Futures Past By: Zapdos1Alpha zapdos1alpha@hotmail.com AAMRN Part 5 ~ ~ ~ ~ Ash couldn't sleep that night. After hours of tossing and turning he decided to get up. Looking down to his wife he just shook his head, then walked across the room to a small stand on the table there. Looking again to his sleeping wife he reached down and took a pokeball from the stand. Ash walked quietly out to the balcony and into the warm moonlit night. It was a spectacular evening and ash allowed himself a few minutes to enjoy it while looking at the stars. "What the stars have held." He muttered to himself. Looking down to the pokeball in his hand he sat down and released the creature inside. "Cel?" it said in response looking for its trainer. "She is asleep celebi." Ash replied to it. Ash did have an uncanny gift for knowing what a pokemon was saying. "Cel le bi? Bi le bi?" the pokemon questioned. "Good question, actually questions" Ash began. "No I'm not your new trainer. Misty is my wife and we both know each others pokemon. As for the second question, you're out so we can talk." "Bi." It said as it floated over and sat on ash's knee. Ash smiled at the trusting nature of the pokemon. "I wanted to thank you. With out your time travel abilities, and you taking misty back, I would not be here now." Ash spoke softly. "I would have been dead and misty would have had to raise Sarah alone. I can't even begin to imagine the pain misty had to endure." Celebi thought for a moment and then lifted quickly off of ash's knee so it was looking straight into his eyes. "Cel. Celebi cel bi cel." It replied quickly. "You can show me the pain she felt?" Ash questioned. "How?" "Celebi." It said quickly and took a hold of ash's hand. "Cel…" it said and a glow began to form on the pokemon. "le…" it continued. Ash saw a small hole open up in the space in front of them. Awe struck ash stood up. "Biiii….." the pokemon cried as he and ash were pulled into the hole. Ash felt as though he was in a theater. Watching misty's life, being in the memory but not able to interact. They were in the dining room of his parents home. He could see his stepfather and mother at the other end of the table. This view was what misty had seen. He heard the doorbell ring and saw his stepfather walk from the room. A short time later he saw his stepfather return and his real father was right behind him. Ash watched as his real father placed his travel pack, pokeballs, a black glass tulip, and tape on the table in front of misty. Dennis sat down and then spoke softly. "Ash is dead. Shot twice by Team Rocket." Ash felt misty become only half a person. Felt the anguish and the pain. It hurt him deeply. Ash continued to watch as the scenes played out. Each one made ash hurt even more. He now understood why misty was so relieved to see him walk into the office at their home. They were nearing the present and celebi ended the view. Ash was crying. "Thank you celebi. You've helped me to understand." Ash said to the small pokemon. "Thank you again. Its time for a rest. Return." Ash sat there and continued to cry while looking at the stars. Misty had woken up shortly after ash returned celebi. Feeling the bed beside her was empty she began to panic. She looked about the room searching for ash, hoping that she hadn't dreamed everything. She rose out of bed and heard a soft sobbing coming from the balcony. She hurried over to the stand and noticed a ball was missing. She picked up starmie's ball and crept over to the balcony doors. Peering through the thin material she saw ash sitting there. Letting go a soft sigh of relief she walked out and wrapped her arms around him. "Ash?" she questioned. "Yeah mist." He replied to her while caressing her arms. "Are you okay?" She asked. "Why are you crying?" "This is why." He responded after a few moments and handing her back the pokeball. "Celebi." He said before she could ask. "I wanted to know, to understand why you did what you did. I wanted to know what you went through when I was dead." "And celebi showed you?" she responded while softly sitting down in his lap. "Yes. I now know what you went through and why you risked yourself for me. The pain you went through. I don't ever think I could go through that much pain and live." He responded to her question. "Thank you Ash." She said and softly kissed the man she couldn't live without. "Thank you for caring enough to find out. For that is the man I love. But we do need to sleep." "Just a while longer." Ash said softly "I love seeing the stars reflect in your eyes" Misty shook her head at this and cuddled up into ash's lap. To spend time that was missed while he was gone. