I have nothing to do with Pokemon, its characters, games, Nintendo, 4 kids entertainment, gamefreak, creatures inc., just this story. ~ ~ ~ ~ It was a few hours later when they saw the ER staff wheel misty out and to the elevator. Before they could question where they were taking her the head ER doctor came out to talk to them. "Professor Oak, Mrs. Oak, Mr. Ketchum?" He asked of the three. "Yes" Samuel answered. "I'm doctor Kamin." He said introducing himself. "You two got her here just in time. She was on the verge of both a nervous breakdown and massive heart attack. We have been able to stabilize her and she is now being taken up to the ICU for observation. She is currently sedated to allow her time to rest. May I ask what brought this on?" With a soft sob Delia began to cry. Knowing she helped drive misty to this point. Sam went to her and comforted her and began to explain the circumstances leading up to this. Dr. Kamin nodded his head in recognition realizing the young man they had in their morgue at this moment was indeed the most widely known pokemon master in the world. "I see." He said when he finished. "Misty is going to need plenty of rest over the next few days. I'm going to recommend at least two nights here. Then she can go home. She will still need to rest and have plenty of love and support from all of you. Before you ask you may see her in the morning. I suggest that you all return home and rest." They left the hospital after that and returned home. It was hard to sleep with everything that had happened that day. But they managed it. Eighty miles to the north in Pewter City we find that the lights are on in the Slate home. Brock is sitting by the phone, waiting for word on ashes return home. 'Why hasn't he called by now?' Brock wondered to himself. Without really thinking about the time he picked up the phone and called his friends home in Indigo. He was about to hang up when Sharron answered the phone. "Hello." She said in a very sleepy voice. "Hello Sharron. I'm sorry to wake you." Brock said "Is Ash or Misty home?" There was a long pause and soft thud of the receiver hitting the floor. "Sharron are you okay?" Brock asked suddenly. "Sharron are you there?" "Its okay Brock." She replied. "I was expecting your call. But wasn't expecting it at this time of night. You took me by surprise." "Sharron, what is wrong?" He asked sensing her hesitance. Sharron paused again and decided it was best that he knew what happened. "Brock, are you sitting down?" She asked. Brock knew something was terribly wrong. Hearing the shuffling of feet and the scrape of a chair she continued. "A couple of days ago on his way home from New York Ash's plane crashed. He survived the crash but did not survive the team rocket attack on him. He was shot twice and was killed." This time brock was the one to drop the receiver of the phone. He sat there in shock for a moment before picking up the receiver. "When was he found?" He asked saddened "This morning. But there is more." Sharron said. "Misty is in Pallet Memorial right now. She collapsed from all of the stress and pain of this." "Thank you for the information Sharron." He said. "Again I'm sorry for disturbing you at such a late hour." "It is no problem brock." She said. "Please have a good night if you can. Goodbye." Brock hung up the phone. Melanie caught only the very last of the call and she asked her husband whom he was calling. Brock let her know what had happened. He walked about their home in a daze. Not really knowing what he was doing he soon found himself on the road to Pallet Town at nearly five in the morning. He reached the hospital shortly before visiting hours began and found misty awake. "Hello misty." He said after entering her room. "Oh Brock." She said and began to cry she felt that she would never stop crying. "I should have called you sooner." "It is alright misty." He said. "I'm here and we will work through this like we have in the past. We just won't have one of us around to help." They sat and talked for quite a long time. During this time misty began to think of a plan one that may save ash and their future together but it would take time to train for it. Brock would help but he wouldn't agree to it right now. ~ ~ ~ ~ A few weeks have past and life began to return to normal for everyone. Well as normal as it can be with one of their loved ones missing. Misty began to train again. She had taken an extended leave of absence from the pokemon league letting Jason take her place. Misty was working exceptionally hard with celebi. Wanting to learn all she could about the pokemon and also so the pokemon would trust her with its life. She began by simple battles, and working her way up as the pokemon increased its levels. Celebi was soon matching pikachu in strength and