Ash slammed his fist into the already beaten pillow, his teeth were clenched in anger at his actions. After tiring himself out from the brutal attack on his pillow, he sat back and looked up at the ceiling.

"How could I have been such an idiot?" He asked Pikachu. Pikachu placed his ketchup on the ground and jumped up on the bed next to Ash. He patted Ash on the leg.

"Chu chupi, Pikapi. Pikachupi pi pika pika chu." (Don't worry Pikapi, Pikachupi was still half asleep.) He said in a calm tone. Ash looked down at him and smiled. He patted Pikachu tenderly on the head.

"You're right, maybe I'll talk to her later. We should get some rest. Besides, it was a stupid dream that woke me up. Like Misty could turn into a pokemon anyway." He muttered, lying on his back. He placed his arms behind his head and stared at the ceiling. Slowly, his eyelids drooped and he drifted off to sleep. Pikachu watched him for a second before jumping off the bed. He glanced at Ash one last time before scurrying out of the room.

~ Misty's hospital room smelled heavily of blood as Pikachu bounded into the room. A HootHoot was perched on the very end of her bed, it's entire body was glowing purple. A man in a black rocket outfit was holding Misty in a sitting position. A long needle was gripped in his gloved hand. Misty's eyes were a dull, hypnotic grey.

The rocket was using the needle to etch something into the skin of Misty's right shoulder. The fabric of her hospital gown had been ripped away, leaving the top half of her body almost bare. Blood ran down her back and onto the sheets. The rocket glanced at her bare chest, which set Pikachu off as he shocked the man with a high voltage thunderbolt, knocking the HootHoot from its hypnosis attack.

Misty's eyes snapped back into focus. She screamed from the pain in her shoulder and looked at the crispy rocket, which made her scream louder. She pulled the covers up to her neck. The rocket jumped at her and covered her mouth. He took the needle and pressed against her shoulder. Pikachu froze in fear when the rocket pulled a piece of aluminum from his pocket and placed it on Misty's shoulder so that if Pikachu shocked him, it would also electrocute Misty. The rocket resumed his work on her shoulder, without using his pokemon's hypnosis. Misty squirmed in his grip. The rocket dug his fingernails into her arm and hissed something into her ear. Misty's eyes expanded and she stopped moving. The rocket grinned. Misty's screams were muffled against the rocket's palm. Pikachu ran out of the room.

"Pikapi!" He yelled, running into Ash's room. Ash grumbled and rolled over. Pikachu hit him with an angry thundershock. Ash leapt out of bed.

"Pikapi, chu chu Pikachupi!" (Pikapi go save Pikachupi!) Pikachu yelled. Ash ran out of the door before the small rodent could explain the problem.

"Misty!" Ash yelled, running towards her hospital room. He covered his nose in disgust at the smell that erupted from it as he stood in the doorway. Pikachu ran up behind him and into the room. Muffled sobs accompanied the smell, along with an angry grunt saying to stay still. Ash followed Pikachu, his eyes widened in horror when he saw what was happening. Tears streamed down Misty's cheeks as the rocket stabbed the back of her right shoulder with a needle. He placed it on the bedside table and grabbed a syringe. Ash leapt at the man, knocking him off of Misty.

"Ash!" Misty gasped.

"Hi Misty." Ash grunted as he wrestled the rocket. The man pinned Ash on his back and pulled out a pocketknife. Ash's eyes widened in fear. The rocket grabbed Ash's collar and pulled him to his feet. He turned the frightened boy around and pressed the knife to his throat.

"Pikapi!" Pikachu cried. Misty yelled his name at the same time.

"HootHoot, Nightscreen." The Rocket commanded. The entire room was soon covered in pitch black. Ash felt the pressure be removed from his neck but a searing pain erupted from his right cheekbone to his temple. His hand flew to his face as a warm liquid rolled down his cheek. He winced slightly when he touched the source of his pain. The room brightened and he rushed over to Misty. She was clutching her shoulder in pain.