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Ash woke that morning to a newly risen sun casting a ray of light onto his face. He turned and woke misty with a soft kiss. "Hmm.. good morning." She said softly "Morning angel." He replied smiling. "It's time to get up. We need to get ready so we can get this started." "I know." She said getting up. "I'm scared." "So am I. But Tracey will begin his attack in the orange islands within the hour. I want to be in Pewter City before that happens so we can cut off any reinforcements." Ash said while he finished dressing. "If my parents have done their part correctly, then they won't know that they are being attacked." Misty said. "True." Ash agreed as a knock issued at the door. Ash answered it and saw his two fathers standing there. "Are you kids ready?" Dennis asked him. "Yes we are." Misty answered for him. "Good, then lets get going." Sam replied and headed outside. "How are we going to get to Pewter City in less than an hour?" Misty asked "The only way to go." Dennis replied and called out Cyrix. "Actually, Dennis I can get us there a lot faster." Sam said. "Go Alakazam." "Zam." It said as it appeared. "Teleport us to Pewter City." Sam commanded. "Kazam!" it replied and used the teleport move to take the group to Pewter City. Within moments they were all standing in front of the Pokemon Center. "Great job Alakazam." Sam said. "Return." They walked through the stone grey city. Pewter City used to be a thriving city of honest people. Since Team Rocket had announced their main base was there, the city had declined and became a lawless haven. The police in Pewter City were always asking for the leagues help in thwarting the crime in the city. "We have a mile hike to get to the base." Brock said "Where is the base located Brock?" asked Sam softly. Brock hung his head in shame knowing this question would come up he sighed in response. "It's in the basement of my old gym." He replied "What!?" ash questioned in disbelief. "The new gym leader hooked up with Team Rocket a couple of years ago. He allowed them to build a new gym with the main base located beneath it." Brock explained "That's how the money was raised to build the gym" Misty replied. "Yes." Brock answered her. "So we have to go through the gym's pokemon as well as team rockets as well?" Dennis asked "Yes, unfortunately." Brock replied solemnly. "Well, this turned out to be a lot of fun" said a voice behind them sarcastically. "So, ash. I thought you could use another high level trainer." "Gary." Ash responded with a surprised tone "Why did you come?" "To Help." He said "And to apologize for everything. I have been a real jerk to you, your friends and your family. I'm sorry I ever was." "Gary where have you been?" Sam asked in shock. "You have been gone for the last seven years. No calls, no messages, nothing. Than you show back up here and now. We all thought you were dead." "I went into seclusion after my last battle with ash. A short time later I went and battled Misty and was again defeated. I decided at that point to try and find what I lacked and what ash and misty both had." He replied "What was that Gary?" Dennis asked. "Well the first was love for myself. I had to admit to myself that I was a true loser in pokemon and in life. Once that was done I began to change. I started to become more like ash in attitude. I also had to find love for my pokemon. I had to learn that they are creatures that need love and support and not tools. I did both rather quickly. I then had to earn the trust and respect of my friends, my pokemon friends. That took me the longest of all. Since I have earned that respect and love we have become stronger. We still have a long way to go before we can take on Ash or Misty yet but we are more than strong enough to help." Gary explained. Ash nodded his head. "Welcome back Gary." Ash said as he shook his rivals hand. "And thank you for the apology." "No. Thank you ash." Gary said in turn. "We better get going" "Your right Gary." Misty said as they headed towards the Pewter City Gym and destiny. *** IN THE ORANGE ISLANDS *** "Tracey is it time?" Duplica asked as they kept their eyes on the team rocket base of the orange archipelago. "Almost." He replied to her. "We have more than enough trainers here to wipe the base out for good." Tracey kept looking at the time on his pokegear, but was waiting for something else. It was barely sunrise and they should have been given the signal already. The sign he was waiting for came only moments later when the pokegear vibrated on his wrist. Checking the message he quickly thumbed the radio he had. "This is Tracey. We go in one minute. Be ready the signal will be evident." "Tracey?" Duplica questioned but was cut off as Tracey called out his scyther. Duplica released her pokemon as well. A loud explosion shattered the quiet calm of the morning. All looked on as the communications tower of the base fell cutting off team rockets ability to call for help. The trainers attacked hard and fast. All the team rocket members at the base were startled and caught unprepared for the attack. The trainers spurred on by the hatred and anger of team rocket spared no one in the attack. Many rocket members were injured in the attack. Others were killed in cross-fired pokemon attacks. The battle raged on, most of the Nurse Joy's from the orange islands came to aid the trainers in healing their injured pokemon. The officer Jenny's were on hand too taking team rocket members into custody after they