As for the length of this story, well I just don't know. Hope you enjoy the story. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ It was well past midnight on the Enterprise. Brock and Morra were in ten forward enjoying each others company. "So misty has been following ash because he took her bike to save pikachu and ruined it." Morra said laughing. "Yeah, and now a few years later they have gotten together." Brock said while chuckling. "You know, morra. I really have had a great time tonight." "I have too, Brock." Morra said honestly. "But I can't help but wonder about Ash. He acted so strange earlier." "Oh, man. Ash. I completely forgot about that." Brock exclaimed as he remembered about ash. "Morra I have to go and check on them." "Brock its okay." She said and smiled with concern. "Let's go and check on them now." They quickly finished their drinks and left ten forward hand in hand. Morra silently cheered because she had won him over. She was also concerned that being here was causing more problems than she could deal with. They were soon at Brock, Misty and ash's quarters. They entered to find Ash and Misty sitting on the couch in deep discussion. "Hey Brock, Morra. Did you two have a good time?" Ash asked calmly. This took brock by surprise. "We did ash. But I was worried about you. You seemed really bothered earlier." "I know, brock." Ash said. "Morra I'm really sorry about that earlier. I was having a hard time believing I was here and may not get home. When you were showing us all of those planets I realized that there might not be a planet here with pokemon on it. I became disappointed with the fact that there may not be a way for us to continue our journey." "Oh ash. I understand completely." Morra said softly while tightening her hold on Brock and brock returned in kind. "I was much like you on my home planet. I was the one who was always reaching higher. I was always going off and exploring new areas of my home. I was gone for the largest part of two years. Then I got into trouble. It was real bad for me. I was tried and placed in jail. It was a year before I was released. After that I reapplied myself and was able to join Starfleet. My adventurous spirit fits well here, and I haven't been in trouble since. I know that you three will be able to live here too. That is if we can't find a way to get you home." "Morra that's great that you understand." Misty responded. "But deep down I miss all my family and the rest of my friends." "I know Misty." Morra said. "While in jail on my home planet we can't contact anyone. It's complete isolation. Even now I don't get to talk to my family and friends much but when I do its like calling on a phone." Morra looked at brock to see if she got the referance right. Brock shook his head yes. "I get to see them every so often...." She trailed off as she saw the dejected looks on all of their faces. "Oh, I'm so sorry...." "No. Morra don't be sorry. You just summed up what was bugging us all." Ash said in kind. "And in the morning we plan on finding out where we stand." "And if you would like to do something tomorrow afternoon after you off duty, we'd love to get together with you." Misty said softly with a yawn. "I'd like that." Morra said excitedly. "And I'm sorry it is late. I'll let you get to sleep. But also please rethink the idea of pushing the subject. I can tell you that I have been working on the issue in engineering. We have a couple of ideas but it will take time. Please let us work and I know that Commander Riker will keep you informed." "We'll talk about it but I think your right Morra. We need to give you time to work and research. Would you care for and escort?" Brock stated and asked. "No. I've monopolized your time enough for one evening." Morra replied "But I appreciate the sentiment." She gave brock a quick kiss and backed out so the door slid shut between them. Morra sighed as she turned and started for a turbolift. She was lost in her own thoughts when the lift stopped and opened for her. She stepped inside still lost in her own thoughts when she was spoken to. "Where are you going so late at night lieutenant?" Commander Riker asked. Morra jumped with a start. "Commander. I'm sorry. Deck 12 please." The lift started but was soon stopped. "Computer halt lift." Commander Riker said. "Lieutenant. May I ask what is bothering you?" Morra groaned. "It's our new visitors Commander Riker." "Go on." Commander Riker pressed. "Well, I think they are getting tired of being here. It has only been a little more than a day, but ash is having a hard time adjusting to the situation." Morra said and continued. "They really want to go home, but don't really believe that we are doing anything. There have been a couple of ideas pushed around engineering, but nothing solid." "I see." Commander Riker stated. "I know we are moving forward, but I also overheard Lieutenant Commander Data say that he was concerned about getting them home." Morra said. "I want to see them returned to their own time and place, but I also don't want to see them leave either. One of them in particular." "Hmm, so you have another little issue besides seeing them getting home." Commander Riker responded smiling a knowing smile. Morra stood there shocked and blushed a darker blue. "We'll talk to them in the morning and update our progress with them. For now we'll take it one step at a time." He continued. "Agreed?" "I agree but can we hold off for a day or two to