"Misty! Are you alright?" He asked. Misty shook her head. Ash ran out of the room to get a nurse. Pikachu quickly followed. Misty felt through the blood that was pouring down her back from her shoulder to see what the Rocket had done to her. Her eyes began to water as she felt the outline of an 'R'.

"I couldn't find any nurses, but I found the supplies room." Ash said, running back in with a handful of gauze. The blood from his own wound ran down his face and neck. He ran over to Misty and dropped the gauze on the bed. He blushed suddenly and turned around.

"Misty, You're gonna have to put the blanket down to get the gauze around your shoulder." He said. Misty nodded and picked up a roll of bandaging. She moved her arm to start wrapping it around herself when a stabbing pain shot throughout her right arm.

"Ash, I can't, it hurts too much." She moaned. Ash froze. He began to sweat slightly. His form shook with nervousness.

"D..d'you think you could hold the sheet up if I did it?" He stuttered. Misty pulled the sheets around her chest and nodded.

"Yeah." She said. Ash turned around and blushed heavily. He immediately looked down and picked up a roll of gauze. Walking to the other side of the bed, he began to gently wrap it around her. His blush deepened as he came to another realization.

"Misty, I have to wrap it around your chest." He said. Misty groaned in frustration and looked at the roof.

"I won't look, honest!" Ash exclaimed. Misty sighed and looked at him.

"Ash, you're gonna have to look if you're gonna get it around me." She said.

"Misty, I don't want to-" Ash started. Misty shook her head.

"Its alright Ash, I trust you." She said. Ash turned crimson and his eyes grew as wide as saucers as Misty released her hold on the sheets. Pikachu chose that time to come bounding in the room with a band-aid in his mouth. The bandage fell out of his mouth when he saw Ash and Misty.

"Pikapi!" Pikachu scolded. Ash blushed even harder than he thought possible. He instantly began to wrap the gauze around Misty. After a few minutes, he began to wrap it around her shoulder again.

"Misty, I finished, you can pick the blanket up again." He said, fastening the gauze. Misty smiled at him weakly and picked the sheet up.

"Thank you Ash." She said. Ash nodded. Misty frowned when she looked at his face.

"Ash, your cheek is bleeding." She said. Ash raised a hand to the dried blood.

"Oh, its nothing, I was more worried about you, that was a little too much blood for comfort." He said, Pikachu gave him the band- aid and Ash placed it on his cheek, though it only covered half of the wound. He waved at Misty and turned around, preparing to leave.

"Ash," Misty said. Ash turned around.

"What is it?" He asked. Misty looked at him with pleading eyes.

"Could you stay here? Please, I don't want to be alone if he comes back." She asked. Ash sighed.

"Couldn't I just leave Pikachu here?" He asked. Misty shook her head.

"I'd feel much safer if it were you." She whispered. It was barely loud enough for Ash to hear, but it struck a nerve.

"I'll stay here." He said. Misty smiled in appreciation. Ash walked over to a chair and sat down. He crossed his arms and closed his eyes. Misty laid down, but turned her head to watch him.

"Ash.."

"Humm?"

"Could you sleep by me?" Misty asked. Ash opened his right eye to look at her hopeful face. He nodded and moved his chair next to her bed and sat down again in the same position.

"Ash?"

"Yes?" He asked in a slightly aggravated tone.

"You can use the bed as a pillow, if you want." Misty replied. Ash cocked an eyebrow at her.

"Misty, are you okay, because you would have kicked me out by now." He asked. Misty laughed weakly.

"I'm scared." She replied. Ash sighed and placed his hand on top of hers.

"Misty, I'm here, and so are all of my pokemon, we'll protect you." He said softly. Misty shook her head.

"I'm afraid of what's happening to me. I can understand pokemon, and there's someone in my head, that's not me, its scaring me." She said. Ash sighed.

"Not tonight Misty." He whispered, placing his head on the covers. Misty nodded and blushed when she realized that Ash hadn't removed his hand from hers.