stamina. One evening after she had been training she asked pikachu to battle. "Pikachu I need your help. I want you to battle with me and celebi." She said to the small pokemon. "Pika." It said. "Pi pikachu." "I know you don't have a trainer. Here is what you will do. You will use any attack you know and battle as if ash or I had been rendered unconscious." She told him. Pikachu thought for a few moments. He had never battled that way. "Pika." He agreed and took the challenge. It ran over to the opposite side of the training gym and waited. Misty called out celebi and let pikachu know the match was on. The pokemon battled hard and pikachu pulled out all of the stops on this battle. Pikachu could hear ash calling out orders from his memory and obeyed every one. Misty called strategies and attacks to celebi. The battle raged for more than an hour. Misty was about to call the match when celebi performed its time shift move. It reappeared behind pikachu a moment later and fired off one of its many elemental attacks. Hitting pikachu full force with it, pikachu fainted. Misty recalled Celebi and thanked it for a job well done and took pikachu to get it healed. "Thank you Pikachu." She said. "Now I'm ready." ~ ~ ~ ~ Final preparations took little more than a week. Misty called Violet and had her tell the location of their parents. She also made Violet promise not to call them and tell them she was coming. Once that was done she used pidgeot to fly her to her parents home. Not wanting to surprise them she landed quite a distance away and walked to the home. She reached it with little trouble and knocked on the door. "Who is it?" said a female voice from inside. "Mom. Open the door I need to talk to you." Misty said impatiently from outside. There was a soft scrape and the click of a lock; the door was opened to reveal a very beautiful red haired woman. "Come in misty dear." She said. "What brings you here?" "We need to talk." Misty replied and entered the home. Her father was at the middle of the stairs, rising he put the gun he had drawn away. He joined the two ladies as they sat down. Misty began by letting them know that they were grandparents and that they needed to see their grand daughter. She also let them know of the events that led up to her being here. They talked for a short while and misty then got to the reason she was there. "To tell you what has happened isn't why I'm here. I'm here to ask your help. But before I do I also need to ask another friend to help as well and its better to ask you all at the same time." She said and called brock on her pokegear. After brief hellos and a short explanation she began. "I want to ask all of you if you will help me bring down team rocket once and for all this time." Misty said. A look of horror went across the faces of her parents and one of concern over brocks. "It will take about a month to get everything ready we need to ask all of the trainers who oppose team rocket to help as well as the elite four. I can handle the elite four. Brock you and my parents will rally the other trainers, if you agree to help." She finished "I'll help you." Brock replied. "For ash, and everyone else they have hurt or killed over the years." "Thanks brock I'll call you tonight with the details. Call Tracey and get his help he can go to the Orange Islands and rally their support. Good Luck." Misty said and ended her call. She looked to her parents expectantly. "Misty. You don't know what you're asking us." Her father said. "I do know." She replied back. "I'm asking you to take a stand and finish what you began when you were both nineteen. I want all of us to be a family again. I need us to be. Aside from my friends and Sarah, your all I have left." Her parent's thought hard about the life they have led. How long it has been since they began to hide. How they longed for peace and the ability to live out of seclusion. They looked at misty and the life she lived, for the years her and ash had been together and how they didn't live in fear of team rocket. Even now after they had taken her soul mate away from her she was willing to fight. Nodding to each other they answered her. "What do you want us to do?" Her father replied. Misty smiled and began to tell them the details of their parts of the plan. It was well into the afternoon when she left. She flew home as fast as pidgeot would carry her. She called brock straight away and gave him the details of her plan. He let her know that Tracey would help and was on his way to the Orange Islands now. She thanked brock and let him know when they would meet at Indigo in a month. Three weeks past like lightning. Misty trained harder with Celebi and her part of the plan was fast approaching. Celebi had entrusted misty with its life and misty did the same with celebi. The small