update them commander?" Morra replied a bit more at ease. "I just finished speaking with them and they agreed that we need more than a day to get ideas and research done." "So you have seen Ash and his friends quite a bit, and it sounds like there may be a bit more between you and another of the group. I'll take your suggestion and leave a briefing for another day or two. That will give everyone time to work. But I'm asking you to be the liaison. You seem to already have a connection in their group." Commander Riker replied thoughtfully. "Thank you for the information, and are we agreed to the course of action?" "Commander that sounds like a great plan to me and it would allow them time to relax." Morra replied happily. "Good." Commander Riker said softly then turned his attention to the voice pick up in the turbolift. "Resume." At deck twelve Morra stepped from the lift and went on to her quarters. Commander Riker continued on his way to main engineering and silently hoped that Geordi and Data found something. It has been a little over twenty-four hours since the kids arrived and he wanted to see them home safely. But the reports of the missing away teams not far from their current position also had him worried. There was a report of some very strange creatures on the planet that vaguely resembled the pokemon that ash, misty and brock had with them. Commander Riker silently hoped that they had not found the kids' home planet. The only thing that kept that hope alive and strong was the preliminary report from Dr. Crusher. It stated that the carbon traces of the dirt and DNA signatures said they were definitely from Earth. Now it was up to Geordi, Data and the crack engineering team of the Enterprise to get them home safely. Commander Riker breezed into Main Engineering and saw Data leaned over one of the many consoles there. "What have you got Data?" Commander Riker asked quietly. "Commander." Data replied. "We have possibly found a way to get the children home." "Unfortunately, It is going to take a while to get the equations right." Geordi said a bit dejectedly. "What's the idea?" Commander Riker asked. "The timehook device." Data responded. "After we returned to our time from Kang's universe. We scanned the device and cataloged the design. As Geordi stated, getting the equations right will take some time." "How much time are we talking about here." Riker thought out loud. "Twenty-nine point five days" Data replied without looking up. "And we can't even be sure that it will work at all." Geordi elaborated. "That is why we are also working on a way to duplicate the same temporal distortion that brought the kids here. It's more promising. And we have ran a simulation already. The initial distortion didn't match up to the flux we found in the kids. We are trying to fine tune it. I'd give it a couple of weeks to get it right." "Two weeks then. I think the kids will be glad to hear that. Bring your ideas and information to the morning briefing. Don't work to late." Commander Riker said as he left main engineering. As he made his way to his quarters Commander Riker's out look of the situation brightened greatly. Deep down he felt that the kids would be home within a week. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ "Good Morning." Captain Picard said and brought the meeting to order. "First item of business is the reports of missing away teams on Omicron Delta 3. There have also been reports of creatures on the planet not unlike the pokemon of our visitors." "That's correct captain." Commander Riker stated flatly. The Daedelus brought the reports when they dropped off the Orion Delegate. The research Facility there is requesting that we head there as soon as possible." "I agree with their request" Captain Picard responded and activated his communications badge. "Ensign Ragar, set course for Omicron Delta 3, warp 5 and engage." "Aye sir." Ensign Ragar replied over the comm. "Course set for Omicron Delta 3, warp 5" The officers of the Enterprise felt the ship begin a turn then leap into warp drive. "Dr. Crusher have you been able to compare the research teams scans of the creatures against the Pokemon on board?" Captain Picard asked. "I have sir, other than a couple of radiological variances, the scans were identical. The scan they sent was of ash's pikachu. The only difference was of the amount of energy the creature on Omicron Delta 3 had stored in it. It was far less than ash's Pikachu." Dr. Crusher relayed. "Captain, If we are dealing with pokemon on Omicron Delta 3, then I feel that Misty, Ash and Brock will be the best suited to deal with the threats of the creatures. We have seen what their pokemon can do first hand in a controlled environment." Deanna stated softly. "Agreed." Captain Picard said firmly. "Commander Riker had brought to my attention the need for the kids to feel needed and of use. I to feel we need to keep them informed and let them know that they can be relied on as a part of the crew. Commander Riker can you handle that aspect please." "Aye Captain." Commander Riker responded. "Geordi, Data, what have you found for our three visitors?" "Data and I have found a couple of possibilities for getting them home. The first is taking the plans we have stored for the Timehook device, building it and working the equations to get the kids home." Geordi said. "Unfortunately that is the longest of the ideas. Taking approximately 29.5 days to complete and we can not guarantee