess you did miss me overnight, eh?" "Ava!" She said happily. I set Pyrro down then looked at the Nurse Joy. "So, how much do I owe you?" I asked, digging into the pocket of my uniform. "Oh, don't worry about it! Caring for Pokemon is free for trainers." "Trainers..? Oh! Yeah! Trainers! Heh-Heh, I knew that.." I scared the back of my head, sweatdropping. Boy did I feel like an idiot.

VVV...All the way in Johto from which Yui had conveniently gotten to...VVV

"So this is Olivine City.. Sure is a big place." I looked around. The light house was bright and shining from where it stood in the dark.

"All right! Everyone put your hands up!" Several men and women dressed in a black uniform that had a red R on it were at a nearby Pokemon Center. "Huh.." I looked at a man then at just hit me with his hand. "Get down!" I blinked then stared at him, dumbfounded. "I said get down you ignorant brat!" He grabbed my hair then swiped a leg under my feet so I fell. "Ow! That's not nice!" I glared up at the man, now that I got a better look at him, he wasn't a man, he was a boy! One around my age, I guess. He had one of those uniforms on. He pulled me back up to my feet by the hair he had grabbed. "That hurts!" I kicked at him, hitting his kneecap. He yelled in pain then fell over onto the ground, holding his knee to his chest. "Humph! That's what you get for messing with Yui Magma! All right Pyrro.." I blinked then looked around. "Pyrro? Where are you?" I started to become more frantic. "Pyrro!" I glared down at the boy. "Where's Pyrro?" I spat at him angrily. He started to get up. "Where is she?" I kicked him down then stomped a foot down onto his stomach. "Who the hell is Pyrro?" He leered up at me. "My Quilava you idiot! Now where is she?" The boy grabbed my foot then tripped me so I fell down next to him, I had hit my head on a rock before blacking out.