were defeated. Four hours later the trainers were all celebrating. The remaining rocket members had given up and the base was destroyed. *** BACK IN PEWTER CITY *** Ash and his force of trainers were ready to begin their assault on the main team rocket base. All known entrances and exits were covered by the largest force of pokemon trainers and military known to the Kanto region. The only thing stopping the attack was word form the Orange Islands and Jhoto. "I wonder how the others are doing?" Brock asked as ash's pokegear softly rang. "This is ash." He said into the receiver as the others listened to the one sided conversation. "Yeah. Hmm, that isn't good. Not at all. That is great news Trace. No. No news on Jhoto yet. How fast can you and Duplica get here? Great once here heal your pokemon and join the fight. See you soon. Goodbye." "Well?" Misty asked expectantly. "The rocket base in the Orange Islands is destroyed. None of the Team rocket members got away and no communications went out. So no help arrived." Ash replied. "One down, and one to go." Gary Said. "Yep. And I wonder how that is going." Dennis said in response. *** IN JHOTO *** The battle raged heavily. The base was hard to crack being one of the newest built by team rocket. It was not going well. "Faulkner, I don't know if we can hold out." Mary, Faulkner's second in command said. "We have to. If we don't ash and his force can not hit the main base." He said to her. Faulkner was down to his last pokemon. He called it out and silently prayed for more help. The battle continued for another hour. Faulkner was just returning from having his pokemon healed again for the third time when he looked up to the horizon. "What is that?" He muttered to himself as the image drew closer. Faulkner reached mary as the image came into clear view and they could see that it was a group of pokemon. "What in gods name are they doing here?" she asked "No not god." A voice replied "Then who?" Faulkner asked stubbornly "Mewtwo." The pokemon replied as the group of super pokemon began to battle. "We have come to help you." With his eyes glowing, a mighty psychic attack was launched on the base and a lot of rocket members fell. The already weakened base began to buckle under the massive attacks of the pokemon clones. It was the turning point that Faulkner and his group needed to bring down the base. The hour past and the base fell. With a last attack from mewtwo's charizard the last of the rocket members fell. The base was quickly overrun with trainers and police rounding up the team rocket members. The trainers that had seen mewtwo were awe struck. They quickly recovered and thanked the pokemon for its help and tended to the gathering of team rocket. *** IN PEWTER *** Ash had just finished lining up his forces and preparing them for the attack. He was in the Healing tent that was set up just out of view of the team rocket base. He had just sat down to wait for any word from Jhoto when his pokegear rang. He picked it up and it was on speaker so all could hear. "Ash this is Faulkner. The base in Jhoto has fallen. But we didn't do it alone." He said "Of course you didn't do it alone. You had the majority of trainers of the Jhoto region there to help you." Ash replied smiling "No. You don't understand. We had help from pokemon. A creature calling itself MewTwo showed up with a group of pokemon. With their help we were able to bring down the base. It was their help that allowed us to succeed. Otherwise we would have lost." Faulkner said quickly. "Wait you just said MewTwo showed up and helped?" Misty asked while looking over to her husband. "Yes mewtwo. You have seen this pokemon?" Faulkner replied "We have, but that is for another time." She replied back. "How do you know of it?" Faulkner asked amazed. "Another time Faulkner." Ash replied and Faulkner didn't ask again knowing he'd get his answers. "Thank you for the word on the base falling. Its now time for us to get to work. Any help you can send or bring would be great." "I will see what I can do. I will join you personally. I'll be there as soon as possible. Goodbye for now." Faulkner said and closed the connection. Ash looked at the many surprised faces in the tent and knew he needed to explain. "I remembered something that Mewtwo told us last time. He said that he would always be watching. So I sent out Espeon out to ask for his assistance on the Jhoto base." Ash said softly. "I'll explain how we met him later." "I agree." Sam said. "We need to start here. And it will take a while." "So it begins." Dennis said as they left the tent leaving ash and misty behind. A few tense moments past as they looked at each other softly. It was ash who spoke first. "No matter what happens. And no matter to who it happens to. We agree that we will not attempt to change what happened to bring us back." "I agree. But I don't know how I'll live without you." Misty replied. "I don't know how I would live without you either. But we will, for Sarah's sake." Ash said as he left the tent holding misty's hand. ~ ~ ~ ~ Part 5 is done and corrected.