that it will work." Data continued. "Our second idea is more promising. We have been working on using the same temporal flux that was laced into the kids when they first arrived. Geordi and I have already ran simulations and have found that fine tuning the temporal anomaly is needed." "How long?" Captain Picard asked "Approximately 2 weeks, Captain" Geordi replied in confidence. "Good." Captain Picard said. "We need to continue to on working with the temporal anomaly. Also we will inform the kids that they will be of use when we reach Omicron Delta 3 and that they may be going home in a couple of weeks time. Thank you all for your diligence and abilities in this situation. Dismissed." All of the staff left except for Commander Riker. "What is on your mind number one?" "Sir, trying to find a way to use Ash, Brock and Misty, may not be as simple to do. Lt. Morra has made a connection with the kids, a little bit more of a connection with one in particular. She has expressed to me a need to feel welcome and reliable to our crew and dimension if they are unable to get home." Commander Riker said softly "This comes from them?" Captain Picard asked. "It does sir. As I stated earlier, if we are dealing with pokemon on Omicron Delta 3, they may be better equipped to deal with the situation than we are. They have intimate knowledge of what these pokemon can do in their dimension. It could be that Q has sent them here to help us with this situation. Unfortunately they do not have the current knowledge to be of aid in any other area of the ship." "Will, have you ever had the feelings of being inadequate?" Captain Picard asked in passing. Commander Riker waited knowing his captain was not through with his thought. "I, for one, do know. And those feelings are not good. We will make available to them all the mathematics, languages, and sciences that are not classified to them to look over and learn from. We will keep them informed of the progress on their situation, and they will be kept informed of the issue on Omicron Delta 3. If the situation there does require pokemon, then they will be of help. Much like the X-Men were to us on Lt. Rager's home planet." "Thank you Captain" Commander Riker stated. "I'll brief Lt. Morra and she can relay to the kids. Also sir would you like another meeting with the three?" "I would but at their conveinance. I want them to feel as if they can come speak to me if they need to. Like any other member of this crew, is that all number one?" Captain Picard stated flatly. "Aye Sir, and thank you" Commander Riker said and left the lounge to the captain of the Enterprise. Captain Picard stood there for some time contemplating the situation before him. Three kids from another time and place, a developing situation on a distant planet, and one love struck lieutenant. He sighed as he stared out of the observation lounge windows. There was the soft swoosh of the door opening and closing. Captain Picard didn't have to look to know who it was. There was a long pause before the person spoke. "So Jean-Luc. You find yourself in another conundrum." Q spoke softly. Captain Picard breathed in a deep breath and slowly let it out before turning around. "Q, I will not pretend to know what your sick joke is for these children. But I know for certain that they will be returned home, and it will be the crew of the Enterprise that gets them there." Captain Picard said harshly. "Captain, my dear Jean-Luc. When will you learn that it's not always the valiant crew of the Enterprise that will save the day, but I will tell you this, the answer to getting the children home lies on Omicron Delta 3. It is the home of all pokemon, including the ones from their dimension. One Pokemon is the key and Ash knows which it is." With that Q vanished in his customary flash of light. Captain Picard exited the lounge and made a beeline for his ready room. "Number one with me." Captain Picard ordered. Commander Riker looked a bit worried and concerned all in the same moment and followed his captain. Once the door shut behind them Commander Riker spoke. "Captain?" Commander Riker asked. "I just had a visit from Q. It seems that the secret to getting our wards home is on Omicron Delta 3. It appears that Omicron Delta 3 is the home of all pokemon both in this dimension and the kids dimension as well. And Ash knows which pokemon can get them home." Captain Picard relayed to his commander. "Sir how can we trust Q." Commander Riker asked softly but urgently. "The information he gave me says that we can. I think that we need to allow badges to Ash, Misty and Brock. We will use them on the away team to Omicron Delta 3. And as soon as they are able, we need to question them about the many different types of pokemon there are." "Aye Sir. I'll get Lt. Morra on it right away." Commander Riker said quickly. "In fact sir I'll accompany her to brief them. "Thank you Number One." Captain Picard said sternly and turned to his computer monitor. Commander Riker stood to leave just as he neared to door sensor he was stopped. "And Number One. Be nice to the kids." Commander Riker eyed his captain in disbelief. "Sir, Permission to speak freely." Commander Riker asked. "Always. Will." Picard responded. "They have made an impact on you haven't they sir." Riker asked Picard chuckled before replying. "They have, Will. They have indeed." Captain Picard said softly "Dismissed Number One." With that Commander Riker left for the bridge.