pokemon was performing its role in the plan flawlessly. One afternoon it was time. Misty had called Sharron to the office after calling Delia and asking her to watch Sarah for her. Delia agreed. Sharron arrived and Misty asked her to take Sarah to her grandparents. She agreed and Misty watched them leave. This gave misty a few hours to finish her part of the plan. She quickly gathered the items she would need and picked up celebi's pokeball from the stand and headed to Ash's office. Once there she called out celebi. "Celebi, its time." She said "Cel." It replied happily. "We have done this many times in the past. Now its time to do it again for the last time." She said. "I know that you can do it. Each time you have transported us back and then back to the present safely. Now its time to make it count." She said softly. Celebi nodded its understanding and waited patiently. Misty kneeled down next to the pokemon and softly put her hand on its back. "Celebi begin Time Shift" Misty felt the small pokemon relax as it began to teleport. A soft, yellow glow enveloped both trainer and pokemon. "Cel..." it said and the glow increased its intensity. "Le..." the crackle of energy could be heard as the pokemon began to open a hole in the very fabric of space and time. "Biiiii!!!!!" It screamed as it finished the transport with a loud pop. Misty thanked the small pokemon and let it know it could rest. She checked the date on the desk calendar and found she was exactly when she needed to be. She pulled some items from the pack she had. It was the note, tulip and videocassette. She sat down and began to write. She told ash everything. She let him know of the pain and anguish she and his family had gone through. How much everyone missed him. And how she needed him back in her life. She also let him know about Domino and their adventure in Jhoto's purity canyon. She dated the letter with the current date and signed it. She placed it in an envelope and left the items on his desk knowing he would see them when he, correction they got back. She walked back over to celebi and again placed her hand softly on its back. "Celebi Time Shift Return." She said and they teleported back. ~ ~ ~ ~ Brock meanwhile had finished his calls and was waiting for replies from trainers and breeders alike. He was sitting there and began to think. He knew that only one person had been able to defeat Giovanni before and that person was dead. How were they going to do it? Then something misty said in their conversation earlier that day came up. 'I'm going to try to rectify the past, Brock.' She had said. Then it clicked. She had, rather her daughter had acquired celebi with one of mistys pokeballs the night ash was murdered. 'Oh my god, She isn't.' He thought to himself. Brock hurried out the door and called his fastest transportation. A dragonite appeared in front of him. He ordered it to fly to indigo as fast as it could. Being only a twenty-minute normal flight, the dragonite made it in ten. Brock thanked the pokemon and returned it. He hurried up to ash's office and heard a loud pop before entering. He hurried through the door and found misty and celebi standing in the center of the office, in a small cloud of smoke. Misty turned quickly to see brock standing there looking very concerned. She knew he had put it all together. A short time later Delia, Sam and Dennis arrived too with Sarah in tow. Misty knew they had all pieced it together "Misty what on earth is going on here?" Sam asked. "I would like to know that myself." Brock said. "Well I can explain now, or we can all wait for the next hour and a half. I can explain it a lot better then if you can all bear with me." Misty said and returned celebi. Misty sat down to wait and motioned for the others to do the same. Sarah ran over to her mother and climbed into her lap. "Mommy, what is going on?" She asked. "Well baby. Mommy has been working on something since she was in the hospital." Misty replied but not really answering her daughter's question. "All the training with celebi." She said "Yes darling. Now we all have to wait a little while to see if it has worked." Misty replied. The wait was long and drawn out. The longest hour and a half of everyone's life. Misty was waiting to see if she succeeded in saving ash's life, the others waiting for her explanation. If ash had followed the instructions set for him he would be returning soon. The time slowly ticked by. Finally they heard footsteps drawing closer to the door of the office. Misty held her breath, and prayed at the same time. The door opened and ash walked in. He turned and smiled at misty and she immediately broke down and began to cry hard. "Daddy!!!" Sarah screamed and ran into his waiting arms. Ash held her close and comforted her. "My god you're alive." Delia said in disbelief. "Ash you believed the note?" Misty said shakily. "I did. You wrote it. And yes mom I'm alive" He replied. "Misty, what is going on?" Sam asked again. Misty smiled at him. "To put this simply, I couldn't live without ash in my life. I was lost, felt like only half a person when Dennis told us ash was dead. When you found out about celebi and the power that it had I started to come up with a plan. I finalized it after brock arrived to the hospital. I knew that the only one that has been able to beat Giovanni and team rocket has been ash. So I trained hard with celebi and got to a point where it could teleport me through time with him. I got Sarah out of the house and finished the first steps of the plan. It was to save ash and set up a network of trainers to help us take out Team rocket once and for all. We teleported back a little more than two months when I knew the house would be empty. It was when we gave Sharron the day off and went to the Safari zone in Fuchsia City." She said to them. "I took with me the information that was brought to us by Dennis. I was determined to make ash realize what was to happen to him. I wrote a detailed letter to him of the events to pass when he was to return home from the United States. He obviously believed the information because he's here." "When we returned from Fuchsia, I went up to my office to check for messages." Ash began. "That's when I found this." He reached into his pack and pulled the tulip, note and videocassette from it, as well as the letter misty had written him. "I didn't quite believe it at first until I watched the tape. It was the convincing power. I hid the information away keeping it from pikachu even. But he did suspect something. Especially when I left and didn't take him with me." "So your pokemon should not have any memory of what was supposed to happen." Professor Oak said. "Misty this could have some serious repercussions." "It shouldn't the only ones that knew ash was killed were the Elite Four, Brock and his family, Tracey and Duplica, and us." Misty replied. "If his pokemon's memories have been altered then everyone who didn't know about his death wouldn't have been affected. The ones who did will be surprised and I'll explain what happened." Sam was about to respond when mistys pokegear rang. "Hello." she said "Hello misty dear. Your father and I are finished. Everything is in place so you and ash can finish Team Rocket off for good. Once that's done, we can become a family again. We love you, your sisters, and ash. Take care darling." Misty's mom replied and disconnected the call. "What did she mean?" Delia questioned "That would be the second part of the plan." Brock said. "The only part I know of. We have enlisted the help of all the pokemon trainers who oppose team rocket, and the elite four. We will be hitting the main rocket base in the morning to finish them off for good." "Mom can you watch Sarah for us?" Ash asked and his mom nodded her head that she would. "Dad." He continued nodding to both his father and stepfather. "I can't ask you to come. But you're both accomplished pokemon trainers and researchers. It would help us if you would come. We'll let you decide as we finish getting ready." Brock, Ash and Misty left the room and walked to the training center. Ash pulled out his strongest pokemon, as did misty keeping celebi in the line up. Brock had just finished calling his pokemon from his home Sam, Delia and Dennis came in. "We can't let you kids go alone." Dennis said. "I have my strongest pokemon here already." "Right." Sam replied. "I just need to call up my team. One I haven't used in a very long time." He walked over to the transfer machine and called up six GS pokeballs. Once he had them he walked to the center of the training center and called them out. Ash was curious as to the levels of the pokemon his stepfather had and pointed his pokedex on them as they emerged. We were all amazed at the levels as dexter read them off. "Charizard, level 300, Pikachu level 250, Alakazam level 300, Gyarados level 400, Venusaur level 250, Onix level 600." "Okay guys. It's been a long time since you have battled. I hope you will perform with the same strength and stamina you used to. We are all counting on you to help us out." Sam said to his pokemon and recalled them all after they agreed. He looked over to us and smiled. "Ash isn't the only one with high level pokemon. I used to train just as hard as he did, before my curiosity took over and I became a researcher." They turned in for the night knowing that tomorrow would be a big day. ~ ~ ~ ~ Okay I lied. It has taken me a lot longer to get this story and its inconsistencies corrected. Life has a funny way of getting in the way all the time. Part 5 is on the way. Thanks for sticking with me